That’s why we offer a range of different ways to travel depending on what suits you. We’re flexible on how and when you travel, and even who you travel with – whether that’s with like-minded travellers on a group trip, or friends and family on a private tour… Guided Groups For those of you that are new to Exodus, guided group trips are our most popular type of holiday. Guided exploration, with a small group of like-minded travellers is how we began, and we’ve been doing it for over 40 years now. Our groups are normally between 8-16 people. This The Inside Story means our trips aren’t disruptive to the places we visit, SUE CLARKE, EXODUS TRAVELLER and having a smaller number of guests creates a good Sue Clarke has now taken at least six trips with group dynamic too. You’ll get to know a range of people us to destinations as diverse as Croatia and who come from different backgrounds but have a shared Tanzania: “There have been times when I’ve interest in travel. It also works out better value for money only been able to take a holiday at short notice, making it easier to jump onto a group trip than as the costs of the trip are spread across the group. arrange anything with friends or family. Our passionate and knowledgeable guides are famous for going the extra mile to make sure your holiday is "It’s a wonderful way to see varied the best it can possibly be! and interesting places in great company, with a really good combination of solo travellers, couples and friends" And I’ve kept in touch with people from all of them, mainly through Facebook. It’s always been good to see what trips they go on, and add them to the wish list! It’s also meant I’ve visited some amazing locations that I hadn’t been planning to see, and places that I wouldn’t have come across without local knowledge – beautiful views, or unusual restaurants and bars. On my trip to Petra, our brilliant guide took us on a back route over lots of rocks past Berber caves so that we came out on an outcrop of rocks overlooking the famous Treasury, rather than at ground level – giving us some great photo opportunities.”. exodustravels.com/guidedgroups Around half of our customers travel solo, booking onto small group trips with a mixture of couples, other solo travellers and groups of friends. It’s a great way to meet like-minded people who share the same passion for travel. And on Exodus guided groups you’ll never have to pay more because you’re booking by yourself. For full holiday listings see from p42 WT INT-Front-end.indd 4 13/10/2016 15:45 5 Self-Guided Adventures Rather than following a guide who points you in the right direction, the decisions are yours to make; based on personal interests and preferences and detailed route notes that offer you all the information you’ll need for your destination. Prefer to spend a lazy afternoon picnicking by a riverbank? With self-guided travel you set your own pace, which means there’s always time for that paddle in the sea, the detour to visit the nearby chateaux, that extra piece of cake at lunchtime! For those looking for a little more independence, self-guided travel provides the opportunity for you to explore things in your own way. And of course, we take care of your luggage making sure it’s transferred and ready for you at your next accommodation. Private Adventures The idea is simple: have your adventure tailored to suit you. We can offer most of our holidays as private adventures, perfect if you’d like to travel with a group of friends or family, or fellow club members. We can run these trips with a minimum of just two people travelling, but the more people who travel, the less it costs per person. All you need to do is let us know which trip you fancy, how many people are travelling, and when you’d like to go. And, of course, you still have all the same benefits of a guided group trip, including the all-important local guide and their invaluable knowledge of your destination. exodustravels.com/privateadventures Flexibility There’s a world of activity and adventure out there – and our trips are hand-crafted to showcase the best, wherever you’re headed. But what happens if you want to take a detour? Linger a little while longer? Sometimes, going from A to B via C really is the only way to travel. We can tailor your tour to fit you perfectly. for chatting to other trekkers - swapping Want to add a bit of beach time after that notes and sharing photos at the hotel of an challenging trek? Conditions will be encountered in mountains that have a significant effect on. military operations. Mountain operations require, among other things^ special equipment, special training and acclimatization, and a high decree of self-discipline if operations are to succeed. Mountains of military significance are generally characterized by rugged compartmented terrain witn\steep slopes and few natural or manmade lines of communication. Weather in these mountains is seasonal and reaches across the entireSspectrum from extreme cold, with ice and snow in most regions during me winter, to extreme heat in some regions during the summer. AlthoughNthese extremes of weather are important planning considerations, the variability of weather over a short period of time—and from locality to locahty within the confines of a small area—also significantly influences tactical operations. Historically, the focal point of mountain operations has been the battle to control the heights. Changes in weaponry and equipment have not altered this fact. In all but the most extreme conditions of terrain and weather, infantry, with its light equipment and mobility, remains the basic maneuver force in the mountains. With proper equipment and training, it is ideally suited for fighting the close-in battfe commonly associated with mountain warfare. Mechanized infantry can\also enter the mountain battle, but it must be prepared to dismount and conduct operations on foot.

