Subject: Stealth Mode Posted by GASK3T on Thu, 29 Dec 2011 00:06:10 GMT View Forum Message <> Reply to Message Playing JA2 1.13 for the millionth time and I enjoy playing as stealthy as possible. I especially like it when I kill everyone undetected allowing me to skip "opponents turn". Obviously i use knives, SMGs and Machine pistols with low loudness but i was wondering if anyone had found a good assault rifle with AR suppressor and cold ammo combo thats worked well for them? I play on INSANE mode so i need some heavy ammo.

Subject: Re: Stealth Mode Posted by GASK3T on Tue, 03 Jan 2012 23:52:51 GMT View Forum Message <> Reply to Message P90 + isnt bad but its still in the teens for loudness. I have been shifting to the MP5SD version with AET ammo. Horrible range but really high damage that can kill anything with a burst and i think the loudness is like 5. Also been playing with the SCAR-H + Silencer + Cold ammo. Its in the 20's for loudness. Which means i can kill a rogue soldier from a distance without raising an alarm as long as he isnt around someone close. Same with the M21 + kit + Silencer + cold ammo.

Subject: Re: Stealth Mode Posted by MG42 on Wed, 04 Jan 2012 02:36:20 GMT View Forum Message <> Reply to Message UMP45 is a solid silenced SMG, powerful but controllable. VSS Vintorez is a good designated marksman rifle with 11 loudness, and it can burst/auto. Five-seveN is a wonderfully easy to use pistol with good accuracy, large mag, armor-piercing power and easy handling, can be silenced.

Some of these may be AIMNAS: the KRISS, wonderful little machine pistol; HK MP7A1 and PDW; M16SAM-R with small AR suppressor and cold loaded ammo (16 loudness, but 45 range, good power, and burst/auto handling that far outmatches the 9x39mm Russians).

Ahh, that'd be the VSSK Vychlop, aka one of my favorite weapons ever for night raids. Get your DM (especially if you're playing STOMP with the Sniper and Night Ops traits) with that, and you'll end up mowing guards down like nothing. Might be best to have your DM carry two SAW pouches' worth of ammo, though.

Subject: Re: Stealth Mode Posted by Sam Hotte on Wed, 04 Jan 2012 22:26:39 GMT View Forum Message <> Reply to Message Regarding stealth: the Utility as it allows you to open locked doors without noise.

Regarding weight and damage per AP it's the SOG Seal; followed by KCB (that offers wire cutting as addition). So I'd vote for KCB in total. (that is without consideration of knifing trait)

Regarding the silent AR topic: There are Kits to convert M4 into integrally suppressed AR57 (but judging by its stats it's not really superior to P90). But AFAIK most silent of all ARs (stock 1.13)without integrated silencer is the AN-94 ABAKAN - and subsonic ammo is available for it.

Subject: Re: Stealth Mode Posted by GASK3T on Wed, 04 Jan 2012 22:26:47 GMT View Forum Message <> Reply to Message yea but some have slightly higher damage, or faster AP and weigh more. I typically stick with the Seal knife but i was interested if anyone had other thoughts.

Subject: Re: Stealth Mode Posted by GASK3T on Wed, 04 Jan 2012 22:30:20 GMT View Forum Message <> Reply to Message also, not sure if i should start a new thread, but even though they are useless, i do like adding at least one machine gun to the mix. But the annoying thing is - is that most of the MG's dont have single shot option which means you cannot aim before shooting. Im at work and forget the exact model, but there is a RPK with a 75 round clip that i feed with 20 shot 7.62 long ammo that is pretty legit after adding the PSO-3 scope. Anyone got any thoughts on that too?

Page 3 of 8 ---- Generated from The Bears Pit Also, unless you are among the unfortunate people without mousewheel: you can aim auto fire. And if you want to keep in line with the stealth thing, the MG36 accepts AR suppressors if I remember correctly.

Subject: Re: Stealth Mode Posted by GASK3T on Wed, 04 Jan 2012 23:21:33 GMT View Forum Message <> Reply to Message yea but if i remember correctly, the mg36 has 5.56 ammo which is so too weak when you are playing in insane mode. When i use MG's i am not to worried about loudness level anymore

I stand corrected, i had to look it up, its the RPK 74 (according to the list on 1.13's website). It holds 5.45x39 ammo (seems to do more damage than the 5.56 ammo for whatever reason...). Pretty solid MG though based on the accessories you can add. You cannot buy the "match" (white) ammo in a 75 shot drum but you can take the match ammo in 30 shot clip and add it to the MG manually. Its nice cause it adds another +10 to range.

And i had no idea about the mouse scrolling option.....cant wait to get out of work to try it!

Subject: Re: Stealth Mode Posted by DepressivesBrot on Wed, 04 Jan 2012 23:31:32 GMT View Forum Message <> Reply to Message There's no match ammo in 5.45 ... neither does the RPK-74 take 75rd drums, only 45rd box mags.

