Academic year (2015-2016) Christmas Celebration Report

Christmas is celebrated to remember the birth of Jesus Christ, who Christians believe is the Son of God. The name 'Christmas' comes from the Mass of Christ (or Jesus). A Mass service (which is sometimes called Communion or Eucharist) is where Christians remember that Jesus died for us and then came back to life. The 'Christ-Mass' service was the only one that was allowed to take place after sunset (and before sunrise the next day), so people had it at Midnight! Therefore, we get the name Christ-Mass, shortened to

Christmas. The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine (he was the first Christian Roman Emperor). However, it was not an official Roman state festival at this time.

The Department of IT was incharge for conducting the programme. At this happy celebration, the attendance of the Chairperson Dr.Nalini Selvaraj, and Ms.Merlin was overwhelming. They inspired everyone with their speech. Finally, the Principal, Dr. A.V.Mayakannan addressed the gathering.

Earth Day is an annual event created to celebrate the planet's environment and raise public awareness about pollution. Earth Day is important because it reminds people to think about humanity's values, the threats the planet faces and ways to help protect the environment. One of the world's largest environmental networks told Live Science that anyone can make a difference on Earth Day by simply incorporating little changes into their daily routines.

According to earthday.org, our planet is currently losing over 15 billion trees each year due to deforestation, land development, and bad forest management. The theme for Earth Day 2016 is a plan to plant 7.8 billion trees by Earth Days 50th in 2020. That is one tree for every person on the planet. As we all know trees absorb carbon dioxide, mitigating greenhouse gas emissions produced by human activity. As climate change continues, trees play an important role in carbon sequestration, or the capture and storage of excess carbon dioxide. As the survey said increase in deforestation and bad management of forest will lead to removal of vegetation that is important for removing carbon dioxide from the air, but the act of clearing the forests also produces greenhouse gas emissions and also loss of trees can affect water quality, lead to soil erosion, flood etc., Thus the speaker concluded the speech saying that avoid deforestation and plant more trees to save our earth and our lives.

EARTH DAY REPORT

Earth Day aims to encourage people across the world to be more environmentally friendly. This might mean increasing the amount they recycle, volunteering for a local green project or installing solar panels in their home. Earth Day is a call to action for the global community to address climate change, foster a sustainable, healthy environment and protect our planet for future generations. It is celebrated in our institution this year with the theme “Environmental and Climate Literacy.” Our NSS Coordintor Dr.P.Gandhimathi presided the program. She started her speech to our students and faculty members that we should save our earth and there are different ways to save our earth and some of the ways are, Pledge to stop using pesticides to save pollinators, Use safer sunscreen to protect coral, Organize a "clean up" of your community, Use the Earth Day Network's plastic calculator to track, then reduce, your plastic waste, Plant a tree, Calculate your carbon footprint and work out how to offset it. Also she stated that education is a key to progress. The effects of climate change are disproportionately felt by our poorest and most vulnerable populations. When they are empowered with knowledge, people can take action to defend their environment and promote sustainable solutions to climate change that benefit their communities for both the present and the future. Finally she ended up saying protecting and restoring our natural environment is fundamental to ending hunger and poverty.

The Christmas tree is an evergreen trimmed with lights, decorations, and tinsel, is derived from a "paradise tree", or the tree in the Garden of Eden. The use of the Christmas tree began early in the 17th century, in Strasbourg, France, spreading from there through and then into northern Europe. On Christmas day, the year's greatest feast is served. The feast is started off with drinks and music, followed by a procession of the food. Holiday decorations create a warm, welcoming environment. Traditionally, decorating for Christmas is done with wreaths, trees, Christmas lights and bows as these capture and stimulate the Christmas Spirit. Christmas decoration takes time, physical ability, design skills and knowledge, but people enjoy the task of designing, installing and maintaining the holiday decor. The Christmas tree is the greatest joy for children. The tradition of decorating a Christmas tree include decorations that are made of pieces of straw strung together on a thread into intricate geometrical figures, shells and pastry were used to make birds, horses, squirrels, etc. Christmas trees are also decorated with apples, fir or pine cones, nuts and paper cuttings.

The Department of Mechanical was incharge for conducting the programme. On this joyful celebration, the presence of the Chairperson Dr.Nalini Selvaraj, and Ms.Merlin was intense. They inspired everyone with their powerful words and thoughts. To close, the Principal, Dr. A.V.Mayakannan given the vote of thanks.

Earth day is celebrated to promote the understanding of important environmental issues so that students and faculties are aware of the critical actions we need to take to protect our environment. Also, it is celebrated to commit ourselves to plant some trees, clean up a stream or help our community garden." Make a pledge to keep water clean and accessible for years to come. The importance of Earth Day is to increase the awareness among common public, especially among youngsters, to get full effect of environment safety. Our Principal Dr.A.V.Mayakannan gave a simple talk to students and faculty members of the institution; it is celebrated to provide an inspiration needed for students and faculty members to fundamentally change human attitude and behavior about plastics. "Plant a tree or a flower, pick up a discarded bottle and recycle it (even if it isn't yours), turn off your printer for a day, power off your computer and take a tech break, etc,. He said these are just a few simple ways to make a positive impact for yourself and for our Earth," As he said he started with planting a tree and watering it, followed by our students planted trees and watered it. ACADEMIC YEAR (2018-2019) WOMENS DAY REPORT

International Women‟s Day is a time to reflect on progress made, to call for change and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women, who have played an extraordinary role in the history of their countries and communities. International Women's Day is all about unity, celebration, reflection, advocacy and action - whatever that looks like globally at a local level. Learn about the values that guide IWD's ethos. The emerging global consensus is that despite some progress, real change has been agonizingly slow for the majority of women and girls in the world. Today, not a single country can claim to have achieved gender equality. Multiple obstacles remain unchanged in law and in culture. Women and girls continue to be undervalued; they work more and earn less and have fewer choices; and experience multiple forms of violence at home and in public spaces. The internationalwomensday.com platform was launched with the specific purpose of re-energizing the day - a focus that continues to this day - celebrating and making visible the achievements of women while continuing the call for accelerating gender parity.

