Yamaha All Wood Electric Violins Bring Players Inspired Design, Sound and Smooth Transition from Acoustic Violin

ANAHEIM (January 21, 2016) — Yamaha today introduced four new electric violin models, expanding the current Yamaha Silent/Electric Violin lineup. Available in four- or five-string models and priced at a comfortable entry point for any player, the all-wood YEV series provides outstanding sound and electric performance benefits while maintaining its appeal to traditional performers. The graceful design is based on established violin elements, with additional style cues from Yamaha acoustic guitar luthiers. All-wood construction adds a natural character that reflects the instrument’s heritage and these models are anticipated to appeal to acoustic players. The new Yamaha Electric Violins (YEV) are nearly identical in weight to an acoustic violin, providing a comfortable transition for the acoustic player. In addition, the established violin player can use his or her existing shoulder rest and favorite bow with the YEV Series. The solid center body is crafted from maple, mahogany, and spruce, while the instrument frame is constructed of a rich, resonant walnut. The maple neck is capped with a solid ebony fingerboard and ebony tuning pegs. Both models are available with a natural wood body, or in a modern transparent black finish. On the electric side, the YEV series borrow the same integrated bridge and pickup design found on the higher-end Yamaha Silent Violin Pro series. This unique system faithfully captures the sound of the entire instrument — the strings and the body, plus the player’s bowing and articulation – while minimizing feedback. Controls are simple, with just a single volume and volume bypass knob. Located on the back of the body, the volume knob can be adjusted quickly with the left hand. The 1/4" output is also discreetly located on the back of the instrument, allowing the cable to be positioned out of the way, or allow for convenient connection to a wireless transmitter pack. “When it comes to the electric violin, there will always be players who are early technology adopters,” said Ken Dattmore, marketing manager, strings, Yamaha Corporation of America, “Until now, there hasn’t been an instrument that could provide a seamless transition for the multitudes of country, folk, and bluegrass fiddle players — or the legions of rock, jazz and classical violinists — ready to make the move to an electric instrument. The Yamaha Electric Violin provides an easy pathway.”

Yamaha DGX-660 Portable Grand Adds Mic Input and Wireless Connectivity to Top Selling Digital Piano

ANAHEIM (January 21, 2016) — Yamaha has updated its digital piano lineup with the introduction of the new DGX-660, which now includes a customizable Piano Room feature and a microphone input with digital vocal effects. Ideal for piano students and casual players of all ages, this new Portable Grand ensemble instrument replaces the DGX-650, which has earned the position as one of the top selling digital pianos in the U.S. The 1/4" microphone input on the DGX-660 lets players sing along while playing the piano and record the entire performance to USB audio, complete with inspiring digital vocal effects like reverb and chorus. An optional wireless UD-WL01 accessory allows streaming of audio and MIDI over Wi-Fi between an iOS device and the DGX- 660, providing connectivity to the world of Yamaha music apps for iPad, such as NoteStar and Chord Tracker. Perhaps the most compelling learning experience offered by the DGX-660 is the “You Are the Artist” collection of best-selling Hal Leonard piano songbooks and play- along recordings that can be enjoyed in conjunction with the instrument. Score Display puts the music notation of MIDI songs onto the instrument’s screen, helping the user play their favorites by following the bouncing ball while XG song files play all of the backing band parts. Songs can be slowed down to allow players to practice at a comfortable tempo before speeding up when they are ready. Players can even practice one hand while the DGX-660 plays the other. “You Are the Artist” series sheet music and XG song files can be purchased at yamahamusicsoft.com/xg or any authorized Hal Leonard music retailer. “What sets the DGX-660 apart from other instruments in the entry-level ensemble digital piano category is its ability to help users learn to play and sing their favorite songs in a fun, entertaining and interactive way,” said Dane Madsen, marketing manager, digital pianos, Yamaha Corporation of America. “The secret to getting players engaged is allowing them to play their parts while adding inspiring accompaniment, all to hit songs they already know and love.” Other features on the new DGX-660 include: • An assignable foot pedal and category leading touch and tone with PureCF sampling, which integrates the authentic sounds from the critically acclaimed 9' Yamaha CFIIIS acoustic grand piano into this powerful yet compact digital piano. • The company’s Graded Hammer Standard action provides the natural touch response of an acoustic piano — the lower keys are heavier and the higher keys become gradually lighter through the different registers. Extra-large, front-facing speakers provide a full and rich room-filling presence. • A dedicated “Piano Room” lets a player choose from a variety of pianos and acoustic settings to create their own personal piano environment at home or virtually anywhere. The position of a virtual grand piano lid can even be adjusted.

