A The Athena SWAN Charter aims to advance the representation of women in science, technology, engineering, medicine and mathematics. Keele AS Athena SWAN School of Medicine currently holds a Bronze and is working towards Silver. The University holds a Bronze award.

B BLS is the level of medical care which is used for BLS Basic Life Support victims of life-threatening illnesses or injuries until they can be given full medical care at a hospital.

An academic support mechanism for students who have failed assessments. It provides a dedicated tutor for students who are experiencing particular difficulties with their studies. Referrals to the service Enhanced may be made by Exam Board or in some cases by Professional and the Year Lead. SOM School of Medicine The scope of SOMEC is to consider and oversee good practice in all matters within the School relating to; Ethical issues associated with students’ research project undertaken as part of a taught UG or PG School of Medicine SOMEC course, ethical issues related to the content or design Ethics Committee of taught courses and associated teaching activities and ethical issues related to staff research in Medical Education which involves students and/or staff in the School of Medicine. A simulated patient (SP) is an individual trained to role play the part of a patient to help medical students SP Simulated Patients and healthcare professionals become more skilled by developing their communication and diagnostic abilities.
