Overnight: Siem Reap www.roundtrips.global [email protected] Roundtrips Itinerary Day - 2 Siem Reap SIEM REAP: TEMPLE TOUR & SUNSET ON GONDOLA PADDLE BOAT (B, L, D) Take an elephant ride from the South Gate of Angkor Thom through the jungle to the famous Bayon temple, which is unique with its 54 towers decorated with over 200 smiling faces of Avolokitesvara. Continue to visit then the Phimeanakas, the Royal Enclosure, the Elephants Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King. Lunch is served at a local restaurant. During the afternoon visit Angkor Wat. It is a World Heritage Site since 1992 and famous for its beauty and splendour. Angkor Wat features the longest continuous bas-relief in the world which runs along the outer gallery walls and narrates stories from Hindu mythology. In the evening, enjoy a relaxing cruise in a gondola paddle boat in the moat of the Angkor Thom compound while watching the romantic sunset at Prasat Chroung temple. Dinner is served at a local restaurant. Overnight: Siem Reap Day - 3 Siem Reap SIEM REAP TOUR: KBAL SPEAN, BANTEAY SREI & TA PROHM (B, D) After breakfast, drive to Kbal Spean and walk around 45 minutes through the forest in order to reach the top of the hill, the “Thousand Linga River.” Discover the 10th – 12th century sculptures chiselled into the rocky riverbed, the Royal Bath and the waterfall. Continue to the enchanting temple of the Banteay Srei, nearly everyone’s favourite site. The special charm of this temple lies in its compact size, remarkable state of preservation, and the excellence of it decorative carvings. Return to Siem Reap town and visit one of the area’s most beautiful temples, Ta Prohm (mid-12th – early 13th century). Intentionally, left partially unrestored, massive fig and silk-cotton trees grow through it, the towers and corridors offering a ‘jungle atmosphere’ and some of the best ‘tree-in-temple’ photo opportunities are here to find. During the evening, before heading to Dinner including the Apasara Show, enjoy a 60 Minutes traditional Body Massage.     Destination: Angkor Archaeological Park The Complete Temple Guide 1 The Temples of Angkor Ak Yom The earliest elements of this small brick and sandstone temple date from the pre-Angkorian 8th century. Scholars believe that the inscriptions indicate that the temple is dedicated to the Hindu 'god of the depths'. This is the earliest known example of the architectural design of the 'temple-mountain', which was to become the primary design for many of the Angkorian period temples including Angkor Wat. The temple is in a very poor condition. Angkor Thom Angkor Thom ("Great City") was the last and most enduring capital city of the Khmer empire. It was established in the late 12th century by King Jayavarman VII. The walled and moated royal city covers an area of 9 km², within which are located several monuments from earlier eras as well as those established by Jayavarman and his successors. At the centre of the city is Jayavarman's state temple, the Bayon, with the other major sites clustered around the Victory Square immediately to the north. Angkor Thom was established as the capital of Jayavarman VII's empire, and was the centre of his massive building programme. One inscription found in the city refers to Jayavarman as the groom and the city as his bride. Angkor Thom is accessible through 5 gates, one for each cardinal point, and the victory gate leading to the Royal Palace area. Angkor Wat Angkor Wat ("City of Temples"), the largest religious monument in the world, is a masterpiece of ancient architecture. The temple was built by the Khmer King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century as his state temple and eventual mausoleum.

    KBAL SPEAN, THE ACCB & BANTEAY SREY Explore the sacred mountains of Cambodia and witness one of Cambodia’s wildlife rehabilitation and rescue programs The Siem Reap River originates in the sacred mountain of Phnom Kulen, some 50km northeast of Siem Reap. Our route passes through timeless rural Cambodian villages and countryside before we stop at the dry deciduous forest near the slopes of the mountains.From here we will visit Kbal Spean, walking through protected forest to see the famous carved lingas in the stream-bed. There is also the opportunity to visit the Angkor Center for Conservation and Biodiversity (ACCB), the first nature conservation and endangered wildlife rescue and breeding center in Cambodia. The center aims to promote the rescue and rehabilitation of certain native Cambodian wildlife and to establish a conservation breeding program to enable reintroduction of native species.Before leaving the area, we will visit Banteay Srey temple which has spectacular pink sandstone sculptures.