Yamaha Expands Groundbreaking Line of TransAcoustic Pianos with New Grand and Upright Models at the 2016 NAMM Show

ANAHEIM (January 21, 2016) — Yamaha expands its groundbreaking line of TransAcoustic pianos with two new grand models — the C1XTA and C3XTA— and three uprights — the YUS1TA, YUS3TA and YUS5TA — at the 2016 NAMM Show. These new instruments bring the number of TransAcoustic models to seven, offering more piano size options to choose from. These hybrid instruments employ the company’s exclusive TransAcoustic technology that both utilize and expand on the incredible sonic qualities of an acoustic piano. This innovation uses all elements of the acoustic piano to augment and amplify digitally generated sounds, creating an omnipresent auditory experience with the naturally resonant characteristics of an acoustic piano. The new C1XTA and C3XTA grands and YUS1TA, YUS3TA and YUS5TA upright models are first and foremost fine acoustic pianos, with real strings and a superb action. However, they also open a new world of possibilities to performers. These include the ability to switch to the tone and physical presence of the world-renowned Yamaha CFX concert grand piano, or a wide variety of instruments — from electric pianos to a marimba and harpsichord. Perhaps the most scintillating sounds are generated when the player combines the acoustic and digital properties of the instrument — gentle orchestral strings under a natural piano, for example. This all comes with the benefits of Yamaha’s popular Silent Piano™, which keeps the hammers from hitting the strings, and instead sends an immersive, binaurally-sampled sound of the CFX concert grand directly to headphones for practicing or performing in total privacy. “Yamaha TransAcoustic pianos appeal to advanced piano players who are seeking to do more with their instrument, who want more out of their investment,” said Jim Levesque, marketing manager, hybrid pianos, Yamaha Corporation of America. “Unlike other digital instruments, where sound emanates from fixed directional speakers, these pianos reproduce sound in a way that envelops the user as never before. You can perform with a digital sound generated through the piano's soundboard with full volume control, or even combine the acoustic piano sound with the selectable digital sounds to create a lush multi-sound layer. There are simply no other pianos like these on the market from any other manufacturer.” TransAcoustic technology combines a number of technological elements such as transducers, optical sensors and a digital tone generator with the acoustic elements of the piano, such as the soundboard, the strings and the cabinet. Each of these new instruments offer a mix of capabilities aimed to meet the demands of today’s lifestyle for rehearsing and performing. TransAcoustic technology provides a whole new world of possibilities for piano performance, including: ● Digital sounds with real acoustic string resonance and harmonics; ● Variable sound volume control to play digital sounds at low or high volumes without having to wear headphones; ● Ability to layer digital sounds with acoustic piano sound.

Pricing and Availability The Yamaha TransAcoustic C1XTA and C3XTA grand, and YUS1TA and YUS5TA upright models are available for immediate shipment. For more information, visit the Yamaha Booth at the 2016 NAMM Show in the Anaheim Marriott Hotel, Marquis Ballroom, January 21-24, 2016, or visit http://4wrd.it/TransAcousticPiano

Yamaha CSS-A Series Concert Snare Drums Deliver High Durability with Superior Sound

