The first show in May 1984 occupied just one hall, while this years show will cover a mammoth 82,000 square metres in ten halls plus an additional hall for the Classic Motorcycle Show. David Jones in the Preci-Spark 22 Mercedes AMG SLS GT3 was excluded from the final round of the British GT championship at Donington Park on the 6th of October 2013. He also had 4 penalty points added to his competition license, and had 8 championship points deducted from his current points and was fined £1,000 after contact with cars on two separate occasions, the 888 Optimum Racing 888 BMW Z4 GT3 of Dan Brown and Steve Tandy and the 42 Mtech Ginetta G55 GT3 of Derek Johnston and Luke Hines. © Simon Wright A new sub 999kg World Electric Land Speed Record (Subject to FIA ratification) was made by the Drayson B12/69 Hyper EV car at Elvington airfield in Yorkshire during October. The car covered a flying mile at an average of 205.139 mph. Brainchild of former British Science Minister © Simon Wright Lord Paul Drayson. The car broke four Land Speed Records in total, beating its own previous World Record as well as the EV acceleration record by covering a quarter mile from a standing start in just 9.742 seconds. The HSCC Finals held at Silverstone saw Frank Lyons race a Fans of the mighty Group B rally cars are in for a treat at this years Classic McRae Chevrolet GM1 in the Derek Bell Trophy Race. The original McRae proved to be a very successful design with Graham McRae winning the US Formula 5000 Championship and the Tasman Championship in 1972 and the Tasman Championship again in 1973. Roy Lane achieved considerable success in the British Hill Climb Championship, taking the title in the McRae Chevrolet GM1 in both 1975 and 1976. The MonteCarlo Consortium will mark the 30th anniversary of Lancia winning the World Rally constructor's Championship with an original Group B Lancia 037 on their stand. The Sunbeam Lotus Owners club will feature a trio of cars, one of which will be an ex-works car. Finally, from an earlier period, but no less effective, the Classic Z Register are also celebrating rallying with a replica of the 1973 Safari rally winning Datsun 240Z. Andrew won the Formula Junior race at the wheel of his Lotus 22, while his father finished 7th in the Guards Trophy race, winning his class at the wheel of a Lotus 23B © Simon Wright Regular Historic competitor Rudolf Ernst from Germany raced a couple of unusual cars at the HSCC Silverstone Championship Finals race meeting at Silverstone. Above is a 1961 Formula Junior 997cc PBA Mk2 in which he finished 27th overall and won the class. Below in the HSCC Guards Trophy he drove this 1964 1100cc DRW Mk6 to 21st overall.
