Mots-clés France - Royaume-Uni - Tunnel sous la Manche - Transports intermodaux - Continuité territoriale Abstract : The aim of linking London to the continent has, since the last century and above during the last 25 years , been the object of a search for ever more advanced methods getting ever closer to a land link. For the transport of people, a number of methods have succeeded each other : ferry ports and rail-ferries reflected the triumph of the train-boat partnership, the car-ferries manifested the era of the car, hovercraft expressed the need for speed and, finally, the rail tunnel which assures an almost perfect territorial link.

Document généré le 28 sept. 2021 22:32 Les Cahiers de la Société québécoise de recherche en musique Le Train bleu : déraillement stylistique entre danse et musique ? Le Train bleu: Were Dance and Music Off the Rails?

  • An Unbroken Line Exhibition -Pdf
AN UNBROKEN LINE Page 1 of 4 Download press release as Word file AN UNBROKEN LINE World of the Bentley Designer uncovered at new exhibition (Crewe, England. 10 February 2011) Bentley’s Design team are offering a rare opportunity to take a glimpse inside the usually secret and closed world of their studios and follow the development of a Bentley from the first sketch right through to the moment it sweeps through the factory gates. The ‘An Unbroken Line’ exhibition – just unveiled at Bentley’s Crewe headquarters – follows the compelling story of creativity and exacting technical precision behind the creation of the latest Bentleys including the Continental GT and Mulsanne. Many of the very first drawings for the new Continental GT, including concepts consigned to the studio archives, are being shown publicly for the first time. The designers offer a step-by-step guide as to how the interior and exterior styles take shape both through computer virtualization and sophisticated full-scale clay models. They also provide an insight into how they employ state-of-the- art manufacturing techniques such as aluminium superforming, adapted from the aerospace industry, to shape the metal into the complex but clean lines that define the new Continental GT. As well as capturing how the modern Bentley designer combines inspiration with technology – the exhibition also captures key moments of the company’s lineage and the unbroken line of signature characteristics that define a Bentley to this day. Whether it is the particular shape and positioning of the headlights, the use of inverted needles on the dashboard or the pronounced ‘powerlines’ that sweep down the flanks of the car – the language of design comes to life.

  • Press Introduced by Gillian Rhys
P R E S S K I T Venice Simplon-Orient-Express introduced by Gillian Rhys HISTORY The legendary Venice Simplon-Orient-Express recreates all the magic of the golden age of travel. A collection of original 1920s carriages crafted to convey the rich, famous and powerful throughout Europe, it is one of the world’s great travel experiences. Each of its 17 carriages was once part of glamorous, historic trains such as Le Train Bleu and the Rome Express—and has its own story to tell. The advent of air travel saw luxury trains fall from favour — but in 1977 American businessman James B Sherwood (founder of the Belmond portfolio) sensed a renewed appetite for a more elegant style of escape. Encouraged by press interest in antique carriages at a Monte Carlo auction, he snapped up two sleeping cars with a view to launching a fabulous vintage train linking London and Venice. He continued to seek out more, scouring Europe’s museums, railway sidings and even private gardens where some lay abandoned or used as fanciful dining rooms. All were lovingly restored to their Art Deco splendour and relaunched as the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express in 1982. Two sleeping cars, 3543 and 3544, feature interior designs by the renowned designer René Prou. During the Second World War the latter was stored in Limoges, France where it was used as a brothel. Sleeping car 3425 was part of the train on which King Carol of Romania escaped with his mistress in 1940. The three dining cars have equally intriguing pedigrees.

PRESS RELEASE Monaco, 23rd September 2019 Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer celebrates Luck at a surprising picnic in the new Boulingrins Gardens After transformation, comes celebration! On Saturday 21 September 2019, Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer welcomed its customers with pomp and imagination to a surprising picnic in the Boulingrins Gardens overlooking Monaco's most legendary spot: Casino Square. Organised as part of the My Monte-Carlo loyalty scheme and supervised by Jean-Luc Biamonti, Chairman of the Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer Group, alongside designer Charles Kaisin and ten Resort Chefs, this ‘Fortune smiles on us’ themed picnic was an opportunity to celebrate the new Monte-Carlo and thank its most loyal customers. This outstanding event is completely in step with the Group strategy to assert itself as Europe’s most exclusive destination in 2020. ‘Fortune smiles on us’: a unique experience by My Monte-Carlo. At midday on Saturday 21 September, 400 Resort customers discovered an incredible installation in the completely redesigned Boulingrins Gardens, a natural, verdant setting, for an enchanting picnic on Monaco’s most legendary square. A chic and glamorous take on the traditional picnic, a huge table spanned the Gardens, shaded by 100 red parasols. The theme was games and luck and the staging featured all the hallmarks of Charles Kaisin’s dreamlike aesthetics with giant photocalls in fresh flowers, 52 servers dressed with playing cards, magicians and other gestures for special guests. Attendees were captured at the event by Nice-born illustrator Virginie Broquet, Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres, to give them a poetic and tender souvenir of this unique moment.

  • Paris, Provence and the Languedoc
Paris, Provence and the Languedoc June 4th - 15th, 2003 ome and visit a country that has everything! Stunning countryside full of contrasts, the finest food and wine, beautiful cities, and a cultural C heritage that stretches from the prehistoric to the avant-garde. Whether you’re a first-time traveler to France, or have visited many times before, this trip will offer you something new. In addition to the well-loved sights of Paris and the beauty of Provence, we’ll travel to the Languedoc in south-western France, a region whose history and natural beauties have long been a well-kept secret. We begin in Paris and give ourselves a chance to get reacquainted with its splendors on our city sightseeing tour and, for those who wish, a jaunt out to see the Sun King’s palace at Versailles. From our four-star hotel tucked in behind the Madeleine, we’ll explore the city before our journey by high-speed rail to the vineyards and lavender fields of the south. Avignon The citadel of Carcassonne is our base for discovering the Languedoc, the region the Romans first settled when they came to Gaul over 2000 years ago. In the Middle Ages it was a separate place, with its own language and troubadour traditions that owed nothing to Paris and the French court. It was also a hotbed of heresy, as the ruins of Cathar castles dotted around the region still attest. As well as these, and the vineyards that stretch for miles all around, we’ll visit the medieval towns of Albi and Pezenas with their strong artistic associations.
