Falcon Spartak continues to be a magnet for enthusiastic gymnasts of all ages, abilities and disabilities. Run entirely by volunteers led by Kay Salter, the club operates from Hurstmere School in Sidcup. Kay, who has been with the club as Chairman and Senior Coach for the last 24 years said “ The age range is from four and a half years to whenever someone wants to leave. Our oldest gymnasts at the moment is 38. Those who enjoy gymnastics for the pure fun of it are welcome, but the club is also active competitively. Falcon Spartak is a small friendly gymnastics club. Nobody is forced into competitions but we do encourage gymnasts to take part in displays for fun. We have a wonderful set of gymnasts and parents at the moment, which makes the club that bit more special. London Gymnastics congratulates Kay and the Club on reaching the advanced age of 40 and wish them every success for future years. LONDON GYMNASTICS Providing the perfect balance of fun, passion and precision Grade 5 only had 3 in the team due to an injured gymnast, so each score had to count. They came a creditable 6th with Nadine Gomez from City of London coming 5th individually and 4th highest scorer on A. Bars, another well executed routine. Annaya Appleby-Mason from Europa coming 6th and was the highest scorer on a beautifully performed Beam CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE routine even with 1 fall. GYMNASTS AND COACHES Annaya did not feel too well after Beam but still insisted she compete her floor but collapsed as soon as she walked off feeling quite sick. I am pleased to say she is feeling much better now. Congratulations to all gymnasts and coaches who took part in National grades On Sunday 17th March at Kingston University a number of Young Leaders gathered for their development day. They had a choice of a number of seminars and courses to attend. A long weekend but an enjoyable one with all the gymnasts competing extremely well. On Saturday their Regional Primary Team and their Regional Junior Team both took Silvers. The youngest and least experienced Heathrow team put in a very strong performance in the Group Floor Category gaining an excellent 12.85. The experience they gained here will be very beneficial for them in events in years to come.
