Stepping Out In Stockton Health Walks May - June 2017

Away Days Coaches leaves Ragworth Neighbourhood Centre at 9.30am and arrive back at approx. 3.30pm. After each walk participants will have approx 2- 2 1/2 hours free time to explore Bishop Auckland and York. Members £5 and non-members £8 for each walk. Bishop Auckland Friday 19 May 2017 A 3.1 circular walk from the centre of Bishop Auckland passing through the grounds of Auckland Castle( historical home of the Bishops of Durham), field paths and a disused railway line to return to the town centre. Bookings for this walk will be taken from Tuesday 2nd May 2017 for The Friends of Stockton Health Walks members and Thursday 4th May 2017 for non-members. York Friday 16 June 2017 A 2.5 mile linear flat walk from Rawcliffe Bar on good paths across Rawcliffe, Clifton Ings and the banks of the River Ouse, concluding at Lendal Bridge near the city centre. Health and Wellbeing Big plans for the health of our people Weekly Walks Please note: ** ALL Billingham walks are unsuitable for wheelchairs or buggies. Stout footwear is advisable. All these walks are approx 90 mins duration. Mondays 10.30am 8 and 22 May and then weekly from 5 June (please note there will be no walk on 1, 15 or 29 May). Meeting point: Entrance to Billingham Forum.

On the third Monday of each month car share to different locations. Monday 20 March Car share Thorpe Thewles Meeting point: 10am Entrance to Billingham Forum or 10.25am Thorpe Thewles car park.

Tuesdays 10am 2 May and then weekly. Meeting point: Ingleby Barwick Community Hall, Haresfield Way. Mainly on good paths but some walks unsuitable for buggies and wheelchairs. These walks are mainly on good paths and suitable for buggies and wheel chairs and are approx. 60 mins duration. Norton Wednesdays 1.30am 3 May and then weekly. Meeting point: Outside Norton Medical Centrek. These walks are approx 60 mins duration. Newtown Resource Centre, Durham Road Thursdays 10am 4 May and then weekly. Meeting point: Reception area. These walks are approx 60 mins duration. Ragworth Neighbourhood Centre, St John’s Way Fridays 10am 5 May and then weekly except for 19 May and 16 June. Meeting point: Reception area. Norton Library Tuesday 1pm - 2 May 2017 and then fortnightly. Unfortunately these walks are not suitable for wheelchairs or buggies. Stout footwear advisable. 1½ to 2 hours. Meeting Point: Norton Library

Stillington

Friday 10am - 5 May 2017 and then fortnightly. 1 to 1.5 hours. Unfortunately these walks are not suitable for wheelchairs or buggies. Meeting point: Stillington Community Centre.

Other Walks To mark the start of Dementia Awareness Week , Cleve ARC will be holding a free 1,5 mile circular walk beside the from Tees barrage Cafe starting at 10.30 am on Sunday 14th May 2017. The walk is open to everyone including dementia suffers and their carers. A number of marshals will be accompanying the walkers, but it will not be possible to provide one to one support to individuals. more information can be obtained from Cleve ARC on 01642611110 Other Walks We recommend these walks but please note that they are not official walks organised by ‘The Friends of Stockton Health’ and are not covered by the usual Sustrans insurance

Circular walk round Great Ayton Meeting point: The car park at the top up and through Cliff Ridge Wood, end of the Reservoir, on the right. returning via little Ayton. Meeting point: Captain Cook Museum Monday 10am - 15 May 2017. in Great Ayton. A circular walk round Guisborough returning to Huttin Station along the Monday 10 am - 26 June 2017. dis-used railway line. Repeat of the circular walk round Meeting point: Parking at the Voyager Seaton Carew past the Golf Course, pub on the Avenue. back to the North Gare and then along the beach. Monday 10am - 29 May 2017. Meeting point: The beach car park Repeat of the circular walk round behind the Almighty Cod in the Valley Gardens and Saltburn Woods, centre of Seaton. and Promenade. Meeting point: Either at the Stray All these walks are unsuitable for Cafe ( with parking) Redcar, with bus buggies and wheelchairs passes or at Saltburn Station.

You only need to commit to what is convenient for you whether you would like to lead a walk every week or simply provide cover when needed.
