Iv PRAKATA Sejak Rencana Pembangunan Lima Tahun 11 (1974), telah digariskan kebi- jakan pembinaan dan pengembangan kebudayaan nasional dalam berbagai seginya. Dalam gris haluan mi, masalah kebahasaan dan kesastraan merupa- kan salah satu masalah kebuyaan nasional yang perlu digarap dengan sung- guh-sungguh clan berencana sehingga tujuan akhir pembinaan dan pengemba- ngan bahasa Indonesia dan daerah, termasuk sastranya, dapat tercapai. Tujuan akhir pembinaan din pengembangan, antara lain, kemampuan menggunakan báiasa Indonesia sebagai sarana komunikasi nasio- nat, sebagaimana digariskan dalam Garis-Garis Besar Haluan Negara. Untuk mencapai tujuan itu, perlu dilakukan kegiatan kebahasaan dan kesastraan, Se- perti (1) pembakuan ejaan, tata bahasa, dan peristilahan; (2) penyusunan berbagai kamus bahasa Indonesia dan kamus bahasa daerah serta kamus istilah dalam berbagai bidang ilmu; (3) penyusunan buku-buku pedonian; (4) pener- jemahan karya kebahasaan dan buku acuan serta karya sastra daerah dan kar- ya sastra dunia ke dalarn bahasa Indonesia; (5) penyuluhan bahasa Indonesia, melalui berbagai media, antara lain televisi dan radio; (6) pengembangan pu- sat informasi kebahasaan dan kesastraan melalui inventarisasi, penelitian, dokumentasi, dan pembinaan jaringan informasi kebahasaan; dan (7) pengem- bangan tenaga, bakat, dan prestasi dalam bidang bahasa dan sastra melalui penataran, sayembara mengarang, serta pemberian bea siswa dan hadiah peng- hargaan. Sebagal salah satu tindak lanjut kebijakan itu, dibentuklah oleh Pemerin- tah, dalam hal mi Departenien Pendidilcan dan Kebudayaan, Proyek Pengem- bangan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia dan Daerah pada Pusat Pembinaan dan Pengembangan Bahasa pada tahun 1974. Setelah Proyek Pengembangan Ba- hasa dan Sastra Indonesia dan Daerah beijalan selama sepuluh tahun, pada tahun 1984 Proyek Pengembangan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia dan Daerah itu dipecah menjadi dua proyek yang juga berkedudukan di Pusat Penibinaan dan Pengembangan Bahasa, yaitu (1) Proyek Pengembangan Bahasa dan. Sas- V tra Indonesia, seth (2) Proyek Pengembangan Bahasa dan Sastra Daerah. Proyek Pengembangan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia mempunyal tugas p0- kok melaksanakan kegiatan kebahasaan yang bertujuan menlngkatkan mutu pemakalan bahasa Indonesia yang balk dan benar, m'empurnakan sandi (kode) bahasa Indonesia, mendorong pertumbuhan sastra Indonesia, dan me- ningkatkan apresiasi masyarakat terhadap sastra Indonesia. Dalam rangka penye1laa sarana krja dan buku acuan bagi mahasiswa, do- son, guru, tenaga peneliji, tenaga ahil, dan masyarakat ümum, naskah-naskah hasil Proyek Pengembangan Bahasa dan Sastra Indqnesia diterbltkan dengan dana Proyek Pengembangan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia setelah dinilal dan disunting. Kamus Lampung—Indonesia im semula merupakan naskah yang berjudul "Kamus bahasa Lampung—Indonesia" yang disusun oleh tim yang terdiri atas Dra. Sri Sukesi Adiwinarta (Konsultan) dan Junaiyah H.M. (Ketua). Setelah dinilai dan disunting, naskah Itu diterbitkan dengan dana Proyek Pengem- bangan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia. Aklurnya, kepada Sdr. Hans Lapoliwa, M. Phil, Pemimpin Proyek Pengem- bangan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia, beserta seluruh staf sekretariat Proyek, tenaga pelaksana, dan semua pthak yang memungkinkan terwujudnya pener- bitan buku mi, kami ucapkan terima kasih yang tak terhingga. Sebagai pekerjaan permulaan, tentu saja kamus mi bukanlah sebuah kamus yang sempurna. Di dalamnya masth banyakterdapat kesalahan dan kekurangan, balk yang jlisengaja maupun yang tldak. Melalui kesempatan yang berharga ml karni ingin menyampaikan terlma kasih kepada Ibu Dra. Sri Sukesi Adiwiinarta, Kepala Bidang Perkamusan dan Peristilahan, Pusat Pembinaan dan Pengembangan Bahasa, selaku penasihat yang selalu dengan rela hati membimbing kami. Kami pun bertenma kasih. kepada lbelim selaku Pemimpin Proyek Pengembangan