HCD CONCEPT VEHICLES: 1992 THROUGH 2003

HCD­I

Two­place sports concept vehicle. Debuted at the North American International Auto Show in January 1992. First vehicle designed by the Hyundai California Design Studio.

HCD­II

Unique three­place sports with 2 + 1 seating configuration. Introduced at the North American International Auto Show in January 1993

HCD­III

Four­wheel­drive vehicle with off­road utility and car­like ride and handling. The HCD­III made its world debut at the North American International Auto Show in January of 1995.

HCD­IV (Santa Fe)

The Hyundai Santa Fe concept was introduced at the North American International Auto Show in January 1999 as a car­based sport utility vehicle. The production version of the front­wheel­drive and 4WD Santa Fe went on sale in 2000 as a 2001 model year vehicle.

HCD­V Crosstour

The Crosstour, introduced at the Chicago Auto Show in February 2000, is a multipurpose ; designed as an alternative vehicle to a traditional SUV.

HCD­6 Roadster

When it was first introduced at the Chicago Auto Show in February 2001 the Hyundai HCD­6 Roadster was dubbed the "affordable exotic car." The Hyundai HCD6 Roadster is a two­, open top roadster with many unique features.

HCD­7 Luxury Sedan

Hyundai's HCD­7 luxury 4­door sedan, which was unveiled at the Chicago Auto Show in February 2002, provided a look at what might be the company's next step up from the luxurious XG350 sedan.

Since it was established in 1990, the Hyundai California Design Center has produced seven outstanding, show­stopping concept vehicles. Number eight, initiating the new era of HCD vehicles, will be the first vehicle designed at the new $30 million dollar Hyundai Kia Design and Technical Center in Irvine, Calif. The HCD8 is scheduled to make its world debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January 2004.
