Steve was one of a group of students selling the charity paper as a community involvement activity, and he has continued volunteering for the organization ever since. Not only has he participated, but Steve has recruited many around him. His wife, Nancy Segura has sold the charity paper for many years, and daughter Elaine Young has done so since her high school days. Even son-in-law, Chris has peddled a paper or two. Steve’s daughters, Elaine, and Carolyn Imel, believe their father’s passion for the Old Newsboys stems from a dislike his own father had for seeing children without shoes on. Marge has sold the charity paper at the Rite Aid in Rossford, and can be found smiling whether in rain, sleet or sunshine. According to Michelle, the Old Newsboys helped the Segura’s in the past and her mother will therefore always give back.

Steve and Marge may be at odds when it comes to rooting for their favorite college football team, but they both have a drive for helping others less fortunate. Annually, many families become active in the paper sale, however, none have matched the sheer numbers in which the Segura family has devoted to the organization. Both have made volunteering a family affair.
