SKY ACTIVE and FERNHART LAUNCH NATIONAL ‘WHAT's ON' GUIDE Submitted By: Dimoso Ltd Friday, 16 July 2004 SKY ACTIVE AND FERNHART LAUNCH NATIONAL ‘WHAT'S ON' GUIDE Submitted by: Dimoso Ltd Friday, 16 July 2004 For the first time on digital satellite viewers can search national and local events listings created, developed and hosted by Fernhart New Media Viewers in over seven million digital satellite households across the UK and Ireland can now book tickets to events across the country from the comfort of their own home thanks to a new listings service developed by Fernhart and launched on Sky Active today. Fernhart New Media, designed, built, and now hosts and supports, the Sky Active service: “The Sky Active What’s On Guide is another stellar service from Fernhart,” commented Daren Forsyth, Managing Director of Fernhart New Media. “Our team continues to deliver the most innovative and robust services for iTV. It was an exciting project to work on, a real privilege to deploy such a useful and ground breaking service on the world’s leading interactive television platform. Entertainment, Arts and Culture are now accessible in a totally new and different way. It does not get much better than that as a developer for TV.” The Sky Active What’s On Guide gives viewers a personalised service that searches events and venues within their local region automatically. Viewers can also search the entire national database by area, so if someone wants to go clubbing in Coventry or do something cultural in Cardiff, it’s all available at the press of a button. Viewers can even book the best seats in the house for over 6,000 arts, entertainment, popular attractions, music festivals and local events in over 4,800 venues across the UK and Ireland. Events available in July and August include tickets for the Carling Weekend: Leeds & Reading Festivals, the V Festival in Staffordshire, trips on the London Eye, 50 Cent in concert and the “Shhh... Sounds In Spaces” exhibition at London’s V&A. Ian Shepherd, Managing Director at Sky Interactive said, “The launch of the Sky Active What’s On Guide gives viewers a one stop shop for all their ticketing and events needs and complements our already successful Sky Active Cinema Guide.” The What’s On Guide works as a sister service to the existing Cinema Listings available on Sky. A single technical solution producing multiple “views” upon the same database and utilising shared business logic. This reduces administration, eases operations and reduces the total cost of ownership for the platform. ##ENDS## Fernhart and Sky Interactive Fernhart has been a trusted partner of Sky Interactive for over 5 years: 1999 Launches Domino’s Pizza on Open May 2001One of the first agencies to deploy on the Sky WTML platform (Domino’s Pizza) and is the only Page 1 agency to host a live service July 2001 Fernhart becomes 4Star developers for the Sky Platform August 2001Commissioned to design Sky Marketplace – A multiple retail vendor shopping portal on Sky Platform 2002 Fernhart takes over and redesigns Toto Pools service 2003 Commissioned by Sky to redesign, create a database driven backend, host and support Sky Cinema with an additional What’s On guide 2003Hired by the Scottish Executive to build a Portal on the Sky Platform, Fernhart host and support the service 2003Fernhart wins Sporting Index Spread Betting project which launches in 2004 A member of the Sky Interactive Developers’ Programme, Fernhart was one of the first independent agencies to develop services for the Sky platform.