Bihasa dan Sastra Indonesia dan Daerah yang telah menyediakan dana sehlnggamemungkinkan tersusunnya kamus mi. Penyuun PENDAHULUAN 1. Bahasa Lampung Bahasa Lampung adalah bahasa yang dlpakai oleh penduduk ash Lampung untuk berkomunikasi antara sesama mereka. Bahasa Lampung termasuk rumpun bahasa Austronesia. Hilman Hadikesuma membagi bahasa Lampung ke dalam dua dialek, yaitu dialek 0 disebut juga dialek Abung dan dialek A disebut juga dialek Pubian. Dale F. Walker membagi bahasa Lampung menjadi dialek Abung dan dialek Pesisir, sedangkan Van Royen membagi bahasa Itu menjadi dialek Nyo dan dialek Api. Walaupun berbeda penainaannya, yang dimaksudkan oleh ketiga ahli itu adalah sama, yaitu dialeJc 0 dan dialek A. Kamus ml mengkhususkan path pencatatan bahasa Lampung dialek 0 saja. Dialek ml dipakai di: a. daerah Kotabumi dan sekitarnya (disebut secara sosiolinguistik: dialek Abung); b. daerah sepanjang Way Seputlh dun sekitarnya (disebut secara sosiolinguls- tik: dialek Seputih); C. daerah Way Tulangbawang dan sekitarnya (dtsebut secara sosiotlnguistik: dialek Tulangbawang). 2. Tujuan Penyusunan Kainus Lainpung—Indonesia yang karni susun liii adalah Kainus Bahasa Lampung Dialek 0—Indonesia. Hal im sengaja kanil ba.tast sebab kemampuan, den kesempatan yang ada pada kanu ternyata san&at tetbatas pula. Penyusun mencoba mengmnventarisasikan kata-kata bahasa Lainpung dialek 0, mencarikan padanannya di dalam bahasa Indonesia dan sedapat- dapatnya kami sertal contoh pethakalannya di dalam kalimat. Tujuannya ialah agar peinakai bahasa Lampung dialek 0 dapat memakai padanan kata yang diperlukannya secara baik dan benar. Selain itu, kamus mi diharaikan dapat bermanfaat sebagai sarana penelitian lebih lanjut mengenai bahasa Lampung dialek 0. 3. Sumber Data Kamus mi disusun dengan menggunakan sumber-sumber sebagai berikut. a. A Grammar of Lampung Language, the Pesisfr Dialect of Way Lbw, oleh Dale F. Walker (disertasi), Seri Nusa, 1976. b. Buku I, II, dan III Daerah Lampung, Tim Peneiti Universitas Lampung. c. Bunga Rampai Adat Budaya Risalah ilmu Pengetahuan, Majalah Triwulan Fakultas Hukum Unila, Telukbetung, 1974. d. Cenita Rakyat, pantun, ungkapan, dan penibahasa Lampung. e. Daftar Kata Bahasa Lampung, hasil kerja Tim Penyusun Kasnus Lampung- Indonesia. f. Daftar kata bahasa Lampung yang disusun oleh penulis selama penulis masth kuliah. g. Kamus dwibahasa Lampung—Belanda, yaitu Froeve van Een Lampongsch- Hollandsch, bepaaldelijk voor her dialect van Kroe, susunan 0. L. Helfrich, di Batavia, 1891. h. Keterangan yang dikumpulkan dari manusia sumber yang berbahasa ibu bahasa Lampung dialek 0. i. Monografi Daerah Lampung, Tim Penyusun Monografi Daerah Lampung, Departemen Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan RI, Direktorat Jenderal Kebu-. dayaan, 1976. j. Kata-kata yang Dimuat Kata-kata yang dimuat di dalam kamus mi sedapat-dapatnya adalah kata- kata ash bahasa Lampung dialek 0 Kataiata yang bukan kata-kata dialék 0 tidak'dimuat, terkecuali kata-kata yang sudah terserap sepenuhnya sehingga tidak terasa lagi keasmgannya, misalnya, kaco, ayar, dan kursi.     A Sociological Study of Islamic Social Work in Contemporary Britain Rosalind Warden School of History, Archaeology and Religion Cardiff University Submitted in partial fulfilment of the degree of Doctor of Philosophy 2013 Abstract Recent years have witnessed increasing interest in the topics of religion and spirituality in social work, including a small body of texts focusing on social work with Muslims. Alongside this, statistical evidence such as the 2001 Census has documented the socio- economic disadvantage experienced by many Muslims communities in Britain. However, there is a paucity of empirical research exploring grassroots initiatives developed by these communities to address welfare needs. There is also a dearth of research analysing the perspectives of Muslim service users. It is this lack of inquiry which this thesis addresses. This research centres on a case study of an Islamic organisation providing services