Para Rossy Mi Mana. 2 AGRADECIMIENTOS Esta investigación es la culminación de una etapa académica de mi vida, la cual inició en mi mente hace más de 30 años, pero que se materializó en el 2015, cuando decidí cambiar mi tiempo y espacio como profesor en la Facultad de Ciencias Sociales de Mazatlán, Sinaloa; para venir y estudiar el grado de doctor en Comunicación Audiovisual, Publicidad y Relaciones Públicas en la Facultad de Ciencias de la Información de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Así en una noche de frio invierno a finales del 2015 junto a mis sueños, fue que llegue a la ciudad de Madrid, con el recuerdo de mi familia y seres queridos que me habían despedido por el inicio de esta gran aventura, la cual me ha dado la mayor de las experiencias de mi vida. Entrar de nuevo al ambiente estudiantil en la Facultad de Ciencias de la Información fue un tanque de oxígeno que me sirvió no solo para enriquecerme académicamente, sino para conocer otros lugares de España y Europa a lo largo de casi cuatro años. Durante todo este tiempo, coseche amistades a lo largo y ancho de la península ibérica, así como también de diferentes nacionalidades que enriquecieron este viaje a mi Ítaca. Mis nuevos compañeros de camino, serían de lugares tan diferentes que fue un crisol de visiones que redondearon mis ideas sobre el mundo, mi cultura, mis costumbres y mi matria: Rumania, Georgia, Argentina, Perú, Colombia, Irán, Corea, Chile, España, Honduras. Mi agradecimiento principal para mis directores de tesis la Dra. Ana Isabel Segovia Alonso por darme la oportunidad de ser su alumno y asesorado, además de darme su tiempo y dedicación durante estos cuatro años para poder terminar esta tesis doctoral, gracias también al Dr. Luis Alejandro Nitrihual Valdebenito, que fue un gran motivador y fuente de inspiración académica durante este proyecto. Gracias especialmente a Manoli Añover Escudero y su familia por recibirme, así como apoyarme en todo momento y ser parte de esta etapa de mi vida, mi cariño, amor y gratitud por siempre. Gracias a mi primer amigo español, Don Juan Carlos Janariz, que tuvo a bien darme alojamiento tanto en Madrid como en Asturias, a la familia Galán que me dio alojamiento en Madrid durante mi primer año de estudios, a la familia Lafarga de Mataró, que me brindó su piso cuando realice mi estancia en Catalunya. Gracias también a los profesores, Miguel Ángel Sobrino y Francisco Zurian por darme las primeras muestras de confianza académica dentro de la FCI, gracias a mis 3 compañeras de grado Stefanie Pailahual por enseñarme la cultura Mapuche y Amelia Hulse por su alegría de vida y Nastaran Asadi por todos los momentos agradables que compartimos y que fueron parte importante de mi estancia en Madrid, durante el doctorado. Un agradecimiento afectuoso al Don Teo y Doña Pasita que en su casa pase grandes momentos y pude probar la mejor comida asturiana en el precioso puerto de Luarca. Gracias también a mis nuevas amistades que durante todo este tiempo me han ayudado y que sin ellos no hubiera sido posible que solventara todo tipo obstáculos, Félix Dragny, Isabel y Juanma Galán, Selene, Fanny Bosch, Cristina Martínez, Bibiana Pérez, Belén Ayuso, Jorge González y Laly Moseshvili. The analyst examined those organized crime syndicates that direct their criminal activities at the United States, namely Mexican narcotics trafficking and human smuggling networks, as well as a range of smaller organizations that specialize in trans-border crime. The presence in Mexico of transnational criminal organizations, such as Russian and Asian organized crime, was also examined. In order to assess the extent of terrorist activity in Mexico, several of the country’s domestic guerrilla groups, as well as foreign terrorist organizations believed to have a presence in Mexico, are described. The report extensively cites from Spanish-language print media sources that contain coverage of criminal and terrorist organizations and their activities in Mexico.

The governing Partido Accion Nacional (PAN) is feeling the heat for its failure to curb drug-related violence and is to some extent also identified with the downturn that has the Mexican economy in the doldrums. The opposition Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI) was poised to take advantage of the PAN's woes, but many citizens are not certain whether the party has abandoned its corrupt past. The center-left parties are so fractured and corrupted that many voters do not consider them a viable alternative. This has prompted many voters to strongly consider an independent campaign to vote for "None of the Above" in the upcoming congressional and gubernatorial elections on July 5.