ANAHEIM (January 21, 2016) — Yamaha today showcased the company’s next generation CSS-1450A and CSS-1465A Concert Snare Drum models featuring upgraded hardware at the 2016 NAMM Show. Ideally suited for wind ensembles and a wide variety of musical genres, the CSS series has earned an enviable reputation as one the top selling models in the concert snare drum category, exceeding similar brands in every aspect of sound and overall quality. The new models provide a significant upgrade from the original CSS series, most notably in their highly durable 1.2mm chrome-plated steel shells, making them the only drums of this kind offered by a major percussion manufacturer specifically for the concert percussion market. Other improvements include a 3-piece zinc/steel tubular lug tuning system to optimize the shell vibration, and a Q-Type strainer which enables the snares to be tightened and released quickly and easily. Coiled snares make it effortless to play even-sounding rolls, perfect for both the beginning and intermediate percussionist, while the 30/45 bearing edge ensures fast transfer of vibration throughout the shell for increased sensitivity and warmth. Designed with aspiring drummers in mind, the CSS-1450A (9.2 lbs.; 14” X 5”) and CSS-1465A (10.5 lbs.; 14” X 6.5”) are built to be concert snare drums as the first priority, but ideal for all types of situations, including with a drum set. “It was as important to respect the history, quality, and playability of our successful CSS Series as it was to improve upon it,” said Troy C. Wollwage, marketing manager, percussion instruments, Yamaha Corporation of America. “After more than 36,000 consecutive tests that included every component of these drums, these concert snare drums have proven themselves to be worthy of the Yamaha name in every way.”

Bösendorfer Unveils Limited Edition Kessler Designed Grand Bohemian: The Most Opulent Piano in the World

—Entrepreneur Richard Kessler has Designed a Piano as Unique and Grand as His Bohemian Brand—

ANAHEIM (January 21, 2016) – To find inspiration for a new special edition piano, Bösendorfer collaborated with Richard Kessler, owner of the highly acclaimed Grand Bohemian boutique hotels and a passionate art collector, to create the Grand Bohemian piano, on display at the NAMM show. “I was certainly surprised — and honored,” Kessler says of the opportunity. “Bösendorfer is the premier instrument being made today, known for creating unique, hand-crafted instruments. My hotels are also highly-designed products, with art and music being a significant part of the brand. As an art collector myself, I already own several Bösendorfer instruments. Designing a piano with the company, along with my friend and international artist Franco Castellucio, has long been my dream. This namesake piano is a reflection of Bösendorfer’s limitless possibilities and, at the same time, is truly a collector’s piece of art.” Since the company’s beginnings in 1828, Bösendorfer has remained unwaveringly committed to crafting the finest pianos in the world, but it also pays meticulous attention to the design of each individual instrument. This is clearly evident in past collaborations with traditional designers such as Anton Grosser and Theophil Hansen, as well as F.A Porsche and Audi, which have resulted in exciting new designs for such a majestic instrument. The Grand Bohemian piano builds upon this legacy of deeply committed collaboration, and is as much a work of art as it is a musical instrument. Keeping the acoustic integrity of the piano intact was a key consideration. “It is essential for Bösendorfer to never compromise on the acoustic assembly of the instrument. This means that all core components – the soundboard, the heart of the piano, etc. – must never be modified,” explains Simon Oss, premium piano marketing manager, Yamaha Corporation of America. “The exterior, on the other hand, provides unlimited creative possibilities, and the Grand Bohemian piano is a prime example of how traditional piano building craftsmanship seamlessly combines with magnificent design.” The Grand Bohemian was inspired by a painting of a peacock and the collection of bronze sculpture Kessler owns. “I’m fascinated with the beauty and elegance of the peacock, and bronze was the perfect medium for the base of the piano,” he says. “I approached its design the way we do hotels, starting with the seed of an idea, then building the story around the idea. We eventually chose this design because it is opulent, classic, and contemporary.” The Kessler Design piano would look as at home in a mythical forest as an art museum or luxury penthouse, with a bronze-cast base evocative of tree branches and adorned with woodland creatures. A peacock, with feathers unfurled makes up the music stand, and the entire piano frame has been painstakingly covered by hand with gold leaf. LED lighting within the soundboard area and under lighting at the base give the piano an otherworldly glow – an appropriate finishing touch for such a grand instrument. It’s classical, yet edgy, with a distinctive Baroque funk factor, perfectly in tune with the Kessler Collection’s unique brand. “Designing this piano was one of the most enjoyable things I’ve ever done,” Kessler says proudly.

Pricing and Availability The Bösendorfer Special Edition Kessler Design piano (MSRP: $420,000) is limited to only nine instruments, and is available now. For more information, visit the Yamaha Booth at the 2016 NAMM Show in the Anaheim Marriott Hotel, Marquis Ballroom, January 21-24, 2016, or visit http://4wrd.it/BosendorferTour -END-

About Bösendorfer Bösendorfer was founded in 1828 and has been the instrument of choice for many of the world’s most famous artists and composers. This limited production, handcrafted instrument remains one of the most sought after instruments for musicians, institutions and piano enthusiasts worldwide.

