Dr. ~ldon Feurt, the new O...an of Pharmacy, (formerly with the University or Georgia) bas been the leader or many of the improvement projects of the school With an expected increased enrollment over this year's 189 students, it has been necessary lo expand laboratory space as well as research facilities. With new teachers, better equipment and proper student altitude, 1959-1960 could be the most prosperous year for the University of Tennessee Pharmacy School. Omega became a chapter of A.K.K. on March 24, 1903, when U.T. was located in Nash ville. In 1911 when U.T. moved to Mem:;>his, five actives of Omega and five actives of Phi Chapter migrated with the university, making AKK the oldest medical fraternity on the U .T. campus. On January 5, 1959, the A.K.K.'s moved into their new chapter house at 747 Court Ave. after many years of planning on the part of actives and alumni. Pharmacy on October 14, 1913. Since then Lambda Kappa Sigma has continued to grow and is now the oldest and largest pharmaceutical sorority with 34 active chapters in the United States and Canada and 15 graduate chapters. Our basic sorority operation pro vides for the training, of young womanhood culturally, socially, educationally and professionally. The "Mortar and Pestle Club" was formed at the University of Tennessee School of Pharmacy in Jan uary 1950. The ultimate goal of this organization was to become affiliated with the national sorority, Lambda Kappa Sigma. The hope became a reality when on May 18, 1951, the group was installed as Alpha Epsilon Chapter with eight charter members. Since that time membership has increased to forty-three with two hon ..
