Are the 2 Come Dine and Dance at Cheshire View St David’s Wettenhall and Darnhall Village Hall joined forces in September for a fundraising Dinner Dance at Cheshire View, Christleton. Gentlemen arrived in bow ties and sharply pressed suits and ladies dressed formally in colours to match the last of the late summer evenings we had in September. The bar was open, wine uncorked and the evening began in good style. Sue and Richard Langley, who were the main organisers of the evening, welcomed everyone. The room looked great, with balloons and mini chocolate bars in the table centres and there was plenty of room to chat and meet with friends. The three course meal was delicious, with Cheshire proving yet again it produces some of the best beef in the country. The staff at Cheshire View served dinner smoothly and efficiently and it was soon time for Angela Hancock’s “easy” music quiz, at least it began easily, but then moved into film themes that became well….. challenging! Brainwork soon gave over to dancing and easy rhythms of samba, salsa, ballroom and disco favourites encouraged not only the regular dancers from Angela’s Ballroom Latin and Sequence Adult classes, but others too. The floor was full until the end of the evening. It was another hugely enjoyable evening for everyone, giving us all an opportunity to dress up, step out of usual weekend routines and help raise money for our local Village Hall and our church. In every way, it was a really companionable way to spend an evening. The dinner dance and raffle raised £600 3 ST DAVID’S CHURCH, WETTENHALL Visit www.wettenhallchurch.org.uk SIDESPERSONS 3rd Nov Mrs. M. Drinkall 10th Churchwardens 17th Mr. J. Hamblin 24th Mr. J. In so doing he gives us five truths about it. 1. Its character – it is ‘ the power ’ or dynamic. It is not a philosophy, a list of rules, or mere good advice and exhortation, but transforming energy. 2. Its origin – it is ‘ of God ’; i.e. it is not devised by us, not another human attempt to achieve the humanly impossible, but is wrought by God. 3. Its benefit – it is ‘ for the salvation ’. It offers both a rescue from an evil state, and restoration to full health and well being through the death and resurrection of Jesus 4. Its Universality and its individual appeal . It is ‘ of everyone ’, the Jew and the Greek. It is not restricted to one race, class or type. It affords an opportunity which all can and must embrace for their own sakes. 5. Its one condition of benefit and therefore its simplicity and suitability . It is to them ‘ who believe ’ It does not demand of us works, merit, money, brains, culture etc., which are beyond our producing, but simply asks for the response of faith . He sums up his ministry ‘to call people from among the Gentiles to the obedience of faith ’1:5, and defines the purpose of writing because he has heard of their faith 1:8 and wants they and himself to be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith . 1:12 A verse for our own encouragement and stimulation to faith. 6 London & Counties Society of Physiologists Wendy Gorse LCSP (Phys) (GCMT.