About Richard Kessler Richard Kessler, who co-founded Days Inn of America at age 23 (and was named Chairman at 29), started the Kessler Collection of hotels in 1995, inspired by the artsy Bohemian Club in San Francisco. Today his franchise includes the Grand Bohemian Hotel in Orlando, Florida; Casa Monica in St. Augustine, Florida; Bohemian Hotel in Savannah, Georgia; Grand Bohemian Hotel in Asheville, North Carolina; Grand Bohemian Hotel in Charleston, South Carolina; Grand Bohemian Hotel in Mountain Brook, Alabama and Mansion on Forsyth Park in Savannah, Georgia, to name a few. Kessler discovered Bösendorfer pianos while searching for a unique instrument to grace the lobby of the Orlando property and ended up purchasing a 97-key Imperial Bösendorfer grand limited edition model Hollein. He has “eight or nine” pianos in his personal collection, the greatest number of Bösendorfer pianos owned by an individual.

Yamaha HPH-MT7 Studio Monitor Headphones Deliver Exceptional Precision and Fidelity for Audio Engineers

ANAHEIM (January 21, 2016) — Yamaha today showcased the new MT Series professional studio monitor headphones, the HPH-MT7, at The 2016 NAMM Show. The concept is to deliver exceptional precision and fidelity that will provide audio engineers in professional monitoring environments with an ideal platform to build their own signature sound. Drawing from the same philosophy of sonic purity that inspired the development of the industry standard NS-10M studio monitor speakers, MT7 headphones are designed to deliver flat, high-resolution sound with precise stereo imaging and faithful source signal reproduction. They also provide a high level of isolation and comfort, which is ideal for extended listening sessions where fatigue is a primary consideration. The MT7 headphones feature custom drivers equipped with CCAW voice coils and powerful neodymium magnets to achieve precise definition and control even at the highest output levels. Made from aluminum wire coated in highly conductive copper, the lightweight yet powerful drivers deliver a broad frequency response of 15 Hz-25 kHz. The sturdy design features a closed-back, circumaural configuration that provides a comfortable fit and the solid ABS housing, die-cast aluminum support arms and sweat-resistant headband ensure that the MT7 models have the durability required for the rigors of road travel. The large ear pads are made from a smooth synthetic leather and low-resistance cushions that absorb excess vibrations and reduce sound leakage, providing outstanding isolation and stress-free wearability over extended periods of time. A three-dimensional arm pivot construction and highly adjustable slider length allows the angle of the ear pads to fit the shape of the wearer’s head perfectly, helping to alleviate fatigue. MT7 headphones also feature steerable earcups for single-ear monitoring and a straight, lightweight three meter cord that comes equipped with a corrosion-resistant gold-plated stereo mini-plug and a gold-plated 6.3 mm stereo adaptor that allows them to be used with professional audio gear and portable audio players. “The HPH-MT7 studio monitor headphones exemplify the sound philosophy that we have pursued consistently since Yamaha first produced the industry standard NS- 10M monitor speakers,” said Ken Hiraoka, department manager, , “The recent trend of increasing usage of headphones in a growing variety of recording and live sound environments served as the impetus for the creation of the MT7 models. Bösendorfer Debuts the Butterfly Limited Edition Piano: An Elegant Piece of Musical Art

—An Exclusive Offering for Design-Savvy Music Lovers —

ANAHEIM (January 21, 2016) – The new Butterfly Limited Edition Model is the third in a series of special edition marquetry pianos from Bösendorfer, the premier manufacturer of unique, handcrafted, special design instruments. Instead of a regular polished ebony or wood finish, the delicate floral and butterfly motif and special cabinet design elevates what is already a world-class acoustic piano into a free standing piece of art. “There is an increased demand for customized pianos, and the Butterfly piano is one of the finest ever created,” says Simon Oss, marketing manager of premium pianos at Yamaha Corporation of America. “When making a financial investment in a piano, people look for an instrument that also makes a design statement in their homes, and they want it to be unique.” The exclusivity of the Limited Editions is another strong selling point: only nine of these pianos will be sold worldwide, and two have already been sold. In keeping with the Viennese tradition of incorporating art into the craft of piano- making, the unique design on the inside of the lid recreates a beautiful scene from nature, inspired by the Viennese Schönbrunn Palace and the Imperial Butterfly House. “The back story makes the piano more remarkable and beautiful, adding value aesthetically that other pianos don't,” Oss says. “Another interesting aspect of the design is the inclusion of eight butterflies; a number considered as lucky by Asian cultures. The butterflies symbolize love, romance, happiness, immortality and rebirth.” The Butterfly — like its predecessors in the marquetry series, the Hummingbird and Schönbrunn models — is created by using the traditional sand shading technique on the colored wood. Veneers used within the marquetry inlay include tulip wood, English and American burr walnut, birds eye maple, ripple sycamore, myrtle burr, silky oak, and eucalyptus.

