Your hotel is conveniently located close to shopping areas and tourist attractions. Take a jog around the nearby lake where the local people do their exercising. 1800 “Welcome to Vietnam” Cocktail. Dinner on own Tue 28 Nov In Hanoi. 0600 If you are an early riser, consider meeting in the lobby for an easy jog around one of the nearby lakes and to see the thousands of local people doing their exercises and tai chi. Buffet Breakfast at hotel. 0830 Morning City Sightseeing includes the One Pillar Pagoda, past the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Temple of Literature (Vietnam’s first university started in the 11th C.) and the site of the infamous “Hanoi Hilton” prison. Relax this afternoon. Lunch on own. 1800 Water Puppet Show at the Municipal Water Puppet Theatre, a truly magical centuries old traditional performance depicting ancient fables and every day Vietnamese life. Dinner on own. Try one of the fine restaurants in town. Wed 29 Nov In Hanoi. Buffet Breakfast at hotel. 0730 Full day excursion to Halong Bay, a World Heritage Site. Halong Bay is a maze of soaring karst limestone towers out of the sea, similar to the ones in the Andaman Sea. Includes a boat ride passing the islands of Trong, Mai, Am, Chen and Cong Troi (Heaven Gates), and stopping at one of the islands to visit caves. Lunch provided on the boat. Overnight at Novotel Halong Bay Hotel Dinner on own. Thur 30 Nov Halong Bay – Siem Reap, Cambodia. Buffet Breakfast at hotel. Morning at leisure to browse around town on your own. Early afternoon transfer to the airport. Leave Hanoi Arrive Siem Reap, Cambodia. Meet and greet and transfer to your PRINCE D’ANGKOR HOTEL & SPA 1930 “Welcome to Cambodia” pool-side BBQ dinner. Fri 01 Dec In Siem Reap. Buffet breakfast at hotel. 0800 Drive to the archaeological park and explore Angkor Wat, the finest (and largest) ancient religious structure in the world. Continue to nearby Angkor Thom, a fortified royal city built in the 12th century and home to as many as one million people during its prime. Visit Bayon, a fascinating temple of narrow corridors, steep stairs and an amazing collection of 54 towers decorated with smiling faces on each side. Also see the Elephant Terrace, Royal Palace and the Leper King Terrace. Back to your hotel for lunch on own. Afternoon at leisure. Dinner on own. Sat 02 Dec In Siem Reap. Buffet breakfast at hotel. 0800 Morning visit to Ta Prohm where most of the dense jungle has not been cleared and looks very much as most of the Angkor monuments would have appeared when European explorers first stumbled across them in the late 19th century. Visti the Banteay Srei Temple, built in the late 10th century. A magnificent monument of fine art and filigree relief work. Lunch at Rumchong Restaurant Sunset over the Cambodian countryside from the upper terraces of an ancient Angkorian Temple. 1700 Bib packet distribution in the lobby of our hotel. 1830- Pasta Loading Dinner at hotel. Tuck in early! Sun 03 Dec Race Day! The day you have been waiting for. 0500 Light breakfast items at the hotel. 0540 Early morning drive to nearby Angkor Wat Temple, the start of the Angkor Wat Half Marathon or 10K. We will have our own KLE recovery tent with refreshments, fruits and beer. An experience to remember! Relax at the hotel’s large pool this afternoon feeling exhausted, yet triumphant. A good time to take a post-race massage at the hotel. 1800 “Mission Accomplished” cocktail party at the Pool Bar of our hotel. 1900 Dinner on own. At Kbal Spean, also known as the River of 1000 Lingas, there are carvings in the riverbed (in the same way as at Kulen). Near Kbal Spien is a waterfall that can be reached by hiking 2km uphill. A fascinating canoe outing in the famous Phang Nga Bay to visit the bay’s Hongs and Tidal Caves by guided sea kayak. Your escort boat is fully staffed with a captain, two boat boys, two cooks and the guides. At mid-day, a sumptuous Seafood Buffet Lunch will be served aboard the escort boat. In the late afternoon, the escort boat will drop us off on the picturesque and lush island of Koh Yao Noi at the PARADISE KOH YAO RESORT & SPA 1800 “Welcome to Phang Nga Bay” cocktail and dinner at the resort.     Destination: Angkor Archaeological Park The Complete Temple Guide 1 The Temples of Angkor Ak Yom The earliest elements of this small brick and sandstone temple date from the pre-Angkorian 8th century. Scholars believe that the inscriptions indicate that the temple is dedicated to the Hindu 'god of the depths'. This is the earliest known example of the architectural design of the 'temple-mountain', which was to become the primary design for many of the Angkorian period temples including Angkor Wat. The temple is in a very poor condition. Angkor Thom Angkor Thom ("Great City") was the last and most enduring capital city of the Khmer empire. It was established in the late 12th century by King Jayavarman VII. The walled and moated royal city covers an area of 9 km², within which are located several monuments from earlier eras as well as those established by Jayavarman and his successors. At the centre of the city is Jayavarman's state temple, the Bayon, with the other major sites clustered around the Victory Square immediately to the north. Angkor Thom was established as the capital of Jayavarman VII's empire, and was the centre of his massive building programme. One inscription found in the city refers to Jayavarman as the groom and the city as his bride. Angkor Thom is accessible through 5 gates, one for each cardinal point, and the victory gate leading to the Royal Palace area.     KBAL SPEAN, THE ACCB & BANTEAY SREY Explore the sacred mountains of Cambodia and witness one of Cambodia’s wildlife rehabilitation and rescue programs The Siem Reap River originates in the sacred mountain of Phnom Kulen, some 50km northeast of Siem Reap. Our route passes through timeless rural Cambodian villages and countryside before we stop at the dry deciduous forest near the slopes of the mountains.From here we will visit Kbal Spean, walking through protected forest to see the famous carved lingas in the stream-bed. There is also the opportunity to visit the Angkor Center for Conservation and Biodiversity (ACCB), the first nature conservation and endangered wildlife rescue and breeding center in Cambodia. The center aims to promote the rescue and rehabilitation of certain native Cambodian wildlife and to establish a conservation breeding program to enable reintroduction of native species.Before leaving the area, we will visit Banteay Srey temple which has spectacular pink sandstone sculptures.
