Isola Maggiore Isola Maggiore is under the jurisdiction of Tuoro sul Trasimeno and is the only one of the three islands that has a stable population. It still preserves the unique atmosphere of a 15th century fishing village. In 1211 Saint came here at Lent to pray and fast in peace and quiet, and there is now a lovely chapel dedicated to his arrival on the island during a violent storm, marking the place where he landed and knelt down in prayer. One of the feathers in the cap of the island is the Irish-point lace made by the local women. The Isola Maggiore Museum Circuit indicates the most important places to see on the island: Museo del Merletto, Chiesa di S. Michele Arcangelo, Casa del Capitano, Chiesa di S. Salvatore.