Pricing and Availability The Bösendorfer Butterfly Limited Edition Model (MSRP: $198,999) will ship in January. Yamaha Piaggero Portable Keyboards Now Feature iOS App Compatibility

ANAHEIM (January 21, 2016) — Yamaha today introduced the NP12 and NP32, the next generation of Piaggero portable keyboards that now offer compatibility with educational and creative software programs on a PC or iOS device. Slim, light and compact, the new portable keyboards build on the success and reputation of the keyboards they replace – the NP11 and NP31 – and deliver high quality piano and keyboard voices. The Piaggero NP12 (61 keys) and NP32 (76 keys) both possess a Graded Soft Touch Action that emulates the graded resistance of an acoustic piano with a heavier touch in the low register and a lighter touch in the high register. Now available in both black or white finishes, the keyboards feature 64 notes polyphony (vs. 32 on previous models), a built-in song recorder, as well as USB to HOST connectivity to PC, which eliminates the need for a MIDI interface when using PC based software applications. The new NP12 and NP32 are compatible with the Yamaha Digital Piano Controller App for iOS devices which adds a rich graphic user interface and makes configuration and navigation of the instruments’ features even easier. An optional wireless UD-BT01 (USB Bluetooth MIDI Adapter) accessory enables wireless connectivity to a computer or iOS device, making it even easier to tap into the wide variety of creative and educational software applications, such as NoteStar and Visual Performer. “Piaggero keyboards are simple and intuitive, fun to play and sound great – perfect for hobbyists, students and performers looking for an affordable, ultra-portable piano,” said Mark Anderson, director of marketing, Keyboard Division, Yamaha Corporation of America. “New connectivity and song recording options on the Piaggero NP12 and NP32 take things to a new level, providing inspiration whenever creativity strikes.”

Yamaha PSR-A3000 Arranger Workstation Brings Expanded Voices and Styles, Audio-Centric Features to World Keyboard

ANAHEIM (January 21, 2016) — Yamaha today introduced the PSR-A3000 Arranger Workstation, which brings expanded FlashROM and powerful audio-centric features to the specialized “world” keyboard category. Based on the company’s top-of-the-line PSR-S series keyboards, the new PSR- A3000 is packed with a sonic palette featuring Arabic, Maghreb, Khaligi, Iranian, Turkish and Greek Styles. Super Articulation Voices reproduce the natural expressive nuances of non-keyboard instruments, allowing keyboard players to achieve realistic expression recreating the sounds of many cultures in a wide range of genres. Now with 512MB of on-board FlashROM, the PSR-A3000 allows for the addition of even more customized expansion Voices and Styles from the company’s Voice & Style Expansion pack library. Audio Link Multi Pads on the new model allow the user to trigger audio files stored on a USB flash drive directly from the instrument’s Multi Pad buttons during a performance. Another attractive audio-centric feature on the PSR-A3000 is an innovative Vocal Cancel function with independent pitch and tempo change that effectively cancels or suppresses the vocals and solos, allowing the musicians to make their own “minus one” track and sing karaoke-style with just instrumental backing. “The PSR-A3000 is designed from the ground up to allow world musicians to paint any kind of multicultural soundscape,” said Mark Anderson, director of marketing, Keyboard Division, Yamaha Corporation of America. “For studio players, the PSR- A3000 opens the door to sounds and drum patterns not found in other keyboards, and offers the ability to manipulate them easily. For live playing, Yamaha has included fast, on-the-fly controllers to take the difficulty out of making instant changes. This is why the PSR-A3000 will continue to be the top choice of songwriters and entertainers around the globe.” Rounding out the key features are an assignable joystick controller, a panel scale tuner—essential for performing various world music genres; a 16-track sequencer, a variety of DSP effects, as well as new WIFI audio & MIDI capability (requires the optional UD-WL01 USB wireless LAN adapter), making it the most advanced world music keyboard available today.

