Flood Disaster Situation Report 25Th May 2014 United Nations / Ujedinjene nacije / Уједињене нације Office of the Resident Coordinator / Ured rezidentnog koordinatora / Уред резидентног координатора Bosnia and Herzegovina / Bosna i Hercegovina / Босна и Херцеговина Bosnia and Herzegovina – Flood Disaster Situation Report 25th May 2014 HIGHLIGHTS/KEY PRIORITIES: o Most water levels went down and water levels of Sava river basin are decreasing slowly, at a pace of less than 1cm / hour. o Mainly rural areas around Samac, Brcko, Orasje and Bijeljina are still covered with water; response activities ongoing and no life saving activities o Doboj, Olovo, Zavidovici, Zenica, Maglaj are intensively working on disinfection, sanitation, and cleaning o Around a 3,000 landslides have been reported. More than 1,000 landslides have been reported in Tuzla Canton alone. o Total number of reported casualties still cannot be confirmed (23 and in some reports up to 33) o Estimated 40,000 people have been displaced (ref. coordinators at Entity and District levels – shared through MoS Coordination Centre and the Red Cross). Estimated number of people in collective centers is between 2,600 and 3,000 o Elektroprivreda BiH reported that the electrical power grid is still severely affected in some areas (areas of Zenica-Doboj Canton, Doboj, Samac) and is being restored. o BH MAC reports that Doboj, Maglaj, Olovo, Una-Sana Canton and Posavina regions at the basin of Bosna, Krivaja and Usora rivers have so far been identified as mine and UXOs suspected areas: . Ammo depot in Orasje affected and presents a threat. BH MAC and UNDP are updating maps on mine locations. o Border crossing in Bosanski Samac, Brcko and Raca are still closed for traffic. o Ongoing coordination with the Ministries of Security and Defense, the Ops Center, as well as entity, cantonal and local civil defense. o UN staff are safe and accounted for. I. SITUATION OVERVIEW: Most water levels went down with rivers receding to their riverbeds. Only water levels of Sava river basin are decreasing slowly, at a pace of less than 1cm / hour. Yesterday’s rainfalls caused additional flooding in Tuzla Canton (Gracanica and Srebrenik) The forecasted rainfall in the North, Northeast and in some central areas (expected precipitation 60 l/m2) is not expected to cause any flooding. Number of reported casualties still cannot be confirmed (23 and in some reports up to 33) Mainly rural areas around Samac, Brcko, Orasje and Bijeljina are still covered with water The entire Posavina region, with the highest percentage of arable land in the country, remains severely affected. Total damage to agricultural lands is yet to be confirmed. Landslides and debris present a great threat in areas hit by floods. Around a 3,000 landslides have been reported. More than 1000 landslides have been reported in Tuzla Canton alone. Doboj, Olovo, Zavidovici, Zenica, Maglaj are intensively working on disinfection, sanitation, and cleaning Zmaja od Bosne bb, Sarajevo 71000, Bosnia and Herzegovina Tel: (387-33) 293 428 / Fax: (387-33) 552 330 / www.un.ba The municipal Red Cross organizations have been reporting that a large number of displaced persons arriving from neighbouring affected municpalities have settled with family and friends. They have not been reporting to the municipal Red Cross ( with the exception of Gradacac municipaliy ). Overall, it has been estimated that 40,000 people have been displaced (ref. coordinators at Entity and District level – shared through MoS Coordination Centre and the Red Cross). The final numbers of people accomodated in temporary shelters and displaced people is yet to be confirmed, estimated number of people in collective centers is between 2,600 and 3,000. Confirmed information is as follows: o FBiH: . Tuzla Canton: Additional temporary shelters have been prepared. Total confirmed : 564 accomodated people. Zenica-Doboj Canton: 8 temporary shelers have been established accomodating total of 590 people. Sarajevo Canton: 4 temporary shelters accommodating 177 people . Posavina Canton: No information available for most, 250 people situated in the hospital. Una-Sana Canton - 1 temporary shelter in Sanski most accomodating 9 people . Herzegovina - Neretva Canton - 1 temporary shelter in Mostar municipality, Opine accomodating 9 people o REPUBLIC OF SRPSKA: . Prijedor Region: 2 temporary shelters with 13 people accomodated in one shelter, no available information for the other. Doboj Region - 2 Temporary shelters , no available information. Semberija Majevica and Posavina Regions –6 temporary shelters are accomodating an unknown number of people. Birač Region – 817 people are reported to be accomodated in two temporary shelers. The rest remain displaced. Krajina Region- 4 temporarty shelters, number of accomodated persons unknown. o BRČKO DISTRICT - 1 temporary shelter “Vaso Pelagić”, Number of accommodated and