Falcon Spartak continues to be a magnet for enthusiastic gymnasts of all ages, abilities and disabilities.

Run entirely by volunteers led by Kay Salter, the club operates from Hurstmere School in Sidcup.

Kay, who has been with the club as Chairman and Senior Coach for the last 24 years said “ The age range is from four and a half years to whenever someone wants to leave. Our oldest gymnasts at the moment is 38.

Those who enjoy gymnastics for the pure fun of it are welcome, but the club is also active competitively.

Falcon Spartak is a small friendly gymnastics club. Nobody is forced into competitions but we do encourage gymnasts to take part in displays for fun.

We have a wonderful set of gymnasts and parents at the moment, which makes the club that bit more special.

London Gymnastics congratulates Kay and the Club on reaching the advanced age of 40 and wish them every success for future years.

The youngest and least experienced Heathrow team put in a very strong performance in the Group Floor Category gaining an excellent 12.85. The experience they gained here will be very beneficial for them in events in years to come. On Sunday the Heathrow National team qualified for the British Teamgym finals.

A fantastic weekend of achievements, congratulations to all the gymnasts, coaches and also a special mention to Head Coach Jackie Murphy.

The first to train at the London Sunday the 14 April saw 2012 Olympic Training Venue the Men’s Artistic Apparatus Competition, a hugely popular event Lorna Goddard (Chair of MTC) was very clear when that has snowballed taking on the role that she wanted to unite Clubs, since the MTC coaches and gymnasts across London. If we could introduced it a few work as one supportive team then results at National years ago. level would follow. This year saw the biggest entry yet, more clubs, more coaches, more gymnasts and a bigger audience to support our gymnasts at The Europa Centre.

This year saw 69 gymnasts entered for the competition from 7 clubs, Camden, Catleaps, Croydon School of Gymnastics, Europa, Harrow, Heathrow and Hendon.

After discussion with Coaches and Clubs, Lorna revived The apparatus competition allows boys of all abilities the Regional Squad Training Sessions and inspired all to enter as many or as few pieces of apparatus as to want to get involved. they are comfortable performing on. This competition is open to any boy from an affiliated London Benefits Gymnastics club and is an excellent opportunity to find Many Regions now run Regional Squad training on a out what it is like competing at a MA competition . regular basis and the benefits are clear to see:

• Give gymnasts a sense of achievement by being a member of the Regional Squad • Give gymnasts the opportunity to mix with gymnasts from other clubs • Give gymnasts the opportunity to mix with new coaches • Gymnasts can refine skills, and work new skills • Gymnasts will train in different clubs, some of which will have better facilities than their own • Gymnasts can work closely with other youngsters who will be in their team in National Finals and can create a good team atmosphere • One of the biggest benefits to coaches is education. They can learn from others, refine techniques, share ideas.

On the Sunday of the first training session of 2013, the buzz of excitement was clear for everyone to see. Seven Clubs, multiple coaches and over 40 gymnasts all working together for one purpose; to improve and strengthen men’s gymnastics in London. The benefits outlined above were clearly evident and everyone took away a positive experience and a sense of belonging.

Lorna has grand plans to expand the Regional Squad training further and we look forward to the success of the squads and their members. Japanese Tsunami affected children's visit to Ladywell Gymnastics Club - follow up. CONGRATULATIONS