Pricing and Availability Yamaha PSR-A3000 (MSRP: $1,999) will ship in January 2016. For more information, visit the Yamaha Booth at the 2016 NAMM Show in the Anaheim Marriott Hotel, Marquis Ballroom, January 21-24, 2016, or http://4wrd.it/ArrangerWorkstation

Bösendorfer Oscar Peterson Signature Edition Piano Brings Jazz Icon’s Performances Back to Life

– Limited Edition Reproducing Piano Faithfully Recreates 13 songs originally recorded by the jazz icon in the ‘70s –

ANAHEIM (January 21, 2016) – Bösendorfer is showcasing a stunning piece of musical history at Winter NAMM – a remarkable instrument capable of recreating “live” performances originally recorded by Oscar Peterson, one of the greatest jazz pianists ever. The Bösendorfer Oscar Peterson Signature Edition piano pays homage to the late jazz icon, who treasured his own handpicked Bösendorfer Imperial piano. It also represents a remarkable technological feat — that of faithfully recreating note-for-note performances that Mr. Peterson had personally recorded in the 1970s on the Pianocorder, the most advanced reproducing piano technology of that era. The digital recordings, which captured extremely accurate key and pedal data of Mr. Peterson’s performances, have been meticulously rescued and converted this year to a modern-day format, enjoyed once again thanks to Disklavier E3 technology built into the limited edition Bösendorfer piano. With just the touch of a button, the instrument’s keys and pedals come alive, moving up and down to recreate Mr. Peterson’s original performances, just as he played them 40 years ago. Included in this historical collection are: “” (), “Take the A Train” and “Lush Life” (Billy Strayhorn), “Back Home Again in Indiana” (James F. Hanley), “Who Can I Turn To” (Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley), “Falling In Love with Love” (Richard Rodgers), “Body and Soul” (Johnny Green), “Blues of the Prairies” (Oscar Peterson), “Honeysuckle Rose” (Fats Waller), “Misty” (Erroll Garner), “A Time for Love” (Johnny Mandel), “Old Folks” (Willard Robison) and “Someone to Watch Over Me” (George Gershwin). “Tears surprised me as the first notes resonated from the piano,” reflected Kelly Peterson, Oscar’s wife. “The memory of it brings tears still…the best part, however, was being able to stand at the keyboard, in Oscar’s ‘spot,’ and hear the performance from his perspective. I could never do that during a concert, of course, and this opportunity had me spellbound.” Only 12 Bösendorfer Oscar Peterson Signature Edition pianos will be available for sale worldwide. The piano made its debut this past December at The Royal Conservatory of Music’s Koerner Hall in Toronto during Oscar @ 90, an evening of piano music to celebrate the 90th birthday of the late jazz icon. “The exclusivity of owning a Bösendorfer brings with it a pride, satisfaction and enjoyment known only to collectors of fine art and fine musical instruments,” said Simon Oss, premium piano marketing manager, Bösendorfer. “This Bösendorfer Oscar Peterson Signature Edition is steeped in jazz history and in the company’s rich European musical legacy – straight from the home of Franz Schubert, Gustav Mahler, W.A. Mozart, , Ludwig van Beethoven, Franz Joseph Haydn, as well as jazz artists George Duke, Joe Zawinul, and many more. We are proud to offer this piano with Disklavier E3 technology to bring these outstanding performances by the iconic jazz pianist Oscar Peterson to music lovers for the very first time on a Bösendorfer in their living room.”

