  • Audlem Doddington Wybunbury Parish Profile
    THE BENEFICE OF AUDLEM, DODDINGTON AND WYBUNBURY. The benefice was created in February 2010. Prior to that Doddington and Wybunbury were linked but Audlem was a single parish church. On the retirement of the incumbent at Wybunbury and Doddington, the benefice was created with the in situ incumbent for Audlem being appointed Vicar to the 3 churches. Since this time, the churches have retained their own identities, services and PCC’s but also work well together. People do support events at each of the churches. 2 Lay Readers work across all 3 churches, one retired priest supports services in Audlem, the other is at Doddington most weeks with occasional services in Wybunbury. It is located near to main line train services in Crewe, close to junction 16 of the M6. What we offer to our new incumbent • welcoming and supportive congregations and communities ● our prayerful support and encouragement ● our respect for your home life, your prayer life and encouragement and support to take holidays and regular time off each week ● the support of 2 retired Priests on a regular basis, 2 Lay Readers, strong PCC’s and experienced Church Wardens. Also many volunteers are willing to lead intercessions or read in church and a group take part in ‘open the book’ school worship. ● excellent and close links with 4 caring and effective C of E primary schools ● a church band at Wybunbury that enhances worship in a modern designed church. MINUTES OF LAST MEETING The minutes of the meeting held on 25th March 2015, which have been circulated, were approved and signed as a correct record. Proposed Cllr. K. Roden, Seconded Cllr. G. Williams. 3. MATTERS FOR REPORT a) Highways. This is an ongoing problem. A contractor did come and carry out some work, CE thought the problem was fixed but as we know it’s not! The Clerk has reported it again and sent photos to John Tickle. b) Zulu Bridge. The Clerk met CE officer Stuart Bateman on site on 24th April. He agreed that the bridge is too narrow for HGV / articulated vehicles unless they definitely need to use it for access. He needs to liaise with Middlewich Town Council because it is actually in their parish, but he will come up with a plan of suitable signs and actions. c) Boundary Signs. A local company (Plan It Signs of Newcastle, Staffs) have recently provided 4 signs to another parish for a total cost of £552. These were then erected on existing posts by CE. Bradwall will require new posts and signs at 4 locations.

    Appendix 4 Detailed proposals for each Ward – organised by Local Area Partnership (LAP) Proposed Wards within the Knutsford Local Area Partnership Knutsford Local Area Partnership (LAP) is situated towards the north-west of Cheshire East, and borders Wilmslow to the north-east, Macclesfield to the south-east and Congleton to the south. The M6 and M56 motorways pass through this LAP. Hourly train services link Knutsford, Plumley and Mobberley to Chester and Manchester, while in the east of this LAP hourly trains link Chelford with Crewe and Manchester. The town of Knutsford was the model for Elizabeth Gaskell's novel Cranford and scenes from the George C. Scott film Patton were filmed in the centre of Knutsford, in front of the old Town Hall. Barclays Bank employs thousands of people in IT and staff support functions at Radbroke Hall, just outside the town of Knutsford. Knutsford is home to numerous sporting teams such as Knutsford Hockey Club, Knutsford Cricket Club, Knutsford Rugby Club and Knutsford Football Club. Attractions include Tatton Park, home of the RHS Flower show, the stately homes Arley Hall, Tabley House and Peover Hall, and the Cuckooland Museum of cuckoo clocks. In detail, the proposals are: Knutsford is a historic, self-contained urban community with established extents and comprises the former County Ward of Knutsford, containing 7 polling districts. The Parish of Knutsford also mirrors the boundary of this proposal. Knutsford Town is surrounded by Green Belt which covers 58% of this proposed division. The proposed ward has excellent communications by road, motorway and rail and is bounded to the north by Tatton Park and to the east by Birkin Brook.

    Edward Charles Slater 05.06.1887 – 15.12.1917 Edward Charles Slater was baptised on the 5th June 1887 in Alderley Edge, the son of John and Mary Slater. In the 1881 census Edward was living in Welsh Row, Alderley Edge with his parents and his brother John and sisters Harriet and Emily. By 1901 the family had moved to Nether Alderley. By 1911 Edward had left home and was living with his wife Alice in Oak Road, Mottram St. Andrew who he had married in 1909 at All Saints Church, Siddington. Alice’s maiden name was Coppock and Edward’s occupation was a bricklayer. They had five children. Edward, Frank, Joey, Wallace Charles and Ellen. They also had a foster child named George. Edward was baptised in Prestbury in 1911, Joey in 1912, Frank in 1914, Wallace Charles in 1917 and Ellen in 1920. Edward enlisted in Mottram St. Andrew and served as gunner in the Royal Garrison Artillery (RGA) in the 63rd Siege Battery in France and Flanders and he was awarded the Victory Medal and the British Medal. His army number was 171714. Siege Batteries were equipped with heavy howitzers sending large calibre high explosive shells in high trajectory, plunging fire. The usual armaments were 6inch, 8inch or 9.2inch howitzers, although some had large rail or road mounted 12inch howitzers. The 63rd Siege Battery had two rail mounted 12inch howitzers and were sent to France on the 2nd March 1916. As British artillery tactics developed the Siege Batteries were most often employed in destroying or neutralising the enemy artillery as well as putting destructive fire down on strong points, dumps, stores, roads and railways behind enemy lines.
