He began his career in 1997 coaching for Santos FC‟s Youth teams where he coached some of today‟s top players including Robinho (AC Milan), Diego (Atletico Madrid), Alex (Paris SG). William, and Paulo Almeida among others. But Coach Lima is best known for the integral role that he has played in the development of the women‟s game in Brazil. With the impressive results obtained with Santos FC‟s Youth, Kleiton was invited to take charge of Santos FC‟s Women‟s professional team in 1997. Over the course of 14 years at the helm of the Santos FC Women‟s team (1997-2010), he won numerous state, regional, national and international titles, positioning him as one of the most respected coaches in Latin American women's football. Aside from the titles, Lima has coached and developed many players who have served the Brazilian National Team in competitions such as the South American Championship, Pan American Games, Olympic Games and FIFA World Cup. Career With Lima at the healm of the Santos FC women‟s team, they were two-time Paulista Champions, two- time Brazil Cup champions, two-time National league champions, and back-to-back champions of the South American Libertadores Cup (South American Pro Clubs Cup) . With this impressive record and his key role within the evolution of the women‟s pro game in Brazil, in 2008 Lima was called upon by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) to lead the Under 20 Women‟s National Team. Under his leadership, they were crowned with the South American championship title. Soon after that, in January 2009, Coach Lima took command as the Head Coach of the Brazilian Women‟s National Team (principal team). In his first year as coach of the Brazil WNT, they won the São Paulo International Tournament, beating all of their opponents and also winning the South American Cup in Ecuador, which was the South American Qualifying Cup for the 2011 FIFA World Cup in Germany and 2012 Olympic Games in London. Career In 2011, Kleiton Lima coached the Brazilian team at the Women‟s World Cup in Germany, going undefeated through the group phase, with wins over Australia, Norway and Equatorial Guinea. In the quarter-finals, the Brazilian team was eliminated by the United States on PK‟s after a thrilling draw in the regular time and overtime. In the same year the team won the silver medal at the Pan American Games in Guadalajara in Mexico, playing without its stars, revealing new young players. They were defeated on PKs by Canada. STATISTICS: Brazilian Women’s National Team: 33 Games: 26 Wins, 6 Ties, 1 Loss (Sole loss occured playing away against Swedish National Team in Lima’s first month as Brazil WNT head coach). Brazilian Women’s College National Team: 7 Games: 5 Wins, 2 Ties, 0 Losses U-20 Brazilian National Team: 16 Games: 14 Wins, 1 Tie, 1 Loss (2008) Career Also in 2011, Head Coach Kleiton Lima returned to Men‟s Professional Football and managed Bangu AC in Rio de Janeiro‟s State League PRO (FFERJ - 1st Semester) as also managed Vitória – PE in the Brazil Cup (National League PRO - 2nd semester). In 2012, Kleiton worked at Red Bull Brasil, in the A2 Paulista League PRO (FPF) and at AD Sao Caetano, first division Brazilian league série B (CBF). Lima is currently the assistant coach at Sport Recife, Serie A of the men‟s top pro league in Brazil. In 2013, Kleiton worked at Xv de Piracicaba for the Paulista League A1 (first division) went back to Sport Club do Recife, to compete on Copa do Brasil 2013, Pernambuco League 2013 (runner's up) and Copa do Nordeste 2013. (semi-finalist). In 2014, Kleiton worked at Grêmio Barueri, in the A2 Paulista League PRO (FPF) and Copa do Brasil (CBF – 2st Semester) In January of 2015, Kleiton took the Head coach position for the B team (U23) of Santos FC. He has revealed players to the club's main team. The main players are: Vitor Bueno (elected newcomer of the year for the Brazilian Championship in 2016 and top scorer of the Santos team that same year), Lucas Veríssimo (defender of the 2017 Brazilian Championship), Ronaldo Mendes ( goal scorer against Audax, winning the Paulista Championship of 2016). In addition to other names in the main team like: Fernando Medeiros, Wesley, Gregore, Orinho, Yuri, Thaciano, Walterson, Mateus Nolasco, Diogo Vitor, Diego Cardoso, Diego Pituca, Calabres, among others.
