The BSP is a system designed to facilitate and simplify the selling, reporting and remitting procedures of IATA Accredited Passenger Sales Agents, as well as improve financial control and cash flow for BSP airlines. In 2016, IATA's BSP processed a total of $219 billion. There is, however, much more to explore in Siem Reap – and indeed Cambodia – than these ancient wonders. Arun in-flight magazine November 2017 - March 2018 17 An estimated 80% of the Cambodian population live in rural areas, so getting out of town and into the countryside can be an incredible way to connect with local communities, while deepening your understanding of the Kingdom and its people. While heading off to the horizon by yourself might be a little daunting, there are thankfully a number of excellent organisations offering community-based tours in and around Siem Reap. One of these is Buffalo Trails (not to be confused with the Buffalo Tours), specialising in countryside experiences in the founders’ home village, located approximately 40 minutes south of Siem Reap by car. For visitors on a tight schedule, the two half-day tour options could be ideal. Spend a morning riding along rice paddy-lined roads in a buffalo cart, stopping to learn about seasonal produce and centuries-old farming techniques along the way, as well as trying your hand at traditional palm leaf weaving. Alternatively, take a gentle 4km wander through the village, meandering along lotus ponds and through pagodas and local markets as you learn about life away from main roads, and internet connections. In addition, Buffalo Trails offers full-day and multi-day experience, some of which incorporate the Angkor Temples, as well as homestay opportunities in rural villages. All tours are private, so prices depend on the number of people in your group, but half-day

  • Business Etiquette, Language & Culture
Business etiquette, language & culture Page 1 of 5 Business etiquette, language & culture Overview Khmer is the official language of Cambodia and is used by roughly 90% of the population. Due to the past colonial rule by France, a number of French words exist in the language. However, English is not widely understood, particularly amongst the older generation and in rural areas. Business cards should be translated into Cambodian and printed in English on one side and Cambodian on the other. Use the services of a professional translator (rather than translating online) – a list of translators and interpreters has been prepared by the British Embassy Phnom Penh for the convenience of British Nationals who may require these services and assistance in Cambodia, at: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/cambodia-list-of-translators-and- interpreters. As in China, business cards should be given and received with both hands and studied carefully. This is particularly important when dealing with Cambodia’s ethnic Chinese minority, many of whom hold influential positions in the country’s business community. The Cambodian culture is conservative and hierarchical, and Theravada Buddhism is practiced by 95% of the population. Followers adhere to the concept of collectivism – the idea that the family, neighbourhood and society is more important than the wishes of the individual – and as in many Asian cultures the sense of ‘face’ is also considered paramount. Consequently you should avoid causing public embarrassment, not lose your temper in public and strive to maintain a sense of harmony. As a sign of respect for western customs, handshakes are the norm between men, but it is not uncommon to greet women with the “Sampeah” – the placing of palms together in a prayer-like position at chest level, with a slight bow of the head.

  • People in Cambodia Gets Very Excited in November Because It Is a Festival Season
The story of how God establish His School in Cambodia 13 (2015.10.20) People in Cambodia gets very excited in November because it is a festival season. There is a festival called Bon Om Touk in November which can be translated as ‘Water Festival’. The festival is to commemorate the victory in the 12th century of the Angkorian era. Cambodians think this had achieved peace and prosperity. The King, Preah Bath Jayavarman VII, (regarded as one of the greatest kings) led the victory in a naval war against the neighboring Chams (Vietnam). In this festival season, teams of competitors prepare to race in Water Festival boat races on the Tonle Sap river (part of the Mekong river) in Phnom Penh. There are fire works at night as well. It is a great time of festival with lots of fun. When there are festivals, we wonder whether there will be a time when the people in Cambodia will be joyful because of God. In the villages, most of the people do not know what Christmas is, which means they do not know who Jesus is and why he came to the Earth. For His International Services the first and foremost purpose of His School project is to spread the good news of Jesus Christ. We are also committed to provide quality education, knowing too that Cambodia needs the gospel of Jesus Christ. Pray that the nation of Cambodia will one day be excited because of the gospel of Jesus Christ 1. Bon Om Touk (Water Festival) in November is a 3-day public holiday.

  • Destination: Angkor Archaeological Park the Complete Temple Guide
Destination: Angkor Archaeological Park The Complete Temple Guide 1 The Temples of Angkor Ak Yom The earliest elements of this small brick and sandstone temple date from the pre-Angkorian 8th century. Scholars believe that the inscriptions indicate that the temple is dedicated to the Hindu 'god of the depths'. This is the earliest known example of the architectural design of the 'temple-mountain', which was to become the primary design for many of the Angkorian period temples including Angkor Wat. The temple is in a very poor condition. Angkor Thom Angkor Thom ("Great City") was the last and most enduring capital city of the Khmer empire. It was established in the late 12th century by King Jayavarman VII. The walled and moated royal city covers an area of 9 km², within which are located several monuments from earlier eras as well as those established by Jayavarman and his successors. At the centre of the city is Jayavarman's state temple, the Bayon, with the other major sites clustered around the Victory Square immediately to the north. Angkor Thom was established as the capital of Jayavarman VII's empire, and was the centre of his massive building programme. One inscription found in the city refers to Jayavarman as the groom and the city as his bride. Angkor Thom is accessible through 5 gates, one for each cardinal point, and the victory gate leading to the Royal Palace area. Angkor Wat Angkor Wat ("City of Temples"), the largest religious monument in the world, is a masterpiece of ancient architecture. The temple was built by the Khmer King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century as his state temple and eventual mausoleum.