Womens day Programme was organized by women empowerment cell co-ordinator Mrs.A.R.Venmathi, Associate Professor, ECE. This program was presided over by our special guest Mrs.Roselind Rex, Founder, World Life Foundationat 10.00 Am in College Auditorium on 08.03.2019, in the presence of the Chairperson Dr.NaliniSelvaraj. Programme started with opening prayer by Jenifa/ ECE, followed by prayer song, Bible reading by our students Muthupriya and Joice, Promo Video, Welcome address by our student jenifa, Message by chairperson, Prize distribution of rangoli competition winners, Guest addressed our students and faculties to provide awareness on

“Think equal, Build Smart, Innovate for Change and Balance for Better” that allow positive discrimination in favor of women, Finally programme ended up with Vote of Thanks by our student KarunyaJensy.“Where there is a woman, there is magic.” - NtozakeShange.

ACADEMIC YEAR (2018-2019) HEALTH DAY REPORT

World Health Day has been celebrated on the 7th of April of each year. World Health Day is to raise global awareness of a specific health theme to highlight a priority area of concern for the World Health Organization (WHO).

It is said that: “Health is Wealth.”

“Health is the relationship between you and your body.” “He who has health has hope and he who has hope has everything.”

It is necessary to spread awareness among people and to give knowledge about health. It is said that good Health provides better capabilities to work as per the need of the growing World and so is very important. Slogan “Health for all” is for more than seven decades as a guiding vision.

World Health Day targets all the issues related to health and for this several programs are organized yearly basis by the WHO and other organizations at several places like schools, colleges etc.

It is celebrated worldwide by the government, non-government, NGO‟s and several other organizations.

Health authorities from different country take part in the celebration with their pledges in order to support on the health issues worldwide. It reminds people about the establishment of WHO and to spread awareness among people about major health issues in the world.

WHO has worked on serious health issues in the developing countries like chickenpox, polio, smallpox, TB, leprosy etc. To fullfil the aim of World Health Day, people in the World Health Organizations do debates between individuals on health related topics, organize exhibitions, essay writing, various competitions and award ceremony etc.

In our institution World health day is organized on 05.04.2019. Our Guest Dr.Samuel, addressed our students and faculties on balanced diet for healthy life "Universal Health Coverage: everyone, everywhere". “The greatest wealth is Health”.

Diet forms an important part of everyday health and can influence things such as cholesterol, blood sugar, and blood pressure, not to mention fat levels, which can cause a whole host of health complications if too high. Snacking can play a big role in developing a poor diet, and cutting out unhealthy snacks can make a real difference.

Now obviously you can‟t just ban crisps and chocolates for a whole week and get away with it, so getting in some healthy alternatives can be a great way to get staff working together to a healthier means. Try stocking the break room with fresh fruit or switching caffeine breaks out for green tea. He also advised our students and faculties that going “Early to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy wealthy and wise”.

ACADEMIC YEAR (2018-2019) EARTH DAY REPORT

Earth Day is an annual event created to celebrate the planet's environment and raise public awareness about pollution. Earth Day is important because it reminds people to think about humanity's values, the threats the planet faces and ways to help protect the environment. One of the world's largest environmental networks told Live Science that anyone can make a difference on Earth Day by simply incorporating little changes into their daily routines.

Our Principal Dr.A.V.Mayakannan gave a simple talk to students and faculty members of the institution, "A simple way that everyone can celebrate Earth Day to make the world a better place is to turn off the lights in their own homes and in their offices ... not just sometimes, but all of the time,". He said "It may sound simple, but how many times have you left the lights on when you could be saving energy?" He said it one of the simple way to make a positive impact for yourself and for our Earth," On the day of event, our students showcased a street play on how to save our mother earth and what will be the impact if we fail to save our earth. Our principal said protect the rapid extinction of species in our world today, which is directly linked to human activities. These include climate change, deforestation, habitat loss, trafficking and poaching, unsustainable agriculture, pollution, and pesticides. The Earth Day Network, which runs Earth Day, claims that we are now losing species at 1,000 to 10,000 times the normal rate. Insect populations have decreased by more than 45% worldwide, 40% of the world‟s bird species are in decline, and beekeepers report annual hive losses of 30% or higher. He concluded saying many species will disappear before we learn about them or the benefits they bring to our ecosystems and our planet. The loss is so great that the welfare and future of the human species are threatened.

"The good news is that the rate of extinctions can still be slowed," and "Many of our declining, threatened, and endangered species can still recover if we work together now to build a united global movement of consumers, voters, educators, faith leaders, and scientists to demand immediate action."

ACADEMIC YEAR (2018-2019) ANTI TERRORISM DAY REPORT (2018-2019)

Anti-Terrorism day is observed in our institution to promote unity among the people by planting seed of unity among the people and also, to provide education and training to the youngsters and to generate awareness in the about the danger of terrorism, violence and its dangerous effect on the people, society and whole country. One of our senior faculty members accompanied our students to Rajiv Gandhi Memorial, Sriperumbudur, located near our institution and gave brief speech on who are the people responsible for causing terror. Our faculty also said students that Killing innocent lives is not terror – it is their utter foolishness. They may be taught to do that, but we should be the ones who are taught to promote peace. No one can stop us from promoting peace until we lead people to our path without any fear. Finally, she ended up saying Terrorism has no religion. No religion promotes terrorism, and every religion promotes peace.
