[email protected] www.historichawaii.org HISTORIC HAWAI‘I’S 40th ANNUAL PRESERVATION HONOR AWARDS CELEBRATE ACHIEVEMENTS IN HISTORIC PRESERVATION Historic Hawai‘i Foundation will honor exemplary achievement in the field of historic preservation at the 40th Annual Preservation Honor Awards ceremony on May 30, 2014. The annual ceremony includes preservation honor awards in four categories: Preservation Award for a specific project that preserved, rehabilitated, or restored a historic property; Preservation Commendation for an individual, organization, or government agency that engaged in advocacy, educational, programmatic, or other activity supporting preservation efforts, either for a specific historic property or through a broad-based program Preservation Media for a printed publication or visual presentation that interpreted the history, preservation or physical characteristics of a historic property; and Citation for New Construction for new infill in a historic district or additions to a historic property that protect and enhance the character of the historic resource. In addition, Anniversary Recognitions will be presented in celebration of the rich history of the kama‘āina companies, organizations and institutions that are an important and integral part of the singular culture of the Hawaiian Islands. Honors will be presented to the following: Preservation Award Category: 1. Battleship Missouri Officers' Staterooms Restoration: A full-scale restoration was undertaken to restore the Officers' Staterooms to their original form in order to provide visitors with a true sense of how officers lived and worked onboard while commanding the great battleship. The honoree is the USS Missouri Memorial Association.
