Dear Hall of Fame Inductees:

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you into the Hauppauge Athletic Hall of Fame. Today’s induction is symbolic of the many years of hard work and dedication to the athletic programs at Hauppauge. Your ability to repre- sent the Hauppauge Athletic Department and the Hauppauge community with pride and class sets you apart from everyone else.

Your induction comes with great responsibility, as you will forever be a role model for the future student/athletes at Hauppauge. I am confident you will enjoy this weekend full of remembrance and reflection of the times you had as a high school athlete. This honor is one not to be taken lightly; it is sig- nificant and you should all be proud.

One of the many goals of this Hall of Fame is to build community sup- port and camaraderie, so please feel free to come back to any athletic event and bring your friends and relatives. It is important for you to remember where you started and we will continue to work hard at never forgetting you!

You can call me anytime to discuss future events or other opportunities in which you may want to get involved. The Hall of Fame weekend will al- ways be centered around Homecoming and your attendance will always be welcomed and appreciated. Remember “Once an Eagle always an Eagle.” Please spread the word to other alumni around the country and let them know we will always welcome them back home. Please keep in touch and enjoy your special day!

Best wishes, Joseph C. Tasman Joseph C. Tasman Athletic Director

Dear Honorees:

It is a privilege to share in the honor that you will be receiving today, as you are inducted into the Hauppauge School District's Athletic Hall of Fame. This recognition is significant as you have been selected from among the myriad of athletes and coaches who have participated throughout the years in our district's athletic program.

It is often said that participation in athletics helps to build a strong body and a sound mind. While this is true, it is perhaps even more significant that participation in athletics helps to build character. As a member of a team, each of you learned many lessons - to respect your teammates, to be unselfish during competition and to put forth 100% effort for the sake of the team. These lessons stay with you throughout life. Hopefully, you will share them with young people who are a part of your life through the sharing of memorable moments on the athletic field, the thrill of winning a championship, the time you made a great assist or the time you supported a fellow athlete in defeat. In doing so, our children will learn from you an important life lesson ... that our personal character is our most precious possession.

So, as we honor you today, let me also say thank you for serving as a role model to the Hauppauge community through your past athletic endeavors as a coach or an athlete. Your accomplishments will be remembered; more importantly the manner in which you achieved your goals will serve as an example for the future athletes of our district.

Best wishes,