    SIN MAÍZ, NO HAY PAÍS: CORN IN MEXICO UNDER NEOLIBERALISM, 1940-2008 Matthew Caire A Thesis Submitted to the Graduate College of Bowling Green State University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of MASTER OF ARTS May 2010 Committee: Amílcar Challú, Advisor Candace Archer Francisco Cabanillas ii ABSTRACT Amílcar Challú, Advisor In Mexican history, corn is far more than a culinary ingredient or farm product. Corn has been a cultural emblem and key component to the country’s national identity that throughout the twentieth-century the Mexican government embraced. However, since the adoption of neoliberal economic policies, which by necessity involves particular political policies, many Mexicans feel that corn’s significance in the country has changed. Over the last three decades public discontent with corn policies, which the public translates as anti-neoliberalism policies, has gradually grown. This thesis chronicles the growing discontent over corn policies and, more importantly, demonstrates how Mexican people have evolved to become agents for recentralizing corn in the country’s political, economic, and cultural discourses. iii This thesis is dedicated to Precious Vida Yamaguchi and Sonya JoJo Caire for their overwhelming support and tolerating my anxiety I had throughout writing this thesis.     Los periódicos de Guadalajara entre 1991 y 2011: el ocaso de la prensa industrial Juan S. Larrosa-Fuentes1 Palabras clave: Prensa industrial, prensa postindustrial, periódicos de Guadalajara, historia de la prensa. Key words: Industrial press, post-industrial press, Guadalajara's newspapers, newspapers' history. La historia de la prensa es una de las agendas de investigación pendientes en el campo de la comunicación en México. Aunque sí existen trabajos que aborden este tema, aún hace falta mucho por hacer. Este ensayo, que ofrece una historia económica de los periódicos generalistas en Guadalajara entre 1991 y 2011, busca contribuir a llenar este vacío académico. Las siguientes páginas contienen un re- cuento sobre cuáles fueron los periódicos que circularon en la capital del estado de Jalisco; qué características distinguieron su estructura de control y propiedad; cuál fue su modelo de negocios, y qué papel jugaron ante ciertos eventos históricos de índole global, nacional –y local– como crisis económicas, transiciones políticas y transformaciones sociales. En otras palabras, este texto está enfocado a la recons- trucción de algunas de las condicionantes histórico estructurales de esta industria cultural. Dicha contextualización histórica –sin ser un trabajo historiográfco– bus- ca explicitar que el sistema de comunicación estudiado no operó al margen de otros sistemas y dinámicas sociales, y que por el contrario, se vio afectado por la complejidad de su época. La contextualización histórica parte de la propuesta teórico metodológica de análisis histórico estructural de los medios de comunicación (Sánchez Ruiz, 1992b). El enfoque histórico estructural presupone que existe un campo en el cual los actores sociales pueden actuar libremente, pero bajo el ordenamiento de es- tructuras sociales.

    COMUNICADO DE PRENSA NÚM. 501/21 26 DE AGOSTO DE 2021 PÁGINA 1/2 Próxima publicación: 28 de septiembre INDICADORES DE OCUPACIÓN Y EMPLEO CIFRAS OPORTUNAS DURANTE JULIO DE 20211 (Cifras originales) El INEGI informa sobre los principales resultados de la Encuesta Nacional de Ocupación y Empleo, Nueva Edición (ENOEN) para julio de este año, los cuales indican que 59 millones de personas de 15 y más años de edad son Población Económicamente Activa (PEA), lo que representa una Tasa de Participación de 59.9 por ciento2. Dicha población es superior en 6.6 millones respecto a la de julio de 2020. Por su parte, el complemento, la Población No Económicamente Activa (PNEA) fue de 39.5 millones de personas, cifra inferior en 3.4 millones a la de julio del año previo; a su interior, la PNEA disponible se redujo 3.6 millones. De la PEA, 56.4 millones de personas (95.6%) estuvieron ocupadas en el séptimo mes de 2021, cifra que aumentó en 6.8 millones de personas en su comparación anual. A su interior el subuniverso de personas subocupadas, es decir, que declararon tener necesidad y disponibilidad para trabajar más horas, representó 7.5 millones (tasa de 13.2% de la población ocupada) y significó un decremento de 1.6 millones de personas frente a julio del año pasado. En el mes de referencia, la población desocupada3 se estableció en 2.6 millones de personas e implicó una tasa de 4.4% de la PEA. Respecto a julio de 2020 la población desocupada disminuyó en 218 mil personas y la Tasa de Desocupación (TD) fue menor en 1 punto porcentual.
