Discovering UNIVERSITY Bloomington, IN USA The Sample Gates The best way to enter and exit campus! The left shows the gates in the spring, and on the right in the fall. Showalter Fountain There are 5 fish in the fountain, and the one in the very front is smaller because it was once stolen by students and then replaced by the university.

The IU Auditorium At the auditorium, musicals, concerts, comedians, and other acts perform throughout the school year. I work at the auditorium selling tickets to the events! Rose Well House The Rose Well House holds the legend that if two people kiss underneath the house they will be in love forever! Herman B. Wells Herman B. Wells is a former president of the university that was famous for his time spent among the students. Now students shake the hand of his statue for good luck! Kirkwood Avenue This is the main street of the downtown area where many students will get together with friends to spend time together at the many restaurants and shops nearby! Indiana Memorial Stadium This is where our football team plays. When the team runs onto the field, fireworks go off and the band plays the school song. Students learned the cheer, “Let’s go, IU!”

This video shows the football team running out onto the field before a big game! Assembly Hall This is where the men and women’s teams play! It was recently remodeled so it is very beautiful inside. The Indiana Our men’s basketball team is famous for their candy striped pants. All of the students have taken to this IU tradition and many students own a pair of these pants themselves! Hysteria This video was played at which is an event where the students meet the basketball team and get excited for the upcoming basketball season. Go Hoosiers! The Students Discovering

● In the lesson, the students looked at pictures from around Indiana University’s campus. ● They saw places such as the Sample Gates, Showalter Fountain, the Auditorium, the Rose Well House, the statue of Herman B. Wells, Kirkwood Avenue, Memorial Stadium, and Assembly Hall. ● The 4 year old students then completed a worksheet where they drew themselves as an Indiana Hoosier basketball player wearing the famous candy striped pants. ● The 5 year old students created the IU logo in a new way by coloring an abstract design within the logo.

Future Hoosiers

● I loved being able to share about one of my favorite places with the students of Torremenapace! ● It was very fun for me to see their reactions and their excitement to pictures of a place that is very special to me. ● I hope that one day they will all be Indiana University Hoosiers!