including Islamic counselling, advocacy, khul divorces, mediation and chaplaincy. The study explores the construction of the organisation’s Islamic approach to social work, their everyday practices and areas of particular on-going negotiation. It draws on interviews with individuals working at the organisation, Muslim service users who have accessed the services and also external professionals who have referred individuals to the organisation. An exploration of the potential benefits for Muslim service users focuses on the counselling services provided to young women and asylum seekers in particular. The findings of the study highlight the opportunities and challenges experienced in the process of professionalising internal forms of support amongst British Muslim communities. This research has implications for three key areas of academic debate.

    CHAPTER I INTRODUCTION 1.1 Background Young generations are the victims of globalization; they follow all kinds of sophistication of technology, lifestyles, habits and so on. The sophistication technology and globalization make some people forget about the cultures, traditions and histories. Nowadays, they feel more interested in something that is more practical, easy and popular. This fact makes them start to leave the tradition, old cultures, and histories. There are many kinds of traditions in Palembang. For example, traditional customs, traditional clothes, traditional dances and traditional food. Each of them has their own uniqueness. One of traditional custom of Palembang people is fishing on the river. In the terms of traditional clothes, they wear them on special days like on wedding day, Aesan Geda and Aesan Pasangko. Besides, Palembang people also have so many kinds of traditional dances. Those traditional dances are usually shown to welcome the guests on particular celebrations. The last one is traditional food. The traditional food of Palembang are pempek, model, tekwan, burgo, lakso, mie celor, pindang tulang, brengkes tempoyak and others. People in Palembang must know these traditions especially for young people; they must know the traditions, cultures and histories of Palembang in order to preserve the existing cultures. Besides, people can use these traditions as a media promotion to be introduced to other areas. From all of those traditions, the most prominent is the food, because the food is the primary needs of human beings. Besides, more often to be trying and enjoyed by visitors. Palembang city is the capital of South Sumatra, which has many kinds of traditional foods but pempek is very well known all over the world and as one of the identities of Palembang.

As Muslims, the aspect of cleanliness is one of the most important and basic things that should be followed and practised in everyday life. Allah loves those cleanse themselves as quoted in the holy Qur'an. .. God loves those who turn to Him, and He loves those who cleanse themselves ". (Surah Al-Baqarah: 222) There is a growing awareness of public toilets among the public and authorities which can be seen in the events such as the "A Clean Toilet Campaign Seminar" held at national level end of July 2003 in lohor Bahru, Johor. Criticisms by visitors and locals stirred the level of consciousness among those responsible directly or indirectly for clean and effective public facilities.Nowadays, toilet is no longer perceived as merely a small and insignificant part of a building. It contributes and serves more than the initial purposes intended. Due to socio-economic changes, a toilet has been diversified and become multi-functions. It has surpassed its traditional role as a place to empty bowels or urinates to serve as comfortable vicinity with conveniences. In developed countries such as Japan and Korea, a public toilet has become a communal area where people could do face washing, showering, freshen up or taking care of their kids and so on. In designing a public toilet, some elements should be highlighted particularly on the understanding of users needs.

