ANALISA DAN PEMBAHASAN 4.1 Profil Perusahaan 4.1.1 Sejarah Singkat Hotel JW Marriott Surabaya JW Marriott adalah sebuah perusahaan yang didirikan oleh John Willard Marriott. JW Marriott sekarang dikenal sebagai salah satu jaringan hotel terbesar bertaraf internasional di dunia. John Willard Marriott benar-benar melakukan upaya besar. Ia memulai bisnis dari toko root beer di Washington DC yang dikembangkan melalui beberapa langkah sampai hotel ini menjadi besar seperti sekarang. Langkah-langkah ini dapat dilihat sebagai berikut: 1927: John Willard Marriott membuka toko Root Beer dengan kapasitas 9 tempat duduk di Washington DC yang disebut dengan : "The Hot Shoppe" 1928: Root Beer berdiri dan berkembang menjadi sebuah restoran makanan Meksiko dengan nama "Hot Shoppe" 1929: Hot Shoppe, Inc resmi diluncurkan 1937: Truk “Hot Shoppe” mengantarkan kotak makan siang sederhana ke Negara bagian Timur, Amerika dan Inggris. 1957: Twin Bridges Motor Hotel Marriott di Arlington Virginia adalah hotel pertama yang dibangun 1967: The Hot Shoppe berubah menjadi Marriott Coorporation 1969: Marriott International Hotel pertama dibuka di Acapulco dan California 1975: Marriott membuka hotel di Eropa yang bernama The Amsterdam Marriott Hotel. 40 Universitas Kristen Petra 1979: Perusahaan Marriott pindah ke kantor utama baru di Bethesda Maryland. Bisnis Marriott terus berkembang di seluruh dunia. 1985: Marriott meninggal dalam usia 84 tahun. J.W. Marriott Jr, menggantikan posisi ayahnya. Marriott Marquis Hotel dibuka di New York, Atlanta. Perusahaan mengumumkan 2 juta komitmen untuk mengembangkan hotel. 1986: Marriott telah mendapat The Residence Inn Perusahaan. Marriott pertama kali membuka Adil Field Inn di Atlanta, Georgia. Pada akhir tahun, Marriott memiliki 350 hotel dengan estimasi kamar 102.000. 1987: Marriott memperoleh Residence Inn Perusahaan 1993: Marriott dibagi dalam dua perusahaan, Marriott International dan Host Marriott Corporation. 1994: Marriott telah mendapat Ritz Carlton Hotel Company, LLC, merk pertama di segmen hotel mewah. 1997: Marriott International telah mendapat Renaisance Hotel Group. Marriott International telah membuka 3 hotel di Indonesia; hotel pertama di Jakarta, yang kedua adalah di Surabaya dan yang ketiga adalah di Medan. JW Marriott Surabaya sebelumnya adalah Westin Hotel Surabaya dan telah berubah menjadi JW Marriott Hotel. Pada tanggal 10 Juni 2002 mengumumkan pengambilalihan The Westin Hotel Surabaya menjadi JW Marriott Surabaya. JW Marriott Surabaya dimiliki / dikembangkan oleh PT. Ramasari Surya Persada. Bangunan ini dirancang oleh Wong & Ouyang Ltd (Building Service), dan desain interior itu sendiri diciptakan oleh Bent Severin and Associates.