displaced persons unknown. Access to water and sanitation remain a priority. Concerns remain about water borne and vector borne diseases. No outbreaks of infectious diseases are reported The following needs were identified by health authorities: o Water supply is still hampered and water purification systems are needed, o The following serums/vaccines are needed: anti-tetanus, hepatitis A, typhus, diverse anti-venom for snake bites, anti-rabies, o Disinfection is ongoing but more supplies are needed, o Mosquito spraying has to be carried out by air and ground several times and supplies are required Zmaja od Bosne bb, Sarajevo 71000, Bosnia and Herzegovina Tel: (387-33) 293 428 / Fax: (387-33) 552 330 www.un.ba o Rodent control supplies are needed. The type of poison and the required quantity is still under discussion Elektroprivreda BiH reported that the electrical power grid was severely affected in some areas and is being restored. However, many areas (parts of Zenica-Doboj Canton, Doboj, Samac) remain without electricity and recovery may take a long time due to the absence of replacement equipment and transformers Mine Affected Areas: o Mine and UXO incidents are repeatedly being reported. There are no casualties. The mines and UXO were found in the debris in the center of Bijeljina today. o BHMAC and UNDP mine hazard assessment teams are assessing the situation, while the EU, NPA, Civil Protection and the MOD have their teams for emergency clearance. o Apart from the floods, the landslides gravely impacted the mine situation. There are dozens of landslides in the minefields and BHMAC continues developing maps with landslides and minefields. Those will be uploaded to maps on mine locations o BH MAC reports that Doboj, Maglaj, Olovo, Una-Sana Canton and Posavina regions at the basin of Bosna, Krivaja and Usora rivers have so far been identified as mine and UXOs suspected areas. o 70% of the flood-affected area is suspected to contain mines and UXOs; 800 sq/km of areas suspected to contain mines have been affected by the flood disaster: o It has been reported on Friday May 23, that the flood affected the ammo depot in Orasje. Four rows vertically (around 250 tons of ammunition) have been identified to be under water. Main roads are becoming functional but, demining, construction work and clearance of debris present a great challenge. Side roads and bridges yet to be repaired, present an obstacle in delivering humanitarian assistance to remote areas. Commercial vehicles are diverted to bypasses or redirected due to landslides and rockslides obstructing the carriageway. Border crossing in Bosanski Samac, Brcko and Raca are still closed for traffic (BIHAMC 25 May 2014). As requested by the BiH Authorities, the UN-EU-World Bank have now collectively started working on a coordinated Recovery Needs Assessment in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Methodology to be used will be the Damage and Loss Assessment (DaLA) + Human Development, and will be focused on these initially proposed sectors: Livelihood/Jobs, Transport, Energy, Housing/Local Infrastructure (Education, Health, Culture), Agriculture, and Water and Sanitation Zmaja od Bosne bb, Sarajevo 71000, Bosnia and Herzegovina Tel: (387-33) 293 428 / Fax: (387-33) 552 330 www.un.ba III. HUMANITARIAN NEEDS AND RESPONSE Latest lists of supplies and needs contain WASH related equipment and supplies, disinfection materials, debris disposal tools, pumps, dryers, supplies for disinfection of farming facilities, livestock vaccination and disease prevention. Hygiene, disinfection materials and health supplies are priority needs. Humanitarian aid is being provided by: i) voluntary contributions by Bosnian citizens and private companies; ii) humanitarian organizations; and iii) international donors; in the form of food, water treatment tablets, pumps, generators, WASH equipment and supplies, shelter related equipment, clothes, tools, etc;. IV. COORDINATION Ongoing coordination with the Ministries of Security and Defense, the Ops Center, as well as entity, cantonal and local civil defense. Four sessions of the International Community Coordination Meeting have been hosted by UN Regional Coordinator. Sessions will continue every other day until further notice. Monitoring of needs and available international assistance is ongoing. Integrated Rapid Assessment teams are being formed and will be deployed as of May 31st V.FUNDING International assistance is being provided by the following governments and organizations: Adra, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bulgaria, Catholic Relief Services, Croatia, Chech Republic, EU, EUFOR, France, FYROM, Germany, Hungary, IFAW, International Federation