Pricing and Availability The Bösendorfer Oscar Peterson Signature Edition piano (MSRP: $189,999) will ship in January. Soundmondo Social Sound-Sharing Website Lets reface Users Inspire and be Inspired Any Place, Any Time

BUENA PARK, Calif. (January 8, 2016) — Yamaha has officially launched Soundmondo (www.soundmondo.com), a groundbreaking social sound-sharing website for sharing reface Mobile Mini Keyboard sounds. Soundmondo is one of the first sites to implement WebMIDI, a new W3C (API) pioneered by Google in Chrome (versions 43 and later) earlier this year. WebMIDI connects MIDI devices to the Internet allowing musical instruments to play online synthesizers, as well as save or share sounds with Soundmondo. Because WebMIDI is part of Chrome, Soundmondo works on Mac, PC and Android devices. The Yamaha reface Mobile Mini Keyboards are the first instruments to work with Soundmondo. Featuring four models, each with a unique tone generator and control panel, reface empowers users with an easy way to store, recall, organize and share their sounds. “Soundmondo is social sound-sharing for synthesizers,” said Nate Tschetter, marketing manager, Music Production, Yamaha Corporation of America. “Back in the day, synthesizers had patch sheets where sound re-creation was a manual process of duplicating settings from a printed diagram. Soundmondo instantly sends the sound to your instrument and visually shows you how to re-create it. It’s like having your own personal synth programmer on call 24/7.” Saving sounds on Soundmondo is easy. Once the user connects their instrument and sets up an account, they simply hit CREATE and give their sound a name, a description and tags. They can also add a YouTube video and SoundCloud audio to really show off their sound.

According to Tschetter, the real fun comes in checking out sounds created by other Soundmondo users. BROWSE shows all available sounds (currently over 1,200), and the user can refine their search using tags. Once the user finds a sound they might like, they simply click on it and hit SYNC. This will send the sound to their connected reface AND show them how to move the controls to recreate the sound. For reface DX users, there’s an added bonus: a full editor showing all parameters with full navigation and editing using a computer keyboard. Yamaha reface Mobile Mini Keyboards, introduced this past summer, feature built-in speakers and battery power along with interactive controls, incredible keyboard feel and great sound for a truly pro instrument that lets musicians create their sound any place, any time. Yamaha Clavinova CVP-700 Series Puts Two World Class Concert Grand Pianos Right at Your Fingertips

ANAHEIM (January 21, 2016) — Yamaha is showcasing the Clavinova CVP-700 Series — the most versatile and best sounding digital pianos to date — at the Winter NAMM show. The powerful, award-winning new lineup includes the CVP-701, CVP-705, CVP- 709 and the CVP-709GP. At the heart of each model is Yamaha’s Real Grand Expression sound engine, which harmonizes the three key elements of sound, touch and pedals to provide the definitive, immersive experience of playing a real grand piano. For the first time, the Yamaha CVP Series features the sampled sounds of two world class concert grand pianos — the Yamaha CFX and the Bösendorfer Imperial— further redefining the expressive capabilities and dynamic range for digital pianos today. “The Clavinova stands alone in the music experience it offers, and the new CVP- 700 Series exponentially improves that experience for every member of the family,” said Dane Madsen, marketing manager, digital pianos, Yamaha Corporation of America. Another highlight of the new CVP models is Piano Room, a remarkable feature first introduced in the previous generation and expanded upon in the new Series. Piano Room lets the player select from multiple types of pianos including grands, uprights, a honky-tonk piano and many more. Users can also select a playing location, such as concert hall, cathedral or stage. Instantly, the tone quality changes to match that piano and place, giving the player’s performance a totally different feel. When playing the grand piano or pop grand, the player can even choose to have the virtual piano lid open or closed. The new CVP-700 Series includes more instruments, such as Super Articulation Flute, Audio Style Drummers and Boys Choir plus a new session mode with a built-in recording studio for capturing and sharing your music. The touch found on the new Clavinovas will impress the most demanding piano players, thanks to the refined NWX and GH3X keyboard actions. These actions incorporate an escapement that reproduces the feel of a grand piano as it goes through the let-off and drop of a hammer when a key is played very softly. Super Articulation 2 Voices offer the most realistic, expressive-sounding instrument Voices, while Accompaniment Styles with Yamaha Mega Voice technology provide everything from a drum beat groove to a full band of professional musicians who are always ready to play. This allows the user to be accompanied by backing bands or ensembles in any genre you choose. Whether beginner or expert, the Clavinova’s unique guide system, Follow Lights, lets users simply follow the lights above the keys to learn a song. They can also view the notated music to the song right on their instrument’s screen. A terrific feature of Follow Lights is that as they play, the sounds of a full orchestra accompanies them at their tempo, getting faster as their playing improves. With unprecedented wireless iPad integration and exclusive Yamaha iOS apps, users can easily share their music online, archive their own songs or favorites, browse custom performance settings from the Internet and download new songs directly from the vast MusicSoft library into their Clavinova, all without having to connect any cables. While the CVP Series has been widely popular with families seeking a state-of- the-art alternative to a traditional upright, the versatility of a Clavinova also makes it a music director’s best friend in contemporary houses of worship,as well as for professional musicians looking to expand their performance.

