Welcome to Papakura First and Reserve teams to Memorial Park for the second game this season.

The last game was again a well contested game with Rewa coming out ahead. Today's game will see the same pressure and I am sure Papakura will want to change the result.

Today we see our first team advertising its new sponsor Jetts. We welcome them aboard and look forward to a long rewarding relationship which I see benefitting both parties. I suggest players and supporters watch this develop and support both parties.

Last week at home we saw the side see off a strong challenge from Franklin United and the Reserves finishing with a draw.

Thanks to Div 6 who had a win and stayed around and supported the bar and first team. Great stuff.

Again the weather hasn't been the best which is seeing the council restricting games on the park something we as a club will have to work on to change.

See you in the stand today and tomorrow for Memorial Day.

A WORD FROM THE CLUB MANAGER

Welcome to Memorial Park for what is sure to be a bumper weekend of action. Our NRFL teams face a tough challenge in the local derby vs Papakura with more than just the 3pts to play for. The Manu Hudson shield is currently held by Papakura and I'm sure both teams will put on a display fitting to the occasion as Manurewa try and reclaim the shield. To cap off the weekend on Sunday we have our annual Memorial Day and it would be great to see you all down again to share some laughter, a drink or two and maybe some football.

As you will note we have Jetts Gym on board as part of the Manurewa AFC setup and we will be working closely with them to put on events and offer players extra opportunities to get in- volved in the club throughout the remainder of this season and next. I must thank Carly and the work her team have done to make this partnership come to fruition and hope Jetts will be with us for a long time yet.

Congrats to the O35's and Div. 6 on last weeks victories and well done to Reese and the Ressies for fighting back for a point last week. I hope the juniors and youth enjoyed the break and come back refreshed and ready to display some razzle dazzle on Saturday morning. Shout out to birthday boys this week Logan Hart and Mark Armstrong...must be your round!

~ August 13th: ~~Junior/Youth Fun Day @ Memorial 9:30-2:00 ~~~Senior Quiz: Know it All Night @ Clubrooms 7:00 k.o. (start making your teams now!)

Thank you once again to all the supporters for coming down to cheer on our teams, we appreciate it all and hopefully you are repaid with goals and points!

Hi everyone

A warm welcome to our neighbours from Papakura today. Local derbies are always fun and I'm sure the stand will fill up.

Good luck to the first team and let's bring the Manu Hudson trophy home!!

Our reserves continue to work hard and enjoyed 4 points gained in our last 2 games. We are looking at continuing this form and building towards a big end of season run.

All the best today everyone.

Today we welcome Papakura to Memorial Park.

Having written this mid-week, I can only assume that the pitch has held up superbly after extensive rain, and that the wind has died down to a gentle breeze, allowing a great spectacle to be played for the third and final home South Auckland derby for us this season.

The first meeting between the two teams saw Papakura totally dominate play and possession along with controlled entries into the penalty area but were unable to convert any of those stats into anything meaningful as we comfortably won 3-1, and I’m sure Kura are keen to reverse that result here today.

Surprisingly for both teams this late into the season, this game has a lot riding on it. Kura, having dominated the second division last year, will have expected to be sitting well above their current league position, and after the last few years, we are also surprised to be in the promotion conversation, but it somewhere we hope to be in for the remainder of the season. Also riding on the result here today is the Manu Hudson Memorial Trophy. After missing out on the opportunity to play for it at McLennan Park in the first round for some reason, we are looking forward to battling for it today.

I’m sure there will be great support out there today, so let’s hear you in the stadium, and see you upstairs after the game.

A warm welcome to everyone

Today we play Papakura, who had well fought draw last week vs Oratia Statically they have been the better team in the last few weeks but have been unable to convert their chances.

Going back to last week for us vs Franklin we had a 3-1 victory, with Steve grabbing a Hat-rick Everyone played very well from the defence to forwards great win stand in Captain Sean as Marv was away on futsal duties.

Reserves started a bit slow but then got the groove of things while stand in Coach Kieran Nevey made changes to change the style of play, but there reserves went down early in the second half to make it 1 nil to Franklin, but back from injury Reece Lamb scored with 5 minutes to go the square the match 1 all, both team searched for a winner but were unable to so game ended 1-1.

Div. 6 had a great win over Metro going up 2 nil they played some great football the lads have done a great job without a coach, they play at Wai- heke today.

Over35’s had wonderful win over Eastern Suburbs 3-1 great performances from Biff and Simon Bilton they sit mid table with a few games to go they could finish top 3.

Good luck to all teams today!!! REWA HARD

Youth Report

Our youth teams are back on the field today after having a break last weekend with the school holidays. We hope that you all enjoyed your games today.

As mentioned in the last programme, here is how our travellers got on over the past few weeks.

Ben Neilson, Kyle Evans and Rafe Couillault from 13th Stealth travelled with the Ricky Herbert Academy to Australia. The tournament ran from Friday – Sunday, based at the Runaway Bay Football Club. The team played 3 games per day, with game being 20mins each way. Ben Neilson, Kyle Evans and Rafe Couillault made the starting team for each of the games. Results were mixed for the team, that only played together once prior to the tournament beginning …results were 4 wins, 4 losses and a draw. The team also gives awards at the end of the tournament and the MVP for the trip went to Ben Neilson. Golden Boot was won by Rafe Couillault.

SAE player experiences. Over the past few weeks, we have seen a few of our older academy players experience a variety of training environments. Four of our players represented AFF and went to the Kanga cup, a tournament in Australia. By all accounts it was a good experience for each boy. Nine of our players were also selected to participate in a week long training camp at the Olé Football Academy in Wellington, where they were put to their paces with the elite players in their own age and current NZ u17 and u20 players. Two of our players are currently overseas participating in a Super Cup Tour through Europe and England. However...the bread and butter starts again this week as we rip back into training as a group with simple advice to our players... Turn up, Listen, Work hard.

Remember, July Player of the Day presentations are on this afternoon. Register at the youth table downstairs. All financial youth players are eligible for the door prize.

Good luck to all Rewa teams today. See you at Memorial Day tomorrow.