Particular attention was also given to collect data and information for specific purposes concerning the development of the Danube Water Quality Model, the identification and evaluation of hot spots, the analysis of social and economic factors, the preparation of an investment portfolio and the development of financing mechanisms for the implementation of the ICPDR Action Plan. For the elaboration of the National Reviews, a team of national experts was recruited in each of the participating countries for a period of one to four months covering the following positions: Socio-economist with knowledge in population studies, Financial expert (preferably from the Ministry of Finance), Water Quality Data expert/information specialist, Water Engineering expert with knowledge in project development. Each of the experts had to organize his or her work under the supervision of the respective Country Programme Coordinator and with the guidance of a team of International Consultants. The tasks were laid out in specific Terms of Reference. At a Regional Workshop in Budapest from 27 to 29 January 1998, the national teams and the group of international consultants discussed in detail the methodological approach and the content of the National Reviews to assure coherence of results.

For each of the aforementioned periods, the text treats the organization of education, the educational paradigm of the model, status of logic as a subject in the educational system of a period, as well as the central figures dealing with the issue of logic (as researchers, lecturers, authors) and the key works written in each of the periods, outlining their main ideas. The work of a Neoplatonic philosopher Porphyry, “Introduction” (Greek: Eijsagwgh;v Latin: Isagoge; Arabic: Īsāġūğī) , can be seen, in all periods of education in Bosnia and Herze - govina, as the main text, the principal textbook, as a motivation for logical thinking. After dealing with the natural features and social importance of the Posavina region in the past, presented is the importance of this region as a unique Croatian ethnic territory during the Mid- dle Ages. With the appearance of the Ottomans and especially at the beginning of the 16th century, great ethnic changes oc- cured, primarily due to the expulsion of Croats and arrival of new ethnic groups, mostly Orthodox Vlachs and later Muslims and ethnic Serbs. With the withdrawal of the Ottomans from the Pannonian basin to the areas south of the Sava River and the Danube, the Sava becomes the dividing line creating in its border areas two socially and politically different environments: the Slavonian Military Frontier on the Slavonian side and the Otto- man military-frontier system of kapitanates on the Bosnian side. Both systems had a special influence on the change of ethnic composition in this region. With the withdrawal of the Ottomans further towards the southeast of Europe and the Austrian occu- pation of Bosnia and Herzegovina the Sava River remains the border along which, especially on the Bosnian side, further changes of ethnic structure occured. One may, without any further elaboration, say that Bosnia formed the periphery of both the Byzantine Empire, and Western Europe (first the Frankish and then the Hungarian state). Bosnia was far away from the most important communication line of the Balkans: the valleys of the rivers Morava and Vardar, Via militaris and also those of the rivers Ibar and Sitnica. In that way the costs will be reduced and working efficiency increased in the most expensive phase of forest exploitation, which is skidding of wood assortments (transportation phase). Besides that road construction would increase other operational capacities in SFEs regarding protection, regeneration and nursering of forests, as well as other common useful forest functions (tourism, recreation, hunting, collection of secondary forest products and others).

[krijelj 2, S. \ug 2 Summary The first detailed investigation of Gastropods in the basin of river Fojni~ka has been carried out in 2001 –2002. The material has been sam - pled five times during four seasons (October 2001 –September 2002) at 11 sites in the following waterways: the rivers Fojni~ka, Draga~a, @eljeznica, Kre{evka and Lepenica. Measurement of certain physical and chemical parameters (BOD 5, water temperature, pH value, amount of dissolved ox- ygen, saturation with oxygen and one time measurement of concentration of nitrates and phosphates) has been carried out together with collecting of macroinvertebrates of zoobenthos. Since the knowledge of biodiversity of Gastropods in Bosnia and Herzegovina is at the very low level, the main objective of this paper is to give an overview of distribution of Gas- tropods communities in the Fojni~ka river basin. In these investigations, 11 taxa of Gastropods and 1468 individuals have been determined. The Gastropods made 16% of total settlement of macroinvertebrates of zoobenthos. Dominant species at investigated sites was Ancylus fluviatilis , while species Acicula sp. , Saxurinator sp . and Valvata piscinalis were just sporadically recorded.

