READY FOR DELIVERY TO THE CONNETQUOT LIBRARY, ALONG WITH A LETTER FROM OUR LODGE.

President Bob had to bring a hand truck to move the boxes from the car to the Childrens Desk. When we arrived at the Childrens Desk, I told the ladies behind the counter that we had a donation. They could not see the boxes on the handcart from behind their tall desk. They told me to put the books in the basket, and I said “oh I don’t think these are all going to fit, and there are more in the car. They came around from behind the desk, and were very surprised and thrilled at the abundance of books. ABBONDANZA

Our Lodge did a very good deed for those in need.

MARIO MINITTI-born December 8, 1577 was an Italian artist active in Sicily after 1606. Born in Syracuse, Sicily, he arrived in Rome in 1593, where he became the friend, collaborator and model of the key Baroque painter Merisi da Caravaggio. His main fame today is his work as a model in many of Caravaggio’s early works, including Boy with a Basket of Fruit, The Fortune Teller, The Musicians, Boy Bitten by a Lizard, The Lute Player and more. It is clear that he brought to Sicily the lessons he had learned from Caravagio, in particular the use of dramatic chiaroscuro and the depiction of scenes seized at the moment of greatest dramatic intensity. In a nearby field, an Angel of the Lord appeared to shepherds who were tending flocks of sheep by night. The Angel announced that the Savior of the world had been born in the town of David, “ And this will be a sign for you, you will find the child wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.” Suddenly a great host of heavenly beings appeared with the Angel and began singing praises to God: “GLORY TO GOD IN THE HIGHEST, AND ON EARTH, PEACE, GOODWILL TOWARD MEN.”

As the Angelic beings departed, the shepherds hurried to Bethlehem and found Baby in the Manger.
