INSURANCE THROUGH THE CU

Students who are enrolled at the Catholic University of Eichstätt- Ingolstadt are automatically insured against accidents.

Insurance covers: - all activities connected with course of studies - participation in lecture(s) and other activities at the university - en route between living quarters and university

Every type of accident is to be reported immediately to the Registrar’s Office or the Faculty’s Administration Office in Ingolstadt.

Private insurance coverage - relieves the obligation to be insured - enables a visit to a German doctor free of charge (you must only pay a quarterly consultation fee of € 10,00 and if necessary, a minimal additional payment of (approx. € 5,00) for medicine)

2. Students without statutory health insurance

It is possible for these students to take out a health insurance policy with a statutory health insurance company at students rates (approx. € 76.00 per month).

Your study at the CU – Studying in Germany

STUDYING IN GERMANY 1. GERMAN UNIVERSITY SYSTEM

Universities and Universities of Applied Sciences

Up until a few years ago, it was possible (after approx. 5 years) of studying, to receive a degree - (either a diploma, a Master’s, or take a state exam)

Since the Bologna-Reform, it is possible to receive the following degrees in Europe: x Bachelor (3 years): Prerequisite for a Bachelor’s Degree is the German Abitur (diploma from a German secondary school qualifying for university admission), or equivalent. x Master (2 years): Prerequisite for a Master’s Degree is the Bachelor Degree. A difference is made between consecutive Master studies which have certain Bachelor Degrees as a prerequisite; and non-consecutive Master studies.

Academic studies require, among other things, attending lectures, seminars, internships, tutorials, and private study. x Lectures: Courses with approximately 30 – 200 students, in which the professor imparts knowledge to the class. x Seminars: A difference is made between undergraduate seminars (undergraduate: 1-4 semester) and graduate seminars (graduate: from 5 semester on). As a rule, students give presentations in the seminars. x Tutorials: Some lectures and seminars offer accompanying tutorials where the material is covered in more detail.

Knowledge acquired during the semester is recalled through presentations, final exams, and term papers. A scholarly paper such as a Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis is expected/required at the end of your studies.

Jurisdiction for universities in Germany are at the Federal State level, which means that whether/how much tuition fees are charged for academic studies solely depends on the respective state.

W+$7,6$ƎCATHOLIC UNIVERSITY“?

In terms of scientific research and education, a Catholic University is on equal terms with state-run universities. This means that exams, academic certification, and credentials are awarded the same rights and are fully recognized as those at other state universities. Admission to study at the CU is possible irrespective of religious denomination.