Naumili napisati djelo, gdje bi najveći trud uložio u samu poviest te liepe hrvatske zemlje, i to na temelju mnogobrojnih novijih izvora, što jih izdadoše Miklošić, Pucić, Šafafik, Theiner, Rački, Ljubić, Makušev i neki magjarski historici. Nadao sam se, da ću u ovom djelu koješta dopuniti, što bijaše nepoznato starijim piscem o Bosni, kanoti Schimeku, Engelu i Jukiću, a možda štogod i izpraviti, što su jedno­ strano shvatili neki noviji povjestnici, a napose Rus MajkoAL Ciela knjiga imala je iznositi 15 štampanih tabaka. Pišuć medjutim knjigu započeli geografijom, a ta se preko moje volje tako raztegnu, da mi napokon neostade ni vremena ni prostora za samu historiju. U toj me ne­ volji pomogne odbor „Matice Hrvatske" odredivši, da se za ovu godinu kano prvi svezak izdade samo zemljopis Bosne; a poviest Bosne da napišem nešto obsežnije za buduću godinu, te će se ovaj dio mojega rukopisa izdati kano drugi svezak djela o Bosni. Pri sastavljanju zemljopisa Bosne uzeli si za temelj slično djelce neumornoga franjevca I. Fr. Jukića, koje je doduše već pred četvrt stoljeća svj tlo ugledalo, ali ipak i danas još mnogo vriedi.

    JU “VODE SRPSKE” MONITORING KVALITETA POVRŠINSKIH VODOTOKA U REPUBLICI SRPSKOJ, ISTRAŽIVANJA ZA 2017.GODINU SKRAĆENI IZVJEŠTAJ UVOD Praćenje stanja kvaliteta voda vodotoka u Republici Srpskoj se sprovodi na određenim mjernim mjestima vodnih tijela u skladu sa izvršenom tipologijom s ciljem: procjene ekološkog i hemijskog statusa površinskih voda u skladu sa Zakonom o vodama (Službeni glasnik RS broj 50/06) i Uredbom o klasifikaciji voda i kategorizaciji vodotoka(Službeni glasnik RS broj 42/01); ispunjavanja međunarodnih obaveza BiH i Republike Srpske; dostavljanja podataka u Međunarodnu monitoring mrežu (TNMN) u okviru Međunarodne komisije za zaštitu rijeke Dunav (ICPDR-a)za mjerne profile uključene u ovu bazu podataka; praćenje stanja kvaliteta voda s ciljem zaštite i dostizanja dobrog ekološkog statusa, koji podržava ekološku funkciju datih tipova akvatičnih sistema, kao i korištenje voda za postojeće i planirane upotrebe. Tipovi monitoringa Kako bi se u što većoj mjeri, ispunili zahtjevi Okvirne direktive o vodama, monitoring mreža kvaliteta voda vodotoka Republike Srpske je revidovana u 2007. godini na osnovu kriterijumima uspostavlјenih u okviru Međunarodne komisije za zaštitu rijeke Dunav. Novi pristup, u skladu sa zahtjevima Okvirne direktive o vodama, značio je sprovođenje monitoringa: - kao nadzorni (na nivou Republike Srpske i međunarodni), - operativni - i istraživački. Potrebno je naglasiti da su svi mjerni profili uklјučeni u nadzorni monitoring, istovremeno obuhvaćeni i operativnim monitoringom, kako bi se, u što kraćem vremenskom roku, omogućilo prikuplјanje većeg broja podataka koji bi osigurali veću pouzdanost pri ocjeni statusa/potencijala za potrebe izrade narednog plana upravlјanja. Nacrtima planovima upravlјanja ORS Save i ORS Trebišnjice čije se usvajanje očekuje u 2017. godini a za period 2015-2021.
