A WORD FROM THE ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

CBE Friends and Family, old and new, welcome.

12 years ago the director (and one of our earliest champions) Jonathan Butterell brought the great choreographer to our first concert, and, shortly afterward, Matthew told me there was a piece of music he felt I had to choreograph.

To my great surprise, the piece of music was Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and, while I was of course totally seduced by the brilliance of the composition (and flattered that Matthew believed I was up to it), I wasn’t sure why the world needed another response to this music.

Seemingly moments later, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change in Switzerland released a particularly alarming report, and I put two and two together and realized there was an opportunity to make a work about the very changes we were starting to experience.

This cautionary tale premiered at Joyce SoHo for four performances in May 2008, was revived at Baruch Performing Arts Center in April 2009 for three more performances, and now returns for 21 performances – feeling more urgent and necessary than ever.

If you enjoy yourself, I hope you’ll spread the word about our company and this show.

Thank you for your continued support and patronage,
