Application http://aarch.dk/17/guest_studies/how_to_apply/ material: Housing: All exchange students may choose to live in dormitories and this is administrated through the Aarhus School of Architecture Entry levels: As of now, the Aarhus School of Architecture exchange students only on the Master level (graduate level). This situation is currently under consideration so that we in the near future may be admitting exchange students on the bachelor level too. Exchange students are admitted to the 1st and/or 2nd semester of the master program, where we expect a very high degree of self motivation and independence. Student work is arranged around study groups, where foreign students are paired up with local students concerning project and workshops. Academic The Aarhus School of Architecture is divided up in 4 Departments Departments: (please refer to: http://en.aarch.dk/departments/). Incoming exchange students are assigned to one Department, and in their application for admission, the students may list three options. Course All exchange students are expected to complete a course load of 27-30 requirements: ECTS credits per semester Course It is very important to understand that the teaching methods and content/teaching course contents at this Architecture School is NOT divided up into method: classes and studios. In order to reflect the professional methods of the architecture profession, the students are expected to work as if they were employed in an architecture or design company.

This means that the content of a semester is one project of 15 ECTS credits, plus a number of workshops project related courses etc., totaling 30 ECTS credits. The ECTS distribution for one semester in the Department of Architecture may look as follows:

Workshop: Network Housing 1.5 ECTS Workshop: Housing Structure 3.0 ECTS Workshop: Housing Quality 1.5 ECTS Study tour, 1.5 ECTS Programming 3.0 ECTS Study Project 15.0 ECTS The Digital Building 4.5 ECTS

One ECTS credit corresponds to one week’s work.

It is therefore important that students studying with the Aarhus School of Architecture understands, that we do not have a fixed number of courses pre-scheduled in advance of the semester. Instead, the students will sign up for a theme/project. The project descriptions will be available to the students approx. one month prior to semester start.

The courses offered throughout the semester will reflect the different academic needs and challenges the students are met with. Since the course offering is decided on an analysis of the needs of a particular group/semester, we cannot publish any reading lists in advance.
