FANDOR EXPANDS FIXSHORTS PROGRAM Crowdfunding Begins for Four Original Projects Alongside a New Film from Alex Cox

San Francisco (September 15, 2015) – Fandor, the on-demand streaming service for independent and international films, today announced the expansion of its unique film initiative, FIXshorts, with four original short film projects and a short, Tombstone directed by legendary filmmaker Alex Cox.

Fandor will again partner with crowdfunding platform Kickstarter, contributing half of the initial budget and providing reward benefits for the Kickstarter campaigns in addition to assisting in each film’s respective outreach efforts and guaranteeing distribution on the Fandor platform.

“After the immensely successful launch of FIXshorts in March, it was essential to roll- out another quintet of projects as those films near completion,” said Jonathan Marlow, Fandor co-founder and Chief Content Officer. “FIXshorts does not just provide the initial funds to help get these films made. It provides an ideal means for these films to be seen.”

In addition to the FIXshorts projects, Fandor will premiere a short from Alex Cox’s new film Tombstone Rashomon, currently raising funds with an Indiegogo campaign. Cox joins Fandor’s filmmaker initiative FIX with six of his feature films becoming available on the service, including Straight to Hell and Death and the Compass.

With nearly 200 FIX filmmakers, Fandor is consistently finding new ways to give artists opportunities to make and screen their work. FIXshorts was open to all current FIX filmmakers who submitted a proposal (or script) and budget for approval. Each project was chosen for its originality and with the full intention of allowing these filmmakers complete freedom to develop their proposed ideas. When completed, Fandor will premiere the FIXshorts exclusively in tandem with their respective festival premieres. The rights to each film remain with the individual filmmakers.
