Oggi è veramente difficile immaginare di viaggiare, fare gite scolastiche senza uno spuntino veloce. L’inventore fu John Montagu, IV conte di Sandwich, nato il 3 novembre 1718 nell’omonima cittadina del Kent, in Gran Bretagna. John Montagu IV conte di Sandwich era solito pranzare al tavolo di lavoro. Per non perdere tempo, il conte suggerì al suo maggiordomo di servirgli della carne in mezzo a due pezzi di pane, così da gustare un piatto sostanzioso senza perdere troppo tempo. photo credit @ansa.it L’idea, nata a quanto sembra negli anni ’60 del Settecento, venne subito apprezzata dagli amici del conte di Sandwich, tanto che molti cominciarono a ordinare “lo stesso piatto che sta mangiando Sandwich” così da associare il nome del nobile a quello del panino. I maligni dicono che in realtà Montagu inventò il pasto per non allontanarsi dal tavolo da gioco e continuare a sfidare gli altri nobili senza doversi fermare un attimo. Personalmente sono una grande amante dei sandwich, mi piace tanto mischiare vari ingredienti e provare sempre gusti nuovi. Così ho deciso di fare una ricerca e di farvi vedere quali sono i sandwich più popolari d’Europa. Visto che non possiamo viaggiare almeno possiamo provare a farli noi in casa.
