3 Board Members - HM Land Registry - closes Monday 10th July

HM Land Registry safeguards land and property ownership worth more than £4 trillion. The Land Register contains more than 24 million titles, which show evidence of ownership, covering more than 84% of the UK’s land mass.

HM Land Registry are seeking applications for three board members, with experience of Finance, Legal or Digital Transformation.

Candidates for the Finance role should have the ability to develop a senior level strategy, provide financial analysis on forward plans, interpret complex financial information; and be able to oversee internal control and risk management system. A strong technical background in internal audit and control will be essential. Applicants for the Legal Member should have broad legal advisory experience, with the ability to see legal issues within their wider context and provide appropriate advice. Candidates for the Digital Transformation role should have knowledge of digital customer services in a data-rich organisations, an understanding of how HM Land Registry supports the UK economy and an understanding of the public sector.

● Time: 10 meetings per year. ● Remuneration: £20,000 per year.

The regulates arcades, betting, bingo, , gaming machine providers, gambling software providers, operators and external lottery managers and remote gambling (online and by phone) that uses British- based equipment.

The Gambling Commission is seeking applications for two board members with expertise in a Consumer Retail and / or E-Commerce and / or a Consumer Welfare.

Applications for the Consumer Relations / e-Commerce role should have an understanding of the impact of digital transformation on service delivery, social medial markets and personalisation across products and platforms, and / or creative industry, and / or advertising or branding. Applicants for the Consumer Welfare and Public Health role should have an understanding of consumer welfare policy issues and demonstrable engagement with or understanding of consumer behaviour, or drivers of behaviour. Applications are sought from candidates with an understanding of the policy and legislative environment in which the Commission operates.

Trustee - - closes Friday 14th July

The Tate holds a national collection of British art from 1500 to the present day and international modern and contemporary art. The Tate has a network of four art museums: Tate Britain (London), Tate Liverpool, Tate St Ives, and Tate Modern, (London).

Following Lord Browne’s departure the Tate Trustees will elect one of their number as Chair. Successful applicants to this role will have the opportunity to put themselves forward for the role of Chair. Applications are sought from candidates with a background in international business, a global reputation and business networks acquired through senior leadership roles. The successful candidates will have a track-record as a leader within a complex organisation; have international prominence and standing in the public realm; experience as a non-executive in the not-for-profit sector or arts sectors with a strong record of fundraising; and have a commitment to contemporary and visual arts and the Tate’s values.

The Nuclear Liabilities Fund is a Scottish registered company holding investments with a market valued at c.£9bn for the purpose of providing funding to meet certain waste management costs of and, in due course, the decommissioning liabilities of, the eight nuclear power stations owned and operated by EDF Energy Nuclear Generation Group Limited, formerly known as British Energy Group plc.

Applications are sought from candidates with a record of senior management in an investment/asset management, financial or similar institution. Successful candidates should have senior level experience of accounting or auditing; strong stakeholder management skills; the ability to understand technical financial information; and strategic management skills.

● Time: 2.5 days per month. ● Remuneration: £28,500 per year.

Non-Executive Directors (x3) - Corporation - closes Tuesday 18th July

Channel 4 is a high-profile publicly-owned, commercially-funded broadcaster. It transmits across all digital platforms and operates a range of other services, including digital channels and video on demand service. Channel 4 Corporation has a unique and valuable public service remit, under which it provides content that is high-quality and appeals to a culturally diverse society. As a publisher-broadcaster, it does not produce its own programmes but commissions them from over 250 creative partners across the UK, working closely with independent producers, and investing in training and talent development throughout the industry.

The Channel 4 Corporation is seeking to appoint three Non-Executive members. Successful candidates should have executive level experience in one of these areas: direct engagement in the commissioning or development of creative work in creative industries; working and/or engaging with young people; working in major advertising agency, media- buying, digital media, digital advertising and/or marketing environment.

The successful candidates for this campaign, and existing board members, will also be able to apply for the Deputy Chair role when it becomes vacant at the end of 2017.

Ofcom is the regulator and competition authority for the UK communications industries. It regulates the TV and radio sectors, fixed line telecoms, mobiles, postal services, plus the airwaves over which wireless devices operate.

Ofcom are seeking to appoint a Main Board Member for Scotland. Applications are sought from candidates with an understanding of issues affecting the communications sector in Scotland. Successful candidates should have knowledge and understanding of the political and constitutional context in Scotland; have an understanding of the business and economic principles that underpin the broadcasting, telecommunications and postal sectors within the digital environment; have sound judgement and decision-making skills; and an understanding of the competitive and consumer dynamics of the communications sector.

● Time: 2 days per week. ● Remuneration: £42,519 per annum.

Independent Monitoring Board (IMB) roles at local prisons and immigration removal centres

Inside every prison, immigration removal centre and some immigration facilities at airports and ports, there is an Independent Monitoring Board (IMB) - a team of local people recruited especially for this unique and challenging role. IMB Members are independent, unpaid and work an average of 2-3 days per month. Their role is to monitor the day-to- day life in their local prison or removal centre and ensure that proper standards of care and decency are maintained. Opportunities arise regularly across England and Wales, and at a couple of immigration centres in Scotland. You can find out more about IMBs on their website here.

Advisory Council on National Records and Archives - Board Members The council advises the Lord Chancellor on issues around public records over 30 years old, including public access to records when they’re transferred to the National Archives. The council also advises on requests by government departments to keep hold of their records and on public interest issues when a department wants to keep their records closed.

Care Quality Commission - Non-Executive Directors The Care Quality Commission is the independent regulator of health and adult social care providers in England and has a key responsibility in the overall assurance of safety and quality.

Charity Commission - Chair and Trustee The Charity Commission registers and regulates charities in England and Wales, to ensure that the public can support charities with confidence.

Environment Agency - Board Members The Environment Agency is Department for Environment Food & Rural Affairs’ largest non-departmental public body. The Environment Agency’s purpose is to protect and improve the environment. It works to create better places for people and wildlife and support sustainable development in England. The Environment Agency is responsible for managing the risk of flooding from main rivers, reservoirs, estuaries and the sea; regulating major industry and waste; treatment of contaminated land; water quality and resources; fisheries; inland river, estuary and harbour navigations; and, conservation and ecology.

Health and Safety Executive - Member The Health and Safety Executive is the national independent watchdog for work-related health, safety and illness. It acts in the public interest to reduce work-related death and serious injury across Great Britain’s workplaces.

Natural England - Board Members Natural England is a Department for Environment Food & Rural Affairs Non-Departmental Public Body. It is the Government’s advisor for the Natural Environment in England, helping to protect England’s nature and landscapes for people to enjoy and for the services they provide in England. Natural England is responsible for promoting nature conservation and protecting biodiversity; conserving and enhancing the landscape; securing facilities for the study, understanding and enjoyment of the natural environment; promoting access to the countryside and open spaces and encouraging open-air recreation; and, contributing in other ways to social and economic well-being through management of the natural environment, eg changes to wildlife licensing.