STUDIA GEOMORPHOLOGICA CARPATHO-BALCANICA VOL. XLV, 2011: 47–68 PL ISSN 0081-6434 EMIL GACHEV (BLAGOEVGRAD) INTER-ANNUAL SIZE VARIATIONS OF SNEZHNIKA GLACIERET (THE PIRIN MOUNTAINS, BULGARIA) IN THE LAST TEN YEARS Abstract: Glacierets, which are in fact embryonic forms of recent glaciation, can serve as important indicators of contemporary climate dynamics in areas where classical glaciers do not exist, such as the high mountains in Southeastern Europe. Two glacierets are located in Bulgaria’s Pirin Mountains: Snezhnika and Banski Suhodol. Snezhnika has been relatively well studied for the last 50 years, and in particular since 1994, when annual size measurements on a regular basis started. The present study focuses on the recent variations in the size of Snezhnika i.e. in the last ten years. Data about the area of the glacieret at the end of the ablation season (in autumn), which was obtained for each year by field measurements and analytical calculations, show that temperature can be considered as a major factor that drives glacieret fluctuations. At the current stage precipitation factor can not be evaluated properly due to the deficit of accurate climate information. Key words: the Pirin Mountains, glacierets, size variation, climate change, climatic factors INTRODUCTION Although small in size and volume, in many mountain areas glacierets are natu- ral features of sufficient value for studies of the dynamics of environmental proc- esses, climatic variations and change. Glacierets are small bodies of perennial ice, which are smaller than glaciers but bigger and more persistent than snow patches. Glacierets are typified by a density of close-to-bottom ice of about 0.6 to 0.8 g cm–3, presence of annual layers in the vertical cross-section, and long- term persistence — decades to centuries (G r u n e w a l d et al.

The explosions were initially triggered by a volatile oversaturated (4–7 wt.% H2O) magma. Several lines of evidences suggest a small blast surge, where a wood-rich pyroclastic deposit was emplaced as a ground layer, followed by several units of coarse-grained (MdΦ between −0.65 and −5.40) tephra deposits (LU: lapilli units, DAU: double ash units). LU-1, -2, -3, DAU-1 and -2 consist of unconsolidated and well- to poorly sorted vesiculated bombs and lapilli of andesite, some blocks, ash and shredded wood. The individual units are possibly correlated with the major explosions of July 29. The thickness of the deposits decreases with the distance from the volcano from 5.6 m to a few centimeters.

This is a holiday home consisting of two apartments that can accommodate 6 people each for a total of 12 people, No meals or other professional services are provided, just a whiff of a tourist destination. It is possible to rent the entire property for exclusive use - "Total Nisa" or just one apartment - "Terra Nisa" for the ground floor apartment, "Sopra Nisa" for the first floor apartment. By renting the entire structure you have the exclusive use of the swimming pool and the park, while if you rent an apartment the pool and park are shared with the guests of the other apartment. 5 La storia Monte Nisa is a villa built in 1934 on the top of a hill in Tuscany, in the Chianti Classico wine production area. Its quiet, panoramic and sunny position was chosen with great care and passion by the first owner, named Manetti, and the original toponym of "Villa Manetto" derived from his name. Manetti designed the villa to make it his "buen retiro" following and personally directing the construction work and taking care of every little detail. Subsequently the heirs sold the villa which since then experienced a troubled period, becoming from time to time a summer colony, recreational club, warehouse and even military command during the Second World War, suffering damage due to cannon fire.
