Pre-pandemic our travel program was very successful and we had a good pulse on where our patrons wanted to visit. Now that the world has changed, and is continuing to emerge to its new normal, we need to hear from our travelers to ! nd out where they want to go (or don't want to go). Please keep in mind when o" ering suggestions, to share destinations that you would 100% sign up for if o" ered. We are not looking for places you visited 30 years ago and think others would enjoy. We want to know where our travelers want to journey to, what they would feel comfortable doing and seeing while on an adventure. We are looking for ideas for our three types of travel categories: 1. Day trips: locations where we can depart and return all in one calendar day. 2. Overnight trips: locations where travelers would spend one, or two, nights away. 3. Extended trips: These can be stateside or international and typically last 5-14 days. Please submit your trip ideas in writing to the Senior Center main desk during business hours or email to [email protected]. Although we take suggestions at any time, we would really like to have as many in by October 27 so you can help us shape our travel program for 2022 and beyond.

What do you see as "Aging Well"? National Senior Center Month is celebrated every year in September and is meant to be an opportunity to celebrate Senior Centers and the incredible work they do enriching and extending the lives of individuals over 50. Here at the Sterling Heights Senior Center, we would rather celebrate the month by having a community wide photo contest asking shutterbugs to submit photos of what they feel it looks like to "Age Well". These photos can be staged or candid, so get creative! A panel of community leaders will judge the submitted photos and the top three photographers will receive a gift certi# cate. The winners will be announced October 5. Submissions will be on display at the Senior Center from September 27 until October 22. Deadline for entries is 5 p.m. on Friday, September 24. Photos can be emailed to [email protected] or a 4x6 print can be dropped o! at the Senior Center main desk during business hours. All entries should include the photographer's name and contact phone number.
