Travel to some of the most famous sites in Greece, Pozar Baths in Loutraki, Edessa, Nymfaio & Vergina. All destinations and points of interest will be uploaded to the GPS that comes with the motorcycle to make your journey convenient and enjoyable.
As you ride up north you will visit the natural formations of rocks that have been created by the corrosion of the ground through the years and are known with the names “Bouharia”
The Bouharia resemble chimneys, as is evident by their name (“bouhari” means chimney in the local dialect). We will then cross the Servia bridge one of the longest bridges in Greece, with a length of 1,372 meters before reaching the birthplace of Alexander the Great in the prefecture of Pella where lies a place of intense beauty.
Imagine being in a pool amidst the forest with running waterfalls surrounding you. The warm water will relax you and the cold waterfalls will refresh you in a serene and sensational natural setting. The Pozar baths are located at the foot of Kaimaktsalan one of the most famous ski resort mountains in Northern Greece.
The capital of Pella, Edessa, is called the city of waters due to its 7 waterfalls! The biggest and most impressive drops 70m among plane trees. A visit will amaze you and a short walk in the town’s alleys will mesmerize you.
Nymfaio is one of the most picturesque traditional settlements of Europe according to UNESCO at an altitude of 1.350 m. Its architecture, stone built houses and paths coupled with a sublime forest make it a wonderful destination. Let’s not forget the bear sanctuary called Arcturos that is located very near to the village. Ex-captive bears live in a fenced area imitating a natural habitat. Volunteers are working hard so that the bears can be reintegrated in their natural habitat.
As you decent south you will visit the town of Naousa with the wonderful park of Agios Nikolaos. You will relax in the scenic park and enjoy a cold beverage before reaching the Monastery of Theotokos Kallipetras on the shores of Aliakmonas River. The route will surely astound you and the scenery will mesmerize you. Finally we will visit the birthplace of Alexander the Great in Vergina. Vergina is best known as the site of ancient Aegae, the first capital of Macedonia. The excavation of 1976, unearthed burial sites of many kings of Macedon, including the tomb of Philip II, father of Alexander the Great. The archaeological museum of Vergina was built to house all the artifacts found at the site and is one of the most important museums in Greece. A magnificent 4 day motorcycle tour experience full of amazing landscapes, history and sights.
Itinerary
1 - GS Traveler Moto Rentals - Pozar Baths - 643 Athens to Pozar Baths
Get acquainted with your BMW rental motorbike at the tour company's office. After a short briefing of the tour & itinerary, take off on your BMW. All destinations and points of interest will be uploaded to the GPS that comes with the motorcycle.
Stop At: Loutra Pozar, Loutraki, Aridaia
You will travel north passing the city of Trikala, Meteora and then on to Loutraki in Aridaia. You will witness the "Bouharia", a geological phenomenon resembling Cappadocia as well cross the Servia bridge. The route is spectacular and the sights magnificent.
2 - Pozar Baths - Edessa Waterfalls - 38 Pozar Baths to Skra Waterfalls and Edessa
Stop At: Edessa Waterfalls, Edessa
Tour to wonderful natural landscapes and visit places that no one associates with Greece! The Skra waterfalls and Edessa waterfalls will provide you with the right stimuli for amazing pictures as well as endless relaxation in a fantastic motorcycle route.
3 - Pozar Baths - Nymfaio - 85 Pozar Baths to Νymfaio via Vegoritida Lake
Stop At: Nymfaio, Nymfaio, Florina Region, West Macedonia Examine the sublime architecture and the stone-built mansions that will simply leave you in awe.
Visit the nearby bear sanctuary called Arctouros which is also a very significant point of interest as bears are nurtured back to their natural habitat with the care of volunteers.
Return via Lake Vegoritida and the mountain Kaimaktsalan on a route that will take your breath away.
4 - Vergina - GS Traveler Moto Rentals - 84 Pozar to Athens via Vergina
Stop At: Museum of the Royal Tombs of Aigai (Vergina), Imathia, Vergina
Start your descent to Athens via Naousa. The route, the parks will relax you before reaching Vergina. The birthplace of Alexander the Great.