If you want raw firepower, 7.62x51 is the way to go, either MG3/FN MAG for rate of fire or HK21 for having all three fire modes and being able to mount up to a 7x scope.

Subject: Re: Stealth Mode Posted by MG42 on Thu, 05 Jan 2012 13:42:21 GMT View Forum Message <> Reply to Message Seconding the FN MAG, I gave that to Ice in my game and made him my designated MGer. And with heavy bipod, he can fire it standing up with no burst or auto penalty! (Heavy bipod absorbs more recoil due to weight? may be a bug though).

Page 4 of 8 ---- Generated from The Bears Pit HK21 is also very good, especially with the HK Old Aimpoint laser sight which is fully effective out to 35 distance, 5 more than any other laser system (again though that may be AIMNAS only, dunno).

It is a bit annoying how Expert/Insane mode makes 7.62x51 and up ammo a necessity, though. Lots of cool, very controllable and silence-able 5.56/5.45 weapons out there that you have to pass over

Subject: Re: Stealth Mode Posted by Sam Hotte on Thu, 05 Jan 2012 15:25:00 GMT View Forum Message <> Reply to Message Without AIMNAS and with NCTH, there is no heavy bipod but there is a penalty on firing MGs (esp. with bipod mounted) non prone.

In stock 1.13 i prefer the HK21: with tracer and 7x scope its 3 rd burst is a sure killer even across long distance in the hands of a machine gunner.

Subject: Re: Stealth Mode Posted by GASK3T on Thu, 05 Jan 2012 15:48:30 GMT View Forum Message <> Reply to Message yea it was the RPK i was using and i also toyed around with the FN MAG last night. not bad - especially with the x7 scope and match ammo. And i do really enjoy creating a IMP merc (or editing an AIM merc) to have "Machinegunner" skill status + aggressive trait (increases accuracty with burst/auto weapons). They practically become auto snipers

I truely love this game, i can play it over and over again with different styles. First i started with pure stealth, now im switching over to MGs, i think the next obvious step is to make a demo/bombadier team

Subject: Re: Stealth Mode Posted by MG42 on Thu, 05 Jan 2012 15:51:00 GMT View Forum Message <> Reply to Message Ah I see. AIMNAS actually has heavy burst/auto penalties for non prone, bipod equipped MGs most of the time, must be a bug.

How important is that 7x scope vs. a 4x? The distances start to get fuzzy for me when, say, comparing +12 daytime vision to a gun with a range of 60. Not sure how to convert. I do know that 4x scopes can see much farther (on a clear day) than most 5.56/5.45 guns can shoot (aiming reticle will be flashing), so I figured they would be adequate to use on 7.62x51 machine guns (same with the PSO-1 for the PKM etc).

@MG42: with OCTH (AIMNAS) the 7x scopes adds to damage and CTH (and IIRC allows more aiming clicks when dynamic aiming is enabled) compared to 4x.

Subject: Re: Stealth Mode Posted by GASK3T on Thu, 05 Jan 2012 16:02:59 GMT View Forum Message <> Reply to Message well i was wondering about the scopes myself....for assault rifles, i dabbled with 2x, 4x, and 7x. It all depends on your style of play. I found that the 7x is best with burst assault rifles - but i also had mercs juiced up with machinegunner + aggressive. I'ved been using the SCAR H w/ SV barrel + Match ammo and have been bursting in peoples heads from a decent distance. 2x for my silenced submachine guns.

Haha i will def need to add pyscho next time. Dynamo always cracks me up when he loses it

Subject: Re: Stealth Mode Posted by GASK3T on Thu, 05 Jan 2012 16:20:10 GMT View Forum Message <> Reply to Message yea i stick with the MP5SD without the 100 clip (the 100 shot adapter clip causes the gun to break way faster and reduces chance to hit i believe) because its dead quiet and in insane mode, the AET ammo kills anyone with one burst.

More importantly! i need some suggestions for traits and weapons to make a bombadier merc any suggestions? I plan on rigging San Mona with explosives and then going gernade happy on that sin city

Thanks, I keep forgetting that people use both OCTH and NCTH so my questions wouldn't necessarily make sense.

I'm paranoid about people sneaking up on me so I generally try to use scopes with less tunnel vision if possible, hence choosing 4x rather than 7x when I can.

Subject: Re: Stealth Mode Posted by Sam Hotte on Thu, 05 Jan 2012 17:16:39 GMT View Forum Message <> Reply to Message Traits for a bombardier are very obvious: bombardier and demolitions. If you allow more traits, add whatever adds to your style of playing: night ops for, well, night ops; mechanics aid in preparing bombs, athletics for better movement or bodybuilding for carrying those heavy weapons. Even HtH might be handy as it reduces AP cost for changing stance and direction of fire.

Very handy. The Kastet standalone launcher (comparable to the single-shot 40mm US/NATO launchers, can't remember their names) and the underbarrel launchers for Soviet/WP weapons can fire it. Also the revolver-type Russian grenade launcher, I think.