    Rules and Options The author has attempted to draw as much as possible from the guidelines provided in the 5th edition Players Handbooks and Dungeon Master's Guide. Statistics for weapons listed in the Dungeon Master's Guide were used to develop the damage scales used in this book. Interestingly, these scales correspond fairly well with the values listed in the d20 Modern books. Game masters should feel free to modify any of the statistics or optional rules in this book as necessary. It is important to remember that Dungeons and Dragons abstracts combat to a degree, and does so more than many other game systems, in the name of playability. For this reason, the subtle differences that exist between many firearms will often drop below what might be called a "horizon of granularity." In D&D, for example, two pistols that real world shooters could spend hours discussing, debating how a few extra ounces of weight or different barrel lengths might affect accuracy, or how different kinds of ammunition (soft-nosed, armor-piercing, etc.) might affect damage, may be, in game terms, almost identical. This is neither good nor bad; it is just the way Dungeons and Dragons handles such things. Who can use firearms? Firearms are assumed to be martial ranged weapons. Characters from worlds where firearms are common and who can use martial ranged weapons will be proficient in them. Anyone else will have to train to gain proficiency— the specifics are left to individual game masters. Optionally, the game master may also allow characters with individual weapon proficiencies to trade one proficiency for an equivalent one at the time of character creation (e.g., monks can trade shortswords for one specific martial melee weapon like a war scythe, rogues can trade hand crossbows for one kind of firearm like a Glock 17 pistol, etc.).

ABSTRACT Product efficiency of the Brunei ethnic traditional kuih is highligted through the priceless knowledge inherited from their ancestors. The manufacturing of these traditional kuih is closely related to its culture or rites such as the celebration of marriage, birth or respecting deaths. These traditional kuih are very unique in the Brunei ethnic context because it was produced through innovative thinking. This way of thinking hence produces kuih-muih that comes in various functions and shapes that represents the heart and identity of a culture. This research is conducted to explore the cultural identity of the Brunei Ethnic kuih-muih production in Beaufort district. These kuih-muih include Kuih Jalurut, Kuih Tilapam, Kuih Lamban Udang, Kuih Tapai, Katupat Lupas and Bikang. This research involved two Brunei ethnic village; Kampung Weston and Kampung Lubuk; situated in Beaufort district, Sabah. This research applied Visualisation Technique and discussed several aesthetical elements like packaging designs, manufacturing ingredients and packaging methods. Every element discussed will be able to explain the role of these traditional Brunei ethnic kuih-muih in the context of identifying its culture identity and ancient rites. This is a qualitative research that utilises field research data that was obtained from interviews, observations and researcher’s direct involvement.

This is my first visit to Singapore and I am completely impressed with the Icountry’s beauty, cleanliness and the round-the-clock energy. What captivated my attention, as soon as I landed here, was the absolute cleanliness reflected across the country. Right from Changi Airport, which is a tourist attraction in itself, for its spectacular architecture, to the small lanes; this cleanliness can be seen everywhere. It is inspiring to see how the authorities maintain this orderliness and neatness. I have observed how the system has ingrained this habit of cleanliness in the people of Singapore. The rules and fine system ensure that everyone follows this discipline. Another thing that drew my attention was the greenery that has been maintained everywhere. I would consider this incredible and the biggest tourist attraction.

Symbolism towards the elements of nature is often used to express various ideas and meanings about their practices, culture, and life. This research uses a qualitative approach as a whole. Data obtained through qualitative approach using observations and interviews. Overall research has found that the human mind is made up of natural properties. Humans learn from nature and create the aesthetics they learn from it. Nature is made as a 'teacher', a human mind built from nature. This means that the developing world teaches humans to think creatively and to create something using natural resources, such as parang Ilang. Every event that happens around human life may not be separated from nature. The Iban people live in a natural environment. For them, nature is a ‘teacher’ to solve all the problems that occur in their lives.
