In order to achieve some concrete results that could be demonstrated in 2016, legal draft texts, studies and capacity building activities addressed under the Action Plan 2015-2016 have to be implemented.

A highway river crossing including the bridge and approaches to it on the road M-14 Odessa – Melitopol – Novoazovsk (to Taganrog): beginning on the right bank of the Southern Bug River near the village Vesniane from M-14; end – on the left bank to the M-14 at the crossing with auto road P-06 Ulianovka – Mykolaiv. Construction of approaches to the bridge structures requires allocation of land for permanent use within the projected band allocation of the road. At present these lands are owned by individuals and legal entities. (4) Location Ukraine is located in Eastern Europe and is surrounded by seven countries; Romania, Moldova, Slovakia, Hungary, and Poland in the west, Belarus in the north, and Russia in the east, as well as the Black Sea in the south. In order to exploit this geographical position, the Government of Ukraine established the “Comprehensive Program for Consolidation of Ukraine as a Transit Country for 2002-2010”, which was indicative of the importance attached to establishing international trunk roads providing new traffic systems for cross-border logistics.

    41 3.2.6 Central Asia (Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan) This central Asian grouping contains most of the Aral Sea basin with the Aral Sea and the Syr Darya and Amu Darya Rivers. It also includes Lake Balkhash (Kazakhstan). The statistical data set for this grouping is shorter than most, as before 1988 it was reported as a homogenous group within the former USSR area. During Soviet times, people were strongly encouraged to eat fish once a week. During these “fish days”, restaurants served mainly fish dishes. This tradition disappeared when the USSR collapsed and fish became less readily available. The major producers of inland fish in this region are Kazakhstan, which represented 58.2 percent of the catch from the region in 2009, and Turkmenistan (25.9 percent), because of their association with Lake Balkhash, the Caspian Sea and the Sea of Azov (Figure 28). Catches declined from 1989 (193 081 tonnes) to 1998 (41 966 tonnes) because these countries began recording fisheries data separately. These trends in catch can be attributed to the drying out and pollution of the Aral Sea from the water abstractions for cotton culture; Lake Balkhash is following a similar trajectory because of dams on inflowing rivers. This has damaged the important stocks of “kilka” (Clupeonella cultriventris) that previously formed a staple of the fishery, which had reached some 450 000 tonnes in 1974 (Box 7). The reasons for the collapse of fisheries in this region during this period have been explored by Thorpe et al. (2009). However, trends over the last ten years have been for a slight renewal of the fisheries, at least in Kazakhstan, although fisheries in Turkmenistan have remained relatively stable (FAO estimate) and those of Azerbaijan have continued to decline.

Others were found in Berg's "Freshwater Fishes", and in works by Nikolsky (1954), Galkin (1958), Borisov and Ovsiannikov (1958), Martinsen (1959), and others. The kinds of fishes most emphasized are the larger species, especially those which are of importance as food fishes in the USSR, hence likely to be encountered in routine translating. However, names of a number of important commercial species in other parts of the world have been taken from Martinsen's list. For species for which no recognized English name was discovered, I have usually given either a transliteration or a translation of the Russian name; these are put in quotation marks to distinguish them from recognized English names.

The huge catchment area of the Black Sea receives annually about 400 ктУ of fresh water from large European and Asian rivers (e.g. Danube, Dnieper, Yeshil Irmak). This, combined with the shallowness of Bosporus makes the Black Sea to a considerable degree a stagnant marine water body wherein the dissolved oxygen disappears at a depth of about 200 m while hydrogen sulphide is present at all greater depths. Since the 1970s, the Black Sea has been seriously damaged as a result of pollution and other man-made factors and was studied by dif­ ferent specialists. There are, of course, many excellent works dealing with individual aspects of the Black Sea biology and ecology.

