However, flat tires and broken parts are almost unavoidable and knowing how to handle them properly can save your ride or race! Begin your ride by being preparing with the basics of what to carry with you at all times when out riding. You’ll need: • A spare tube that it the right size for your bike and a patch kit. • A CO2 powered inflation system and at least 2 spare CO2 cartridges. • Tire tools for removing and installing your tube. • A multi-tool with a chain tool and multiple wrenches/Allen keys. • Some anti-flat tire mojo. What I also recommend for the road: (A bit overkill I know…) • Zip ties and a small roll of tape. • An extra section of chain that matches your bike or a master link. • A small (well sealed) bottle of chain lube. • An extra shift and brake cable. • Cannon Cyclery Business Cards! Golden Rule Bike Maintenance Facts • Proper chain lubrication is one of the most beneficial and often overlooked pre-ride rituals. Ideally you should spray or drip lube on the chain every other ride. The best practice is to apply a thin coating to the chain only and then wipe off the excess with a dry rag. When the chain is properly lubed it will shift and run quietly, wear longer, and keep other drive train components lasting longer. • Creaking and popping sounds coming from your steed are not normal and are usually a sign that something is loose, worn, or cracked.

After introducing the new drivetrain category in 2019 with the DH 7, TRP is expanding its product line with a new 12 speed trail version. The TR12 series drivetrain is the logical extension of the DH7 system as it will employ the same technologies. The TR12 and DH7 drivetrain systems are the result of an intimate development relationship with 5 x DH World Cup Overall Champion Aaron Gwin and his personal mechanic John Hall. From start to finish, this project has spanned more than two full years of conceptualizing this high-performance design. In 2006, TEKTRO set out to develop a high-end, racing-focused product line that built on their values of quality control and precise engineering. These products developed under the name TRP have been engineered, tested, raced, and proven in the most extreme conditions. Since then, TRP has worked with world champions in cyclocross, BMX, and MTB to create new products. Since 1924 the objectives of the Association have been the same: to foster strong and fair competition, to provide reasonable guidelines for the various types of competition, and to provide an impartial competition program. The rules of competition are intended only as a guide for the conduct of the sport pursuant to uniform rules. Rules related to safety are made to make everyone concerned with safety.     United Bicycle Institute Bicycle Overhaul Check List Disassemble Bike • Clamp bike in repair stand by seat post only after wrapping with a shop rag. • Shift front and rear derailleurs into neutral position. Cut derailleur cable ends, loosen derailleur cable anchor bolts, and remove derailleur cables and housings. • If bicycle is equipped with caliper brakes, cut brake cable ends and remove cables and housings. If bicycle is equipped with linear pull brakes, loosen brake quick releases and remove brake cables from brake levers, cut brake cable ends and remove cables and housings. • Remove wheels from bicycle. • If bicycle is equipped with a quill stem, loosen quill expander bolt and remove handlebars from bicycle. If bicycle is equipped with a threadless stem, remove stem faceplate and remove han- dlebars from bicycle. • Remove chain from bicycle. If equipped with a master link, remove master link and remove chain. • Remove pedals from crank arms. • Remove cranks. Be sure to check for crank bolt washers. • Loosen cable guide bolt and remove bottom bracket. • Remove both front and rear derailleurs. • If bicycle is equipped with caliper brakes, remove brake calipers from bicycle. If bicycle is equipped with linear pull brakes, remove brake arms from bicycle. • Remove brake pads from brake calipers/brake arms. Pay attention to the orientation of washers, if any are present. • If bicycle is equipped with a threaded headset, measure locknut lip clearance, loosen and remove locknut, any spacers or accessories, and threaded race. Set fork aside, keeping track of bearing ori- entation. If bicycle is equipped with a threadless headset, loosen top cap, measure stem/steerer gap, remove stem, any spacers or accessories, compression ring, and headset race.
