Good day Residents, Businesses and Retailers, Kindly be advised that the annual Cape Town Cycle Tour will take place on Sunday, 10 March 2019. This iconic event attracts thousands of cyclists to the beautiful city of Cape Town to take part in this 109km road cycling event which holds the title of being the “World’s Largest Timed Cycle Race”. In order to ensure the safety of the cyclists and general public, various road closures will be implemented for this event, the day prior to (minimal closures) as well as on event day. These road closures are as follows. Saturday, 9 March 2019 Area Details Time of closure Cape Town CBD - Castle Street between Strand Street & Saturday, 12h00 – Sunday, 14h30 Darling Street - Darling Street between Lower Plein & Saturday, 15h00 – Sunday, 14h30 Buitenkant Street - Strand Street & Newmarket Street between Saturday, 19h00 – Sunday, 11h30 Lower Plein Street & Russel Road - Nelson Mandela Boulevard incoming Strand Saturday, 19h00 – Sunday, 11h30 Street off-ramp Sunday, 10 March 2019 Area Details Time of closure Cape Town CBD - Strand Street & Newmarket Street between 04h00 – 11h30 Adderley Street & Russel Road Cape Town CBD - Darling Street between Adderley Street & 04h00 – 14h30 Canterbury Street - Sir Lowry Rd between Canterbury Street & Christiaan Barnard Street Woodstock, - Phillip Kgosana Drive (M3) 05h30 – 11h30 University Estate - Outbound between Roodebloem Road and Hospital Bend.