ABSTRACT Objective: The current work was carried out between 2013-2014 during the fishing periods to evaluate certain fish aggloremations within 3 miles of the coastal zone. Therefore, some basic characteristics of fish populations along the Inceburun coast of the Sinop province of the Black Sea were examined. Materials and Methods: Data was collected from 5 trawl operations in the Sinop-Inceburun Region of the Black Sea at depths of 20 to 39 meters at 5 different locations. Biometric measurements of each species was made. A literature search was performed to gather information about the status of threatened fish species found in the region. The length-weight parameters of 4 commercial fish species were estimated. Results: During the fishing season between 1st September 2013 and 15th April 2014 different fish species were captured depending on the season and climate. In these surveys, 16 teleost species from 15 families, 2 elasmobranch species from 2 families and 2 species of invertebrates were recorded from 5 different stations.

In the present study, a total of 606 individuals of 13 fish species were collected. For each of Abramis brama, Alosa saposchnikowii, Atherina boyeri caspia, Carassius auratus, Clupeonella cultriventris, Cyprinus car- pio, Liza aurata, Leuciscus aspius, Rutilus rutilus caspius, Sander lucioperca, Sander marinus, and Sander volgensis 50 individuals were examined whilst 6 individuals of Siluris glanis were examined. The nematode parasite Anisakis schupakovi was found in all fish species except Liza aurata, Carassius aurata, Cyprinus carpio and Rutilus rutilus at intensities ranging from 1 to 1197 parasites per infected fish. Trematodes of family Diplostomidae were also isolated from all fish except Alosa saposhnikowii, Clupeonella cul- triventris and Sander marinus at intensities ranging from 1 to 242 parasites per infected fish. Other parasites found included the nematodes Porrocaecum reticulatum, Contracecum sp, Camallanus sp and Eustrongylus excisus; the cestodes Neogryporhynchus cheilancristrotus, Bothriocephalus opsariichthydis; the monogenean parasites Mazocraes alosa, Ancyrocephalus paradocus, Gyrodactylus spp, Ligophorus vanbenedenii and Dactylogyrus spp; and the crustacean parasites Ergasilus sp. and Synergasilus sp. In addition one unidentified species of nematode and a bivalve of the genus Unio was recovered from Rutilus rutilus caspius. There was no association between Fulton’s condition index and intensity of parasite infection.

IV. 2007 Annotated checklist of fish and lamprey species (Gnathostomata and Petromyzontomorphi) of Turkey, including a Red List of threatened and declining species RONALD FRICKE, MURAT BILECENOGLU & HASAN MUSA SARI Abstract An annotated checklist of fish and lamprey species of Turkey comprises a total of 694 species in 155 families (including 45 species which are not native). 248 species (plus 13 intro- duced) occur in fresh water; the largest freshwater fish families are the Cyprinidae, Balitori- dae and Cobitidae. 279 species (plus eight introduced) live in transitional waters. In marine habitats, 434 species (plus 46 immigrated or introduced) are found, with the Gobiidae and Sparidae being the largest families. While there is no marine endemic faunal element in Turkey, and only three species endemic to transitional waters, the freshwater fish fauna com- prises a total of 78 endemic species (31.5 % of the total native species). 23 endemic fish species are found in the central lakes (including seven in Beyșehir Gölü, six in Eg˘irdir Gölü), 12 each in Anatolian Aegean Sea watersheds (most in Büyük Menderes River) and in Anatolian Black sea watersheds, 11 in the upper reaches of the Persian/Arabian Gulf watersheds, nine in the Anatolian Mediterranean Sea watersheds, eight in western Anatolian lake watersheds, and seven in the Asi Nehri/Orontes. Apterichtus caecus (Linnaeus, 1758), Chromogobius zebratus (Kolombatovic´, 1891), Gobius fallax Sarato, 1889, Nemacheilus insignis (Heckel, 1843), Opeatogenys gracilis (Canestrini, 1864) and Pomatoschistus quagga (Heckel, 1837) are recorded from Turkish waters for the first time.
