CURRICULUM SUPPORT Did you know that each school in the Peterhouse Group has a MISSION WEEK Curriculum Support Department which is well resourced and staffed by qualified/experienced teachers who deliver individual and group support to pupils with a variety of learning needs? We offer support to pupils who have a learning difficulty (dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD)) which has been formally diagnosed by an Educational Psychologist. We also support pupils who have not been formally diagnosed with a OUTSTANDING RESULTS learning difficulty but can benefit from support for their learning needs (e.g. helping with literacy, numeracy, study, revision skills, organisation or subject specific support). At both Springvale House and Peterhouse all new pupils are either ‘monitored’ or ‘screened’ for curriculum support needs during their first term and, if necessary, parents are advised to refer their children to an Educational Psychologist for formal assessment. WATERPOLO D BLOCK BASE CAMP (INIFINITY PROGRAMME) D Block pupils took to Calderwood Park for the D Block Basecamp Teambuilding Programme from 17 to 19 Jan (PHG) and 20 to 23 Jan (PHB). The weather played its part, again – but unlike last year’s floods, the pupils had very hot and dry conditions. The pupils all managed the 25km plus hike (which was particularly arduous in the draining heat), participated in raft building and other team building activities, learned and experienced basic canoeing skills, braved the abseil and practiced target shooting. They coped D BLOCK incredibly well and were very supportive of each other. It was evident in the feedback session that they learnt a lot about challenging situations and about each other.
