Kim Mitchell Thetford Communiqué de presse Pour diffusion immédiate Une « légende » sur la grande scène Loto-Québec : Kim Mitchell Thetford Mines, le 24 mai 2011 - C’est maintenant confirmé, pour une très rare prestation au Québec, c’est la légende de la musique rock canadienne Kim Mitchell, qui clôturera les activités de la 18ième édition du Festival Promutuel de la relève de Thetford Mines le 20 août prochain. Le festival sera présenté à nouveau cette année au Centre-ville de Thetford Mines, les 18, 19 et 20 août prochain. Go For Soda, Rock N Roll Duty, Patio Lanterns, I am a Wild Party, Easy To Tame et All We Are sont au compte des nombreux succès avec la formation Max Webster, qui ont valu à Kim Mitchell une grande réputation et plus d'un million d'albums vendus. L'auteur-compositeur est également récipiendaire de deux prix Juno « Album de l’année » et « Interprète masculin de l’année ». L’artiste invité se produira donc le samedi 20 août prochain sur la Grande scène Loto-Québec du festival. Rappelons que ce spectacle sera gratuit au même titre que l’ensemble des activités. À propos de Kim Mitchell : Guitariste, auteur-compositeur-interprète, il a grandi à Sarnia et s'installe à Toronto à l'âge de 17 ans, où il joue de la guitare dans des groupes se produisant dans des bars. Kim Mitchell est un guitariste rock inventif ainsi qu'un auteur-compositeur pop de grand talent. Membre fondateur du groupe hard-rock « Max Webster » l'un des groupes rock les plus populaires et les plus originaux du Canada à la fin des années 1970, Kim produit des tournées avec Rush aux États- Unis, en Grande-Bretagne et en Europe. Optant pour une carrière de soliste en 1982, après avoir travaillé comme guitariste de séance et producteur, Mitchell fonde un groupe dont le membre le plus en vue est Peter Fredette (guitare, guitare basse, claviers, batterie), jusqu'en 1990. Il conserve Pye Dubois comme parolier, et leurs chansons continuent à décrire avec justesse les préoccupations et distractions de l'adolescent canadien. Les 45t. « Go for a Soda » et « All We Are » (1984), « Patio Lanterns » et « Alana Loves Me » (1986) et « Easy to Tame » (1987) sont populaires. La chanson autobiographique « Rock 'n' Roll Duty » remporta un grand succès canadien en 1989, suivie la même année de « Rocklandwonderland ». Sa carrière d'interprète a peu débordé les frontières du Canada où il a surtout été populaire comme vedette de concerts d'été. Mitchell a annoncé sa retraite de l'enregistrement en 2001. Pendant une période, il a écrit des refrains publicitaires. En août 2004, il a commencé à être en ondes sur une station radiophonique rock de Toronto, Q107 (CILQ-FM).