Pricing and Availability The CVP-701, CVP-705 and CVP-709 (MSRP range: $5,399 to $20,999) is currently available in black walnut wood finish or polished ebony. Yamaha DXS18 Powered Subwoofer Delivers Highest Output and Lowest Frequency in the DXS Series

ANAHEIM (January 21, 2016) — Yamaha today showcased its newest addition to the DXS Series of powered subwoofers, the DXS18, at The 2016 NAMM Show. Joining the DXS12 and DXS15 models, the DXS18 delivers the highest output level of the series as well as the lowest frequency range capability. Since the introduction of the DSR, DXR and DBR series of full-range speakers, Yamaha’s powered speaker lineup has earned considerable acclaim worldwide. Yamaha developed the DXS Series to complement its speaker lineup and add a more prominent, well-defined bottom end to their sound. The DXS18 builds on the design ethic of its predecessors, the DXS12 and DXS15, by offering improved cabinet construction, DSP processing, protection functions and crossover control. The new model adds flexible features and higher power output suitable for larger or more professional applications. Powered by a 1020W Class-D amplifier, the DXS18 houses an 18” woofer with a durable 4” voice coil in a sturdy band-pass type plywood enclosure, which delivers an impressive 136 dB maximum SPL (and an extended LF response down to 32Hz), with exceptional clarity and minimal distortion. The new model features Yamaha’s proprietary DSP technology with original D-XSUB processing for additional control of the low frequency range via two selectable modes—BOOST and XTENDED LF—and a selectable crossover with three different options (80/100/120Hz) for various applications. The DXS18 also features a Cardioid Mode setting for sound systems with two or more DXS18 speakers, effectively reducing the energy directed towards the stage while increasing bass levels directed at the audience. Built with the expectation that users will transport and use these speakers extensively, the DXS18 features advanced protection circuits in the speaker unit, amplifier unit and power supply that ensure optimum reliability and extended equipment life. The enclosure is coated with a rugged, durable LINE-X® finish, also used in disaster protection applications, giving the speaker exterior added protection from the elements. The model also comes equipped with M20 and 35mm pole sockets allowing for more flexible set up, while an optional wheel kit is also available for improved portability. Yamaha also offers optional speaker covers with a functional design that provide protection from unfavorable weather conditions during outdoor performances, dusty and dirty warehouse storage and the rigors of the road. “Drawing from the constant feedback of Yamaha powered speaker users in the field, and the valuable insight we have accrued from our ongoing collaboration with the touring loudspeaker experts at NEXO, we have produced a subwoofer that will meet the strictest demands of customers and their expanding scope of sound reinforcement applications,” said Ken Hiraoka, department manager, Yamaha Pro Audio. “By delivering a cabinet with impressive power output and extended low frequency range, this full-range speaker offers a powerful new solution to build sound systems for more large-scale venues and audiences.” The DXS18 (MSRP: $1,949) is now shipping. The newly implemented class-compliant mode offers a seamless link to the iPad when using either a Camera Connection Kit or Lightning to USB Camera Adapter, while the interface’s additional Loopback capability now offers an easy way of streaming performances live to the Internet.

The full-metal chassis houses studio-grade converters, delivering pristine sonic fidelity with a maximum sample rate of 192 kHz and a 24-bit resolution. Yamaha’s discrete Class-A analog D-PRE preamps ensure unprecedented sound quality on top of the stable gain required by microphone signals.

UR22mkII customers are entitled to download the Cubase AI music production software as well as the new Cubasis LE app for iPad, providing immediate tools for recording, mixing and editing audio on a Windows PC, Mac computer and iPad.

“The UR22mkII is designed and built for mobile musicians and producers that expect high performance wherever they are, and that for a very affordable price.
