SUZUKI ENVIRONMENTAL & SOCIAL REPORT 2014 ntroduction Secial Article SR oncet Eorts y usiness nits etc Eorts y verseas Eorts for Environment Eorts for Society in aan usiness nits etc Environmental Data ntroduction The Group has carried out its operations on the basis of manufacturing of "value-packed products" to satisfy customers since its establishment with the motto "Develop products of superior value by focusing on the customer" in the first paragraph of its mission statement. The Group will strive for manufacturing of really valuable products appreciated by customers, constantly paying attention to the movement of times. The Group commits itself to make efforts to promote the “production of small and subcompact vehicles” and the “development of environmentally benign products” needed by customers, and “to be small, less, light, short and beautiful” on every side of organization, facilities, parts, environment and so on as well as production, with the slogan, "Small Cars for a Big Future", and has been working for the effi cient, well-knit and healthy management. Concerning the environmental issues, the Group has been off ering mini vehicles in Japan and many types of compact vehicles that are highly fuel-effi cient in places like India and other Asian countries. The Group believes that a spread of such compact vehicles would be one of the best ways to contribute to solving the environmental issues. In addition to enhancement of next generation environmental technology in “Suzuki Green Technology”, the Group will continue to tackle global environmental problem based on “Suzuki Environmental Plan 2015” and “Suzuki Biodiversity Protection Guideline” The Group will make eff ort to strengthen its ability of research and development such as environment technology, fuel effi cient technology, weight reduction technology, safety technology, information and communications technology and product designing ability. Also, the Group will make eff ort to manufacture cars with lower cost by improving effi ciency of development by integrating engine, powertrain and platform, and cost reduction. Suzuki aims to become a company loved and trusted throughout the world and will continue working on contributions to the environment and the society. We ask for your continued support. In this report, our CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) activities carried out in FY2013 are divided into three categories: “Eff orts for Environment”, “Eff orts for Society”, and “Eff orts by Plants and Companies”.     12 November, 2014 Suzuki Hustler minicar wins 2015 RJC Car of the Year award Suzuki Motor Corporation’s Hustler* minicar has won 2015 RJC Car of the Year award, promoted by the Automotive Researchers’ and Journalists’ Conference of Japan (RJC). *Hustler is sold only in Japan. Hustler is the fifth RJC Car of the Year winner for Suzuki (following the WagonR in 1993, the WagonR and WagonR Stingray in 2008, and the Swift in 2005 and 2010). RJC said, “Hustler has pioneered a new genre as a lighthearted mini SUV. It not only pays attention to driving performances, but also to colors including body colors. Furthermore, it realizes enough comfort for city driving. In a broad sense, it is a car that gives dreams to its users. It can be enjoyed with the family, alone, or with a partner. The deep insight and freshness of the car were highly valued.” Ever since its launch in January 2014, the Hustler has been popular among a wide variety of customers including male and female customers in the 20’s. The accumulated registration unit by the end of October is 86,918 units. Also, as an RJC Special Achievement Award, Nippon (Japanese) Minicar (recipient: Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association, Inc. Mini-Vehicle Committee) was chosen. The reason for its receipt is as follows: “Brilliant evolution that the minicar has achieved up to this date, and the role it plays in the Japanese motorization were valued, regardless of individual brands and models.” Overview of the 2015 RJC Car of the Year award The 24th RJC Car of the Year award was selected from domestic models that were launched in the period from 1 November 2013 to 31 October 2014 by RJC members.

    Honda In India Honda Siel Cars India Ltd., (HSCI) was incorporated in December 1995 as a joint venture between Honda Motor Co. Ltd., Japan and Siel Limited, a Siddharth Shriram Group company, with a commitment to providing Honda¶s latest passenger car models and technologies, to the Indian customers. The total investment made by the company in India till date is Rs 1620 crores in Greater Noida plant and Rs 784 crores in Tapukara plant. HSCI¶s first state-of-the-art manufacturing unit was set up at Greater Noida, U.P in 1997. The green-field project is spread across 150 acres of land (over 6,00,000 sq. m.). The annual capacity of this facility is 100,000 units. The company¶s second manufacturing facility is in Tapukara, Rajasthan. This facility is spread over 600 acres and will have an initial production capacity of 60,000 units per annum, with an investment of about Rs 1,000 crore. The first phase of this facility was inaugurated in September 2008. The company¶s product range includes Honda Jazz, Honda City, Honda Civic and Honda Accord which are produced at the Greater Noida facility with an indigenization level of 77%, 76%, 74% and 28% respectively. The CR-V is imported from Japan as Completely Built Units. Honda¶s models are strongly associated with advanced design and technology, apart from its established qualities of durability, reliability and fuel-efficiency. Honda Jazz Honda Jazz is the company¶s first offering in the premium compact car segment. The Jazz is a segment-defining car that has won accolades and adoration all over the world.
