For the first time, the young musicians will perform at two NAMM venues: 8:30 a.m. at the NAMMU Dealer Breakfast in the Pacific Ballroom, Hilton Anaheim Hotel and 1:00 p.m. at the Yamaha Booth, Keyboard Division area, Marquis Ballroom at the Anaheim Marriott Hotel. All NAMM attendees are invited to enjoy the free 1 p.m. concert event, which will feature young talented Yamaha Music School students performing their own original compositions. Nine-year-old Alexander Hurvitz, a student at Harmony Music World, Fullerton, Calif., will perform his original piano solo composition, “Pushy Cat and Nutty Squirrels.” Chloe Li, also age 9 and a JSAC student at the Irvine Yamaha Music Center, will play the Clavinova CVP-509 in her original ensemble composition, “First Flight.” Chloe will play along with percussionists Dominic Primo, Sarah Chen and Lauren Chen, as well as her sister Claire Li, who will be performing on a second CVP-509. Sharon Hurvitz, age 13, a JSAC Graduate and student at Harmony Music World in Fullerton, Calif., will perform her original composition, “Winter Rhapsody,” on the piano, accompanied by violinist Avi Nagin and Cellist Natalie Helm. The Yamaha Music Education System offers six music courses for children between the ages of three and ten. Classes are held weekly, covering everything from listening skills to keyboard performance. The program began in the mid-1950s in Japan under the direction of Mr. Genichi Kawakami, President of Nippon-Gakki Company, Ltd. (today’s Yamaha Corporation). Mr. Kawakami believed his company was responsible not only for making a quality product, but also for teaching customers how to use it. Consequently, he established the non-profit Yamaha Music Foundation (YMF) in 1966 for the purpose of developing and promoting music education and music popularization activities internationally. YMF guides the worldwide development of the Yamaha Music Education System and 2 of 2 also sponsors international events such as the Junior Original Concert (JOC). In the United States, the Music Education Division of Yamaha Corporation of America works in cooperation with Yamaha Music Foundation to design new courses, improve instructional quality, and refine existing programs. This hybrid category caters to serious players who live in small spaces, as well as families on limited budgets, offering them the feel and sound of an acoustic grand. “The touch and feel of a piano is vitally important to any pianist, whether they’re just starting out or playing at a professional level,” says Jim Levesque, hybrid piano marketing manager, Yamaha Corporation of America. “The NU1 delivers an authentic playing experience that is almost indistinguishable from that of an acoustic piano.” With the same action and natural wood keys used in Yamaha’s finest upright pianos, the NU1 offers a realistic feel that is sure to inspire. Marquetry is the use of many pieces of different types of wood veneer to create images and has long been viewed a symbol of wealth. Many fine examples of marquetry can be found in the Imperial Palaces of Vienna, including the Schoenbrunn Palace, the summer residence of The Austrian Habsburg Imperial Family. While many historical pianos have included marquetry designs, they have seldom been re-envisioned for the 21st Century. The Austrian Habsburg Imperial Family was delighted by exotic images of nature, covering the walls of their intimate music room with wonderful jungle scenes. The Palace, outfitted with a suite of rooms featuring exotic garden panoramas commissioned by Maria Theresa and hand painted by the celebrated 18th Century Bohemian Ornamentalist painter Johan Wenzel Bergl, played host to six-year-old Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, who performed for the Empress Maria Theresa at Schoenbrunn.

  • KANSAS Has Spent Than Four Decades As a Part of the Soundtrack of the Lives of Multiple Generations of Music Lovers
KANSAS has spent than four decades as a part of the soundtrack of the lives of multiple generations of music lovers. The band’s first public statement appeared on their self-titled album in 1974. "From the beginning, we considered ourselves and our music different and we hope we will always remain so." Little did this legendary rock group realize that back in the early ‘70's, what seemed to be “different," was actually ahead of its time. This "garage band" from Topeka released their debut album in 1974 after being discovered by Wally Gold, who worked for Don Kirshner. The band has produced eight gold albums, three sextuple-Platinum albums (Leftoverture, Point of Know Return, Best of KANSAS), one platinum live album (Two for the Show), and a million-selling gold single, ‘Dust in the Wind.’ KANSAS appeared on the Billboard charts for over 200 weeks throughout the ‘70's and ‘80's and played to sold-out arenas and stadiums throughout North America, Europe and Japan. ‘Carry On Wayward Son’ was the #2 most played track on classic rock radio in 1995 and went to #1 in 1997. In 1998, KANSAS released an orchestral album; "Always Never the Same," recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra at Abbey Road Studios in London. They followed with an orchestral tour accompanied by top-caliber symphony orchestras. In 2000 KANSAS went back into the studio with original band member and songwriter Kerry Livgren to produce "Somewhere to Elsewhere," the first album featuring all 6 of the original players in 20 years! The ten new songs were written by Kerry Livgren and recorded in his studio in Topeka, KS.

  • Kansas – Point of Know Return Live
Doch neben dem kompletten 77er Album „Point Of Know Return“ bietet man einen sehr gut austarierten Mix aus Klassikern, neuem Material (u.a.
