Anotace Diplomová práce „Osobní přínos George Bensona v oblasti jazzu“ se zaměřuje v první části na vokální techniky a projev George Bensona. Pojednává stručně o živote a uměleckém působení George Bensona. V druhé části se zabývá podrobní analýzou instrumentálního projevu a technik hry George Bensona. Detailně se zabývá analýzou dvou transrikpcí sól skladby Ready And Able z alba Cookbook(1966) a skladby Breezin s alba Breezin(1976). Annotation Diploma thesis „Benson´s personal contribution to jazz“ focuses on vocal techniques and George Benso n's expression. Dealth with George Benson's life and artistic work. The second part deals with a detailed analysis of instrumental expression and techniques of George Benson's play. It deals in detail with the analysis of two solo transcriptions Ready And Able with albums Cookbook (1966) and Breezin with Breezin (1976). Počátky mého hudební ho s měřo vá n í zač a ly st udiem na ZUŠ, které podpořilo mů j z á je m pokračovat a ro zvíjet se dále jako hude bn ík. Směrodatným byl pro mne mů j otec, který mě podporoval a díky němu jsem vyst udo va l klasickou hudbu na konzervatoři. V ed l mě k po z ná ní ja zzo vé hudby a postupně ve mně vz nik la vnit řní t o uha o ddat se t o mut o hu de bn ímu ž á nru. Největší vliv na mě mě la hu d ba G eo rge Bensona a vš ec hn y aspekty, které souvisejí s jeho jedinečným umě leckým projeve m. Prot o jsem se rozhodl v t ét o pr áci uvést a představit v á m osobnost a život žijící, ja zzo vé, k yt aro vé legendy Geo rg e Be nso na. Úvodní kapitolou v ás provedu v krátkosti jeho ž ivotem a vůbec začát k y jeho uměleckého působení. V první č ásti budu dále navazovat na vokální projev George Bensona a z jist íme, kde br a l ins p ir ac i. Tak é si objasníme jakým způsobem a v ja k ýc h po lo hách svůj hlas dovede používat. V druhé části se zaměřím na osobitý instrumentální projev Geo rge B e nso na. Budu se věnovat podrobné analýze je ho hr y Geo rge Bensona, kde popíšu art iku la c i, frá zo vá n í a způsoby hry ve spojení se zpě ve m. Osobnost a život Georga Bensona V krát ko st nyní přiblížím ž ivo t s vět o zn ámého multitalentovaného u mě lc e - kytaristu a zpě váka Georga Bensona, který je na scéně už padesát let. Bě he m své kariéry prodal George Benson miliony nahrávek, kt eré před stavil stovkám miliónů fanoušků a natočil celou řadu nejoblíbenějších ja zzových a sou lových skladeb, ja ko např. „T his Ma squ erade“, „On Broadway“, Turn Your Love Around“, a „Give Me the Night“. Geo rge Be n son se narodil 22. bř ez na 1 943 ve městě Pittsburgh ve st át ě Pens ylvá nie . U prvopočátku jeho hudebního talentu st á la jeho matka Erma Be nso n, která mu jako malému klukovi z pívala fragmenty me lo d ií. Pro Geo rge Bensona to by l imp u lz k pro buzení zájmu o hu d bu. B e nso nů v o t ec hrál na bicí, trombon a piano. V sed mi letech začal G eo rge hrát na ukulele a v o s mi na k yt aru. V út lém dětství se Benson zabýval hlavně zpěvem a během za mě st ná ní, kdy pracoval jako pro davač no vin , s i př iv yd ě lá va l v místních podnicích z pě ve m. V úplných začátcích poslouchal nahrávky 1Charlieho Chr ist ia n a se sextetem Bennyho Goodmana. Později se set ka l s kytarovými velikány jako je Wes Montgomery (1932 – 19 68) , Kenny Burrel l (*1931), Grant Green(19 35- 19 79 ) a Tal Farlow (1921 – 1998). Pro Be nsona to byla velmi inspirativní, motivující a formující set ká ni. V devatenácti hrál svůj první koncert s J ack e m M cD u ffe m(192 6 – 2001) v New Yorku. Be nso no vo první album, k de vystupoval na po z ic i lídr a, na hr á l ve spolupráci s J ack e m M cDu ffe m v ro ce 196 4. 1 Charlie Christian byl americkým jazzovým a swingovým kytaristou. Narodil se 29. července 1916 a zemřel 2. březne 1942. Byl prvním bebopovým kytaristou v historii jazzu . Účinkoval například v orchestru Bennyho Goodmana, ale také s Teloniem |Monkem. V čele produkc e stál John Hammond, který praco va l pro společnost Columbia v letech 1965 až 1966. George Benson nebyl nikdy jazzovým puritánem a je ho lá sk a k R&B, rocku, popu a soulu se př etavila ve spolupráci s producentem Creedem Taylo re m ve vydavatelství CTI, v letech 1971 a ž 1975. O rok později, prostřednictví m platinového alba Breezin , vstupuje do světa jako superstar R&B a popu. Album se dostalo na pr vní míst a že bř íčku popu a obsahovalo hit oceněný Grammy Award, „This Masque rad e “, nahraný Leonem Russe lle m. Koncem sedmdesátých a osmdesátých let pokračoval v duc h u R&B a nahrál skladby „The Greatest