Rural Definition  The Rural Definition was introduced in 2004 and uses data from the Census 2001 survey. An Introductory Guide and Methodology Report are available from the DEFRA website. The urban rural definition data by ward and output area is available to download from ONS at http://www.ons.gov.uk/ons/guide- method/geography/products/area-classifications/rural-urban-definition-and-la/rural-urban-definition-- -and-wales-/index.html . Stage of Census 2011 release  To-date ONS have released the univariate data from the Census 2011 survey. Multivariate data will start to become available between May and June 2013 with further releases from August to October 2013. The multivariate data will allow analysis of (for example) unemployment by ethnic group or communal establishment population by age.  Further information on Census releases is available in the 2011 Census Output Prospectus at http://www.ons.gov.uk/ons/guide-method/census/2011/census-data/2011-census-prospectus/index.html
