  • Raccolta, Depurazione E Recupero Delle Acque Usate : La Chiusura Del Ciclo Idrico Integrato

  • Costa Degli Etruschi, Itinerari Trekking

Press Release FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - 22 February 2017 The 2017 ERL Emergency Grand Challenge will be hosted in Piombino, Tuscany (Italy) on 15-23 September Following the success of euRathlon 2015, the European Robotics League has entrusted the NATO Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation (CMRE), based in La Spezia (Italy), with the organization of the 2017 event devoted to the field of robots as a first response in emergency situations. Dates and venue of the competition were announced on 22 February during a press conference held by CMRE and Municipality Less than 100 minutes, a race against the clock to survey the scene of a simulated disaster, collect environmental data, and identify critical hazards, find and help missing workers. This is a challenge that only ground, marine and aerial robots can tackle effectively by working together. And this is the challenge proposed by the international robotics competition which returns again this summer to Piombino (Italy) as part of the major tournament of the European Robotics League – Emergency Robots challenge. The ERL Emergency 2017 event will be locally organised on 15-23 September, near the Enel-owned thermal power plant at Torre del Sale, by the NATO Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation (CMRE), based in La Spezia (Italy), which masterminded the euRathlon project’s final competition in 2015 in the same venue. “We are glad to come back to Piombino in a location that has already proven to be perfectly suitable to host this kind of competition, inspired by the 2011 Fukushima accident”, says Gabriele Ferri, Technical Director. “Once again the town will be the international capital of robotics for a few days.

  • SWE PIEDMONT Vs TUSCANY BACKGROUNDER
SWE PIEDMONT vs TUSCANY BACKGROUNDER ITALY Italy is a spirited, thriving, ancient enigma that unveils, yet hides, many faces. Invading Phoenicians, Greeks, Cathaginians, as well as native Etruscans and Romans left their imprints as did the Saracens, Visigoths, Normans, Austrian and Germans who succeeded them. As one of the world's top industrial nations, Italy offers a unique marriage of past and present, tradition blended with modern technology -- as exemplified by the Banfi winery and vineyard estate in Montalcino. Italy is 760 miles long and approximately 100 miles wide (150 at its widest point), an area of 116,303 square miles -- the combined area of Georgia and Florida. It is subdivided into 20 regions, and inhabited by more than 60 million people. Italy's climate is temperate, as it is surrounded on three sides by the sea, and protected from icy northern winds by the majestic sweep of alpine ranges. Winters are fairly mild, and summers are pleasant and enjoyable. NORTHWESTERN ITALY The northwest sector of Italy includes the greater part of the arc of the Alps and Apennines, from which the land slopes toward the Po River. The area is divided into five regions: Valle d'Aosta, Piedmont, Liguria, Lombardy and Emilia-Romagna. Like the topography, soil and climate, the types of wine produced in these areas vary considerably from one region to another. This part of Italy is extremely prosperous, since it includes the so-called industrial triangle, made up of the cities of Milan, Turin and Genoa, as well as the rich agricultural lands of the Po River and its tributaries.

  • Perspectives of Geothermal Development in Italy and the Challenge of Environmental Conservation
PERSPECTIVES OF GEOTHERMAL DEVELOPMENT IN ITALY AND THE CHALLENGE OF ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION Aldo BALDACCI and Fabio SABATELLI ENEL - PGEIUSP, Via Andrea Pisano 120,1-56122 Pisa (ITALY) ABSTRACT The status of geothermal development for power generation in Italy as of the end of 1996 is presented. Future development is dependent upon the acceptance of local residents; environmental conservation and socio-economic aspects have thus become fundamental issues in ENEL activities. The results of an environmental assessment study carried out in the Mt. Amiata area, where several plants are in operation and others are planned, are outlined. Pollutant concentrations are well within the limits set by current legislation; however, H2S and mercury abatement is planned to avoid the odor nuisance of H2S and possible adverse effects from mercury buildup in the long term. The scheme for combined hydrogen sulfide and mercury abatement, developed for the particular characteristics of Italian geothermal fluids, is described. The proposed technology is going to be demonstrated on a pilot scale and then on a 20 MW power plant. INTRODUCTION The potential of geothermal development in Italy is generally considered large in terms of low-temperature resources «130C C) and moderate in terms of resources suitable for electricity generation. ENEL's efforts have been mainly directed towards the research and the subsequent utilization of the latter type of resources, but in the last few years increasing attention has been dedicated to direct uses of geothermal heat and to industrial use of by-products associated with geothermal fluids. As far as electricity generation is concerned, slow but steady development is under way, together with renewal of older power plants built immediately after WW II and in the 1950s.