Love Of All“, „On Broadway“, „Give Me The Night“, „Turn Your Love Around“ a da lš í. V roce 1990 vzdává hold Count u Ba s ie mu (1904 - 1984), kd e s e navrací ke klasickým standardů m a akusticky orientovanému jazzu a nahrává „ Big Boss Band“. V de vadesátých letech 20. s toletí Benson začal spolupracovat s Tommym LiP u mo u - který produkoval Bensonovy na hrá vk y u Warner Bros. Společně nabízeli mo d e rní vize současného jazzu na albu That´s R ig ht z ro ku 1996. Spolupracovali také v roce 1998 na Standing Together, které p ř ines lo pr vk y hip ho pu a karibské rytmy. Během své kariéry George Benson p ro po jo va l vš e o d st ra ig ht a he ad ja zz u, so uč as né ho ja zzu až po R &B, a přes to všechno ukázal, že tvořivost a komerční úspěch se vzájemně nevylučují. 8 2. Osobitý vokální projev Georga Bensona 2.1 Vokální spektrum George Benson je klíčovou součá st í ja z zo vé ho žá nru a inspirativní osobností pro další vývoj a směř o vá n í so uča s né ho ja zz u. Stalo se tak na zá k lad ě je ho profesionální hudební kar iéry, jeho chariz matu, smyslu pro humor, showmanství a c e lé řad y multižánrových hitů . Získal titul světového průkopníka . Jeho triumfální m úspěchem bylo př e kro če ní hra nic tradičního ja zz u a úspěšný průnik na popový trh . V jeho vokálním projevu mů že me po st řehnout estetické c ít ě ní, e mo c e, lehkost, eleganci, nadhled, int elekt, jemnost a profesionalitu . Spe kt ru m je ho vokálního projevu je předmětem otevření mnoha tváří .     GEORGE BENSON BIOGRAPHY From hard bop guitarist to R&B/pop superstar, George Benson has worn a wide variety of hats over the years. R&B lovers know him as the guitar-playing vocalist who is responsible for such hits as "Give Me The Night" and "Turn Your Love Around", while the jazz world continues to treasue his classic instrumental albums of the 1960s and early 1970s. And it goes without saying that Benson's million-selling Breezin' album of 1976 practically defined the NAC, quiet storm, and contemporary jazz radio formats. Because the guitarist/singer is so diverse and unpredictable, one never knows what he will do from one album to the next - and on his latest GRP release, Absolute Benson, the eight- time GRAMMY®-winner surprises us once again by emphasizing instrumental music. While Benson's last album, 1998's Standing Together, was full of R&B/pop singing, only three of Absolute Benson's nine songs find him providing vocals: his rendition of Ray Charles's "Come Back Baby", an infectious remake of the late Donny Hathaway's soul classic "The Ghetto", and Benson's Latin-flavored "El Barrio" (a companion piece to "The Ghetto"). Everything else on the album is instrumental, and this time, Benson's distrinctive guitar playing takes center stage. Though Benson is still quite capable of playing straight-ahead hard bop, Absolute Benson isn't a bop album.     Rock Album Discography Last up-date: September 27th, 2021 Rock Album Discography “Music was my first love, and it will be my last” was the first line of the virteous song “Music” on the album “Rebel”, which was produced by Alan Parson, sung by John Miles, and released I n 1976. From my point of view, there is no other citation, which more properly expresses the emotional impact of music to human beings. People come and go, but music remains forever, since acoustic waves are not bound to matter like monuments, paintings, or sculptures. In contrast, music as sound in general is transmitted by matter vibrations and can be reproduced independent of space and time. In this way, music is able to connect humans from the earliest high cultures to people of our present societies all over the world. Music is indeed a universal language and likely not restricted to our planetary society. The importance of music to the human society is also underlined by the Voyager mission: Both Voyager spacecrafts, which were launched at August 20th and September 05th, 1977, are bound for the stars, now, after their visits to the outer planets of our solar system (mission status: https://voyager.jpl.nasa.gov/mission/status/). They carry a gold- plated copper phonograph record, which comprises 90 minutes of music selected from all cultures next to sounds, spoken messages, and images from our planet Earth. There is rather little hope that any extraterrestrial form of life will ever come along the Voyager spacecrafts. But if this is yet going to happen they are likely able to understand the sound of music from these records at least.
