The winner was Maeu Kubota, a Japanese-born student, who beat 400 others with his proposal to enhance foreigners' accessibility by analyzing the merits and demerits of the six sections of the Seoul City Wall. Kubota walked away with 1 million won (US$889) prize money. The Seoul City Wall was built in 1396, during the Joseon Dynasty. It stretches 18.6km along the ranges of Bugaksan, Naksan, Namsan, and Inwangsan Mountains. The Mediheal Scholarship Foundation is a public corporation that was established in 2017 to foster future talent. In addition to the scholarship programme for foreign students, it also provides financial support to Korean university students, aiming to support 200 foreign students and 100 Korean university students each year. According to Lotte’s website, the company selects and supports foreign students in 13 universities all over Korea by providing expenses for experiencing Korean culture. Some activities include trying out Korean traditional costumes and making Korean rice cakes. “The Global Ambassador programme started with the aim of finding new ways to develop Korean tourism through the eyes of foreigners," said Kim Bo-joon, marketing director at Lotte Duty Free.” Apart from the Global Ambassador programme, Lotte is also conducting various activities to develop the Korean tourism industry.
