“Wonderful indeed is the Mystery of our Faith” DIOCESE OF HARRISBURG YEAR OF FAITH OCTOBER 11, 2012 - NOVEMBER 24, 2013 Suggestions for the Celebration of Holy Mass On October 11, 2012, Bishop Joseph McFadden has prescribed that all parishes, communities of religious, schools, and communities of believers mark the beginning of the Year of Faith in a distinct manner. Since all that the Church does flows from and is directed to the Mystery of Faith celebrated in the Most Holy Eucharist, the following texts and readings are to be used in Holy Mass. The liturgical music selected is to help guide each parish and is not intended to be mandated. N.B. A new mass formulary has been issued by the Roman Curia for use on this occasion. However, at this time it is only available in Italian. Should it be translated in time for October 11, 2012, you will receive it to replace the formulary below. Let us ask the Lord for the graces we need to remain faithful to our call and mission. Deacon/Lector: Our response is, “Grant this, almighty God.” 1. For the holy Church of God, that she may rise up in splendor before the world and radiantly reflect the divine light of Christ to all the nations, let us pray to the Lord. 2. For the peoples of the world, that they may come to know the freedom and peace that is given to those who believe in Christ Jesus, let us pray to the Lord. 3. For those who have left the Catholic Church, that they may be invited home through the outreach of compassionate witnesses of the faith who reflect the love of Christ in their words and example, let us pray to the Lord. 4. For those who deny Christ and struggle with the gift of faith, that the barriers of uncertainty and fear may be broken down to reveal the joy of knowing Jesus Christ, let us pray to the Lord. 5. For all in the Diocese of Harrisburg, that this Year of Faith will renew our desire to grow closer to Christ through our commitment to prayer, the study of the Church’s teaching, and our public witness as believers, let us pray to the Lord. Celebrant: O God, our refuge and our strength, hear the prayers of your Church, for you yourself are the source of all devotion, and grant, we pray, that what we ask in faith we may truly obtain. Through Christ our Lord. Diocese of Harrisburg: Opening Mass for the Year of Faith 5 .
