Innovation and Networks Executive Agency (INEA) The Action contributes to the implementation of PCI 7.1.3 "Gas pipeline http://inea.ec.europa.eu from Greece to Italy via and the Adriatic Sea [currently known as the "Trans-Adriatic Pipeline" (TAP)]", which aims to transport natural gas Agency for the Cooperation of Energy from the Shah Deniz II field in Azerbaijan to Europe. The project is currently Regulators (ACER) in its implementation phase. The construction of the pipeline has started in www.acer.europa.eu 2016.

European Network of Transmission The objective of the Action is to carry out a series of archaeological trial System Operators for Gas (ENTSOG) trench investigations in the Greek regions of , , , www.entsog.eu , , , , , and , in order to determine the presence of buried archaeological remains, as well as any rescue excavation activities which arise as a result of the trial cuts or from chance finds. The proposed Action's deliverables are full and complete clearance of all cultural heritage issues that arise or might arise along the proposed pipeline route in Greece.

Once built, TAP will provide a direct and cost-effective transportation route completing the Southern Gas Corridor, a 3500 km gas value chain stretching from the Caspian Sea to Europe. TAP will be 879 km in length and will cross the territory of Greece (551 km), Albania (215 km), the Adriatic Sea (105 km) and Italy (8 km).
